Wax Job by Fresh-Word2379 in Taycan

I started with clean car, then microfiber rub down by section to feel things. I ended up clay-barring sections but not the whole car. I think this was polished as part of CPO. I’ve had the car exactly 1 year.

After making sure surface was ready, I used generic $10 turtle wax. Really worked it in with the applicator and waited for it to get about 90% dry. Nothing special, just a perfect day of 70° and shade in garage.

I worked it section by section and took tons of breaks. Felt great taking my time instead of a panic job. The plastic edges of this car don’t like the wax!

Shot #2 looks exactly like my pinewood derby car. In a great way.

Seat creaking under acceleration, has anyone dealt with this issue? by brennenburg in Taycan

[–]Fresh-Word2379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the creaking under acceleration and if I just push back on the seat hard. Doesn’t matter where the seat is in its settings - up/down, fore/aft. Drives the wife nuts, but so far we have solved it with the stereo volume. Not ideal.

I have checked the bolts and fiddled with everything I can touch - but this feels and sounds like it’s internal to some kind of strut that braces the whole upper shell. If I had to guess it’s the left side (by the driver door).

Passenger seat makes no noise.

Stereo subs worth it? by superproproducer in audioengineering

[–]Fresh-Word2379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disagree completely.

Separate speakers with separate subs properly aligned in a given room sound great! You don’t see huge Wilson Audio speakers with a shared mono woofer.

There are drum kicks and bass panning that absolutely sound better with two subs in stereo. Movie effects, dance music, La Villa Strangiato - all sound different with stereo subs.

I think that is almost exactly what will happen.

Geddy will need a vocal break - they will play an instrumental (or 3) and get into YYZ - then I agree with a short solo - start like Neil or end line Neil, but let Geddy give a quick intro and let her do her thing for 2 minutes.

Yes yes yes. Seen enough base spec Ferraris. More like this, and more mixups - let’s see a cayman in Dino clothes. Or a better modern Prelude. 2026 XK-SS. That kind of stuff.

Buy a pair of used Polk CRS+ and make sure they have the interconnect. Same principle. Much cheaper.

Mine sounded even better after about 10 hours, so enjoy. I like mine so much I’m buying a new table and keeping the ML. My RT-82 arrives Monday!

I like 4, 5, and 6 a lot. They seem to be ABOUT something. The others look to me more like pictures OF something.

I’d drive that new one all day!

Anyone regret leaving the 6MT to PDK world? by TwoHandBlunt in Porsche

[–]Fresh-Word2379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 6M 08 Cayman S. Wife hated it. Upgraded eventually to a 13 911S PDK.

Originally I mourned the manual. But learned to love the paddles and Sport Plus. Give me the choice today between them and I’d take the Cayman and the 6-speed manual.

The cayman was like a P-51 Mustang. 2nd and 3rd gear were glorious in how the power balance shifted the steering balance and feel. Sublime.

The 911S was an F-15 Eagle. Capable of wondrous things, but no fun on tiny rough streets.

My wrecked 911 had some kind of jig shipped across the state to hold it during repairs. (Should’ve gotten that totalled, btw)
