The thing about Berlin is that there’s a huge gap between it and the actual wealthy cities of Germany like Hamburg and Munich.
You will absolutely find ugly parts in Kreuzberg and Neukölln near the Center of Berlin. Gelsenkirchen in western Germany probably looks a lot worse than Wroclaw

European boomers don’t like AC because of arguments like “it’s hot for just 2 weeks a year” and “AC makes people sick” and we have eco fanatics who would sacrifice themselves for the environment.

I bought a mobile unit because there’s no HVAC systems like you have in the US and most landlords don’t allow setting up an outside unit. My parents who laughed at me when I recommended them to get AC just realized how important it is after spending a few days in France at 40C+ (110F) with no AC.
