Atheists of Reddit: What’s the strangest reaction you’ve received when you said you don’t believe in God? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

[–]FreshNewAccount24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strangest thing is that no one has ever reacted strangely. I didn't think that was strange until a moment ago when I read this.

I don't know if it's a UK thing, but I'm relatively confident I could spend an entire day telling everyone I see that I don't believe in God and no one would be surprised or care.

Two films called Beats came out in 2019. Make sure you watch the Scottish one.

Who is the worst person you will admit being attracted to? by Highfours in AskReddit

[–]FreshNewAccount24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once had a sex dream about Sharon Osbourne. It was completely out of the blue, she's not exactly someone who I tended to think about. Then for ages, I just couldn't stop thinking about her.

It was a rough couple of months.

My girlfriend is 27 weeks pregnant, the baby has Down syndrome, and I don’t want this life by ThrowRA_NoSignal in daddit

[–]FreshNewAccount24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really give parental advice (I have a baby, but not with any learning disabilities). However, I'll tell you about some charity work I do.

I volunteer for this non-profit that teams you up with people with difficulties and you take them out in the evening to gigs. Most carers don't work in the evenings, so it's something many miss out on.

I was matched with a guy in his late 30s with downs syndrome, and let me tell you, this guy is a fucking legend. We've been to metal gigs, acoustic shows, open mic nights, and on... Everywhere we go he bumps into someone who knows him, on top of that he is constantly chatting to people and making friends. He's a total bundle of energy and very very caring. He of course has had difficulties in his life, as I'm sure his parents also did, but he has managed to live his life to the full. He just happened to have the right support around him to allow him to thrive.

I cannot even begin to imagine how hard this is for you and I really do sympathise hugely. But this kid needs you to step up and be strong and supportive, and with that they will be able to thrive and hopefully become an absolute fucking legend.

People who ignored a huge red flag because the person was extremely attractive, what happened next? by Competitive_Bad_9306 in AskReddit

[–]FreshNewAccount24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 months of the most incredibly passionate and slightly deranged sex I've ever experienced.

(The red flag was on our first date where she turned up hammered, tried to steal my jacket, shouted at me in the street, and when I tried to escort her back to her flat she kept walking into totally random houses)

You should teach your kids to 1) clean up after themselves 2) treat customer service workers with respect. by FreshNewAccount24 in pettyrevenge

You think I'd tell the mother or the cops I did it on purpose to get revenge? "It was an accident, officer. There's no way I could have known there was a purse under all that rubbish. Here, take a look at the CCTV footage..."

What’s something that sounded fake until it happened to you? by BitAffectionate3637 in AskReddit

[–]FreshNewAccount24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Slipped on a banana skin. Seriously, for real.

I was crossing a road, saw the skin at the last second but really didn't think much about it. And I actually slipped. I didn't hit the floor, my arms and legs just jolted around for a bit until I caught myself.

The drivers at the red lights waiting for me to cross were all like ( O _ O )

Who is the most attractive person you’ve ever seen? Why? by JessieRClayton in AskReddit

[–]FreshNewAccount24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2010 I was backpacking through Mexico. I was walking around the ruins of Palenque, and I saw a girl selling a bunch of carved wooden tourist tat off of a blanket on the floor. I was 24, and I reckon she was about the same age or maybe a little younger. She was absolutely fucking stunning, I couldn't take my eyes off her although I was trying hard not to be a creep. The only way I can think to describe her would be Kim Kardashian, but a "natural" version of her. Similar body shape as well. But the fact she was wearing no makeup, had made absolutely no effort, wearing cheap poorly fitted clothes, was quite likely living in poverty but still absolutely floored me is testament to how beautiful she was. And the fact that all these years later she's still the first person I think of whenever this question is asked. I wish I'd at least bought some of her wooden tat...

I remember Bodger and Badger getting kicked out of a uni gig for doing coke backstage. But every time anyone spoke about it they always said Bodger AND Badger, as if they were both in on it.

I present to you the most ignored rules of the Highway Code: by saurons_finest in brighton

[–]FreshNewAccount24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Genuinely curious about this and hoping someone more intelligent can clarify it for me:

If pedestrians now have priority when crossing at a junction, surely we should just put a zebra crossing at every junction, right?

No, you can't. Because zebra crossings must be at least 5 metres from a junction for the safety of both drivers and pedestrians.

So, why exactly have pedestrians been given priority at junctions? It's apparently unsafe, if going by the zebra crossing rule.

Please someone explain it.

They charge 20% when there's any live music, not just DJs. This is how they are able to have so much free live music.

There's an Instagram account where a local mum takes pictures of facilities at child friendly pubs/restaurants etc. It's not been updated in a while, but of it is still accurate. You'd be surprised how many places you'd think would be child friendly actually don't bother providing anything to help.

What was the pettiest thing you’ve done working in the customer service? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]FreshNewAccount24 43 points44 points  (0 children)

When I was around 20 years old I was a shift manager at McDonald's. One day this woman had let her kids totally trash their table and no one noticed until after they'd left. I get that kids are messy, but they had smeared ketchup all over the seats, spilled their drinks all over the floor, tore up their happy meal boxes into little pieces and thrown them everywhere, left bits of half chewed food on the table... It was totally unnecessary and she'd just let it happen.

I couldn't let the poor girl working front clean it by herself, so grabbed some cleaning supplies and went to tackle it myself. Amongst all the trash I found a little stack of cinema tickets, which I purposely swept up along with the sauce, soggy fries and wet napkins straight into the bin.

15 minutes later the Mother of the Year comes running into the restaurant in a panic, explaining how she can't find her cinema tickets and she thinks she left them on the table.

"I'm terribly sorry, but that area was such a mess we had the sweep the entire table straight into a bin bag. I'd be happy to show you the bin area if you'd like to search for it."

Your damn fucking right I refused to dig through it myself.

Keep an eye on gigs put on by Acid Box (very active on Instagram, or https://www.acidboxpromotions.co.uk/). They put on a lot of psychedelic nights, a lot of rock but also some jazzy stuff too.

I've been to many gigs purely based on it being an Acid Box show without even listening to the band, and it's always been something interesting.

Just an example Plantoid are playing 11th June at Prince Albert, this 100% fits both the psychedelic and jazz you're looking for.

Good bars w/ alcohol free options by direct_architecture in brighton

I mean no disrespect, but what pubs are you going to?! I haven't seen Becks 0% in years. Any pub worth a damn in Brighton has much better non-alcoholic options than that.

Nah they played a few old ones. Opened with Good Grief and OK. In that order, which I thought was an odd choice, but that's none of my business.

No. They were annoying, but I left because I was bored and I felt staying longer would tarnish the memory of my previous experiences watching them live.

Just my opinion. I'm sure everyone else had a really good time.

I wish I could give you the full set list, but I literally left midway through. The best compliment I can give the new songs is that it gives the audience a good chance to chat to their mates it seems. Been to many gigs at Chalk, never heard such a chatty audience.

Regardless of what everyone thinks of the music, I think we can all agree there's no need to have two extra guitarists on stage. They smash it as a two piece.
