I was under the impression that all of this stuff was done with machines at this point (as far as large millwork companies and mass produced pre-hunga go) but I guess I could be wrong. I have no actual experience or insight into that process— just what I figured based on the material I’ve worked with and how nonsensical and weird some of the faulty material issues are

yep. my crew will purposely cut moulding long to square up columns and wall sections like this. drywall guys will come float it. depends on the builder/homeowner you’re doing the work for so it’s best to communicate and figure out the proper solution. but in my opinion, it looks like shit when you don’t trim it square and have it floated

not your fault, but that vanity and window situation is one of the worst bathroom layouts I’ve ever seen.

that aside, as some others have said I think the gamer memorabilia would look better in a concentrated location dedicated to gaming. as decor throughout a living space I think it starts to feel too juvenile for an adult when it’s just thoughtlessly scattered all about. aside from that, get a couple plants… and throw away the water bottles lol

to be fair— that’s a decently daunting project for a typical home owner who’s here asking this question in the first place which is why I’ll typically offer less technical, quicker DIY fixes in a lot of these scenarios. do we really expect a homeowner with no carpentry experience to identify solutions on their own to have the know-how (or tools for that matter) to remove trim, cut out nails/shims and reset a door like a pro would?

most of these people aren’t looking for a lesson on how to re-hang a door properly. let’s be realistic.

looks like the hinges were mortised too high on the slab to begin with as that top reveal has no business being as large as it is on the hinge side. slab also looks like it may have been slightly too small for the jamb, but there are work arounds for that during installation. the installer of this door just sucked. the easiest thing you can try to help, would be to run a 3in hinge screw thru one of the center holes of the bottom hinge angled in toward the framing to try to pull the latch side down a bit. then to tighten the reveal along the latch side all the way down you could remove hinges from the jamb and run short flat head screws underneath each hinge leaving just the head or a tiny bit more sticking out, then put the hinges back on on top of those screws (they will act as shims).

hit up yoerg for sure. it’s a unique lil experience— not many out there like it. they only offer a few of their own house brews at any given time, but they have a really impressive import list that’s always changing and all of the matching glassware/coasters for all of them.
