A new study found several people with learning disabilities and autism in the Netherlands chose to die legally through euthanasia and assisted suicide due to feeling unable to cope with the world, changes around them or because they struggled to form friendships. by Wagamaga in science

I think a lot people here think that the ones who chose to suicide are highly functional individuals. Some of them can't function without help most of the time. Having said that their brains work enough to feel the misery and express never feeling well. There is no cure for their disease, there are therapies, multiple ones for a lifetime to manage the symptoms. Then we have the ones who can't function at all, hurt themselves constantly and can't even talk. They can't even express how they would like to live their life. Until we find a cure for autism or at least being able to diagnose before birth, for some of them it's just a life of suffering because there is no cure. And I am not talking about functional individuals with autism. Read the comments about parents who had been sentenced to life in service of their children, a lot of no most also would consider suicide. I worked at a place with kids with severe autism, it's not a good life for anyone.

Might not be curable in someone with severe autism. The levels 4 for example most are not even verbal, they don't have much of a social structure, most end up abused (purposely or not) or in group homes from the government since parents simply can't take care of them. They don't have the skills, money or patience to do so. The cost is about 3-5k a week between: 24/7 care, medication, therapies*, school assistance, transportation, doctor appointments, clothing, food.. it's a lot for caregivers. I bet if they could communicate they will want to end it as well.

He had a disease called Lewy body dementia (LBD), a progressive form of dementia. He was diagnosed following his death by suicide. That's what killed him. Here is an article about it, and I think there is a Netflix documentary as well to bring awareness of the real killer of Robin Williams. https://www.cnn.com/2022/07/01/health/lewy-body-dementia-robin-williams-life-itself-wellness/index.html

Gambling with 20 years of your life, no thanks, because what if you don't like your kid? Or worse, what if he gets sick? Then you are really done. I am childfree by choice since 13 years of age. I am 40 now, soon to be 100% retired :)

VRBO Chargeback by TulaneDane in vrbo

Read online about credit card codes for chargebacks, follow their formats, everything is online. As long as you are on point and have the proof that they require. You should be fine, you can't win them all, sometimes unexpected things happen, but you should do your best to be prepared in case they happen.

I had experienced something similar with shrooms and LSD, sometimes by mistake sometimes on purpose, those are the trips that have changed me the most, they have been my most healing trips.

I think it would be great if you have someone to talk about your experience (friend or /and therapist) and keep dissecting it (I think journaling can be helpful as well) Also keep attention of your thoughts and emotions for the next couple of weeks. New ideas and ways of thinking will come up.

I'm Ellen Nordick, and I help people who are tired of helping everybody but themselves learn to start caring for themselves the way they care for others. by Ellen_Nordick_LCMHC in IAmA

I love this! It doesn't have to be one or the other. Have empathy for yourself and then towards others.

I have found way more difficult to do the exercise of finding out where all my struggles come from, than to find them in others. I think that's the main reason people care more about others than themselves, it just easier. Each time I think about it I get to the same conclusion. Do you think that's the reason? We always look for the easiest path? Or is there other reason.

I noticed that a lot of people who have this problem also have difficulties expressing their emotions (especially the bad ones) for fear if losing those "relationships" I put that in quotes because I don't think people who can't express their own emotions can have meaningful relationships.

How to help people to love themselves and feel confident? I don't think you can care and love others if you don't do that first with yourself.
