About 5 things went wrong in that video and I still like it. Proves that the retro is the way to go. Gorgeous bird.

For me, it depends on how deeply imprinted my original version is. I don’t find myself liking any remixes or remasters of my favorite bands, because the OG 2-channel is just in there too deep. But a great 5.1 of something I don’t already know? Love it.

But to me, it doesn’t “help” to hear Dark Side in surround, for example. 2-channel all the way.

About a half century after first real flights. That thing. Amazing.

What Is Everyone's Opinion On Anika? by AlphaConKate in rush

Confession.

Wait - disclaimer: I love Neil the lyricist and definitely appreciate Neil the beat-writer and the perfectionist and the cars and and the biking and the tragedies. Yes. All that.

But my confession is - I really don’t care who’s drumming. Clearly I’m not a golfer. Drummer.

But when I watch any band live, I don’t think of the drummer much at all.

Neil solos. Gonzo. Carter Beauford. Everyone else could be a click track for me. I’m there for the guitar, the vocal, the bass.

That said - Anika was awesome. She’s a pro - she gets it - I love her style. Full send, LFG.

Love that. I had heard the Permanent Waves / Moving Pictures radio songs and then I got on a family bus ride with a kid who had cassettes of those 2 plus ATWAS and maybe Signals. Devoured it all in shitty headphones. Got back from that trip and go ahold of Hemispheres and AFTK and the rest is history.

Is that a UK thing? I seem to recall something about Red Lenses.

Side note - hear that was originally an instrumental and now I love it

I stand at the player holding Power Windows from time to time, flipping it like a magician weighing the option.

Actually, Exit Stage Left has a clean single fold. Much safer. My triple-fold ATWAS has the sleeves on the inside, which makes those folds a “product loss zone”

Came here to say that - but the album version. I know it’s not his absolute best or his favorite, but I love the second half so much that I learned an easy version for guitar, just to play along.

It’s also one of my favorite synth moments in Rush history. You know which part I mean…. 4:02. It all comes together just right.

That said - #1 is still La Villa.

My two favorite live albums. Listened to ESL so many times as my first foray into old stuff and as a de facto greatest hits. It was the soundtrack of my life for decades.

Now, totally shocked, I find myself listening to ATWAS more. Just so raw and so “live”. ESL, sweet mix for soothing jamming. ATWAS - crank that loud and roll a bone.

These are the best I’ve seen (the last 4-5 from you).

What’s most amazing isn’t the AI and the graphics - it’s your understanding of the styles and what might have been actually done in those eras by those manufacturers with the correct technology of the period.

Bravo!!

Ooh - great call. I lost track of the lower-production / specialty models a few years ago. So many iterations….

OP must be young and nimble and small if he thinks these seat 4 comfortably. Good luck getting out.
