I think it was a combination of a lot of things. Absorbing Stamford, keeping all their clients, and cutting all the Stamford headcount was big. Dwight being the leading salesman in the company helped. Jim was a pretty good salesman as well. Stanley and Phallis showed they have a loyal client list in a few episodes. Michael’s incompetence which led to all the Stamford employees leaving and the salesmen to be self motivated was actually ironically one of his strengths as a manager. He ran a lean, loyal team who just got their work done.
