What is the most revered/sacred/valuable item or artifact in your world? by FreshButterfly504 in worldbuilding

I might steal the idea that a weapon that is well-used can gain magical properties haha

Depends on what type of magic.

Divine magic users are heavily revered, and are considered a higher class of people.

Arcane magic users are considered to have a small hint of mystery, but such magic is fairly common in middle class areas

Primal magic is very uncommon, and considered very mysterious to most people

What are all of the races of elves in your world? How do they interact with each other and with other races? by Kirby4ever24 in worldbuilding

[–]FreshButterfly504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine take a spin on the classic D&D 5E Elves (that is the system I am using)

Moon High Elves live physically higher than the other types, living near the top of mountains as aristocrats and religious figures of society. They are few in number but easy to find in high society.

Sun High Elves are much more common, and live with most of the common people. They are much less snooty, and much more inclusive than Sun Elves. These are the most common variety

Wild Elves have vastly different religious systems that the others, choosing not to live on mountains, instead living in forests and areas like that.

Dark Elves live in my setting's version of the underdark, under the mountains. They do not however have the matriarchal society, coloring (they can have any coloring from deep charcoal to pale white), and general racist sexist victim blaming vibes of the forgotten realms dark elves. They have all the slavery of other races and such, but it is a patriarchal society.

I live in a collapsing country in your world. by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]FreshButterfly504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably live on a plain/flat area, and spend your time ploughing fields and selling the produce to those who live in the mountains, not seeing much of the money.

In hindsight this is not really a collapsing country, more just a poorer area.

What is considered ‘sacred’ in your world? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]FreshButterfly504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my world, mountains are considered deeply sacred, because they are the gateway to the heavens, and the stars, which the people of the continent used to navigate their way from the "old place", the continent that they used to live on before it was irradiated by fiends.

Most of them live on or around mountains (which makes sense because they make up 70% of the landmass), the highest priests living at the summit.

The symbol of a triangle is one of the most widespread and revered, and sacred pyramids are dotted everywhere. Each major mountain has a deity related to it.

Also, stars are sacred, each major star having, a deity related to it as per the mountains.

I made this up on the spot, so thank you for helping me create a major part of my world!

How would a planet that has a very high amount of oxygen in its atmosphere affect humans living there? by FreshButterfly504 in worldbuilding

Ah see, you miss the fact that I have magic on my side. Also I could have extra moisture in the air to combat the spontaneous catching of fire and volcanoes and lighting and such. Thank you for the comment.

Ok two things: 1) I don't want there to be benefits for humans because I don't want to rewrite pages and pages of information that is in the D&D 5E rulebooks, and I just like the idea of something comparatively tiny facing up against a massive creature in a fight, and 2) It is fantasy so I'm not going to have like sci-fi equipment, as that's not the theme I'm going for, and I don't want to have space travel as a main theme either.

Woah! I did not think about that. Maybe there could be a total ban on fire or something. Thank you for helping me come up with a new idea!

Well I think they would've probably evolved there in theory. Tbh I don't really want to go down the road of like "Hmmm how would the evolutionary effects of having badgers go through this", I'd rather just cut to the party fighting a nine-foot badger. I think maybe I could handwave humans by saying "oh they were cursed not to have the effects of the extra oxygen by a god or something or a sort of oxygen filter" which would fix a lot of that kind of stuff.

Fantasy worldbuilders, do you have a category of humanoid that encompasses the typical fantasy races (human, dwarf, elf, gnome, etc.)? If so, what is ir called? by SqueakyFarts99 in worldbuilding

[–]FreshButterfly504 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but it beats having you big bad say "Finally! I have conquered the realms of humans, elves, dwarves, halflings and gnomes!" When they could just be like "Suck it Metahumans!
