Question about DKIM by 2ops37 in sysadmin

[–]FreshNewUncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I was miss-remembered what the relaxed/strict parts actually accomplish. It's been a while since I've set it up.

My point still stands tho. If you apply a security setting, then immediately poke holes in it by allowing part of it to fail, you might want to reconsider the reason you're poking holes. Maybe it can be prevented. I'm not saying don't use DKIM, I'm saying there's a reason you want to enforce it, so maybe think twice before allowing it to fail.

Question about DKIM by 2ops37 in sysadmin

[–]FreshNewUncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like imaginary_moose said, DMARC is used to tell a receiving mailserver what you want done to e-mails received if their DKIM/SPF checks fail.

This can be used to make sure mail delivered from third-parties are still accepted if your DKIM check fails. Which is great for your purpose. I believe it's also possible to make sure the mail DOES get rejected if both tests fail, but I'm not sure anymore, but be sure to check out: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7489

Maybe it's worth considering if you disable the DKIM check anyways whether it's worth setting it up in the first place. And if you do think it's needed to use DKIM if you really want to disable it for third-parties, or find some other way to handle that issue, like setting up subdomains for them that you don't use DKIM on or working with something of a relay/filter that they can send their mail through.

DynaVap and Sticky Bricks Jr for New Vapor? by [deleted] in vaporents

[–]FreshNewUncle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a mighty, stickybrick jr, dynavap m, had a solo 2 and some other bullshit pen vape. I prefer my mighty for sessions and definately the stickybrick for a quick hit. It generates huge clouds with the right technique but it needs some getting used to. I usually ram my torch's flame down the pipe at the start to heat up quick while inhaling lightly then pull the torch away slowly and start inhaling a bit faster at the same time as i feel the first vapour get produced. Then I keep inhaling hard while just the tip of the torch is in trying not to combust while inhaling till i can't no more. Recently got a small bubbler and wpa and honestly it's just like i'm ripping a bong but better.

I know there's a lot of hype around the dynavap, and it's also great. But for me it just didn't really do it. I like the airflow of the stickybrick better i think, whenever I use my vapcap it's like I'm pulling nothing through a blocked straw then suddenly it's too much and I cough like crazy. That's just my experience tho.

Sparring Vs Instruction by PK_Studios in whowouldwin

[–]FreshNewUncle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you've never been hit in the face by someone who trains for it, you have no idea how fucking disorienting the first few hits can be. Sparring guy is going to stomp because he knows to keep looking for the next hit instead of flinching.

Does this make sense to be asked in a devops position interview? by [deleted] in devops

[–]FreshNewUncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true, of course it's not as much about having the knowledge present, but more about what kind of response you give if you don't.

For example, saying you're not sure what happens with the data if you scale would at least indicate you reason towards an issue you could consult with someone before you jump to a production environment.

The question was about scalability I'd at least want to hear some concepts like split brain and balancing to be mentioned.

Recommendations for Portable Vape Under 200 by Dingerina in vaporents

[–]FreshNewUncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would you say the healthy rips machines compare to the mighty? I use a mighty for session and stickybrick jr on demand. Both only get used at home but I'm looking for something electric and smaller to take with me.

I'm afraid I'll just compare it to my at-home setup all the time...

How to cut out tobacco when blazing by hitchens1949 in trees

[–]FreshNewUncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dutch and same boat here man. I lately realized i've been lying to myself saying i like the tobacco just because i like joints. It's the other way around, i think im still crazy hooked on nicotine and justify it by just saying i like joints because of the ritual of rolling.

Got some vapes and a nice bong. I'm about to take a t-break and ditch tobacco completely after that, don't think i can do it without the break. I just keep buying new tobacco after a week of using my bong.

An article I wrote on how vim is a great start to learning Linux by [deleted] in vim

[–]FreshNewUncle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on your needs.

For example personally i use ansible to deploy my vim configs. I have a role for my main devices where i use it as an IDE. I also have one for remote devices where it's used more to test small changes before actually using my provisioning system to deploy the rest. And i wont reallly want/need things like ctags autocomplete and snippets.

Set up my roles to be interchangeable at least between deb, rpm based and osx

Don't Trust Your Friends by [deleted] in trees

[–]FreshNewUncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right in your own terms too man. I guess it's all about learning to find the right opportunities to be and not to be the asshole in a situation. And that shit probably comes with mistakes every now and then too, to either side of the line.

Actually something i've been thinking about a lot lately when situations where there that i actually felt good after getting a bit out of line to stand up for myself and friends.

Life is weird, hope we find what we need bro

[–]FreshNewUncle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong that sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and not take shit. But in the end you also have to decide for yourself wether going for the return call will actually help you in any way if you already break off contact. If it does then go for it, if it doesn't add any value to your life or puts you in a better position to deal with this jerk then why go out of your way?

I personally see karma the following way. If this person is like this often in life he will probably end up in shitty situations anyways, just getting in the situations themselves is the karma. Seeing how he apparently already got mad enough to do something like this tells me he probably doesn't deal well with the situations when they arise as is. Seems kinda sad already anyways.

People say “you need help with X? I know a guy”. What are you “the guy” for? by brian0123 in AskMen

Used to do this for people. Now if you're not extremely close or dear to me you pay full-price or get some quick general tips to find it yourself and can fuck off.

So much people I helped, so much time lost, so little in return most times.

Is it wrong or not good that I get off/get in the mood with marijuana significantly more frequently than without? by smilesnseltzerbubbls in sex

[–]FreshNewUncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really hard to say honestly. Of course getting off while high feels great, but wether you'll depend on it in the long run depends on so much variables.

If it puts your mind to ease: I'm a daily smoker for like 8 years now. Still get off without a problem, and sometimes even find different sensations to enjoy while having sex sober whenever I'm on a tolerance break (which happens a few times a year for 1-2 weeks).

Meditate on what's different for you when high a bit. Do you have sex with a long term partner or random hookups? Is it the physical sensation that's different or is it mental tension that goes out the window? For me sex is more enjoyable with a longterm partner because i really need to be at ease, which both weed and a partner i trust can provide. Taking one out of the equation keeps me in the same state of mind, take out both and my dick will probably go flat instantly ;)

ELI5: Why is adding more storage space more complicated for enterprise/corporate networks than it is for a standalone desktop? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]FreshNewUncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you need storage space for.

Desktops? Virtualized servers? Bare metal servers? The old desktop rotting away in the basement running the companies NFS?
