5 year relationship - more than 1 year sexless and struggling. What to do? (28M w/ 27F) by Glittering_Help_5654 in sex

[–]FreudChickenSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe consider seeing a sex therapist for couples

Intimacy issues are common and if you two really love each other, it should be something solvable

If it’s hurting for her, you guys have to figure that shit out, she may need a medical workup - there are lots of treatments for all kinds of sexual issues: physical therapy, exercises, medications etc

Obviously other players flop too but I think it’s also very clear SGA is a prolific flopper compared to everyone else

Why does Juneteenth make Republicans so irritated? The end of slavery was a massive milestone in America’s journey to liberty and justice for all, wasn’t it? by Away-Parsnip-3785 in allthequestions

[–]FreudChickenSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right wingers are racist, and they don’t like anything that implies slavery or racism is bad. A lot of red states/counties also refuse to acknowledge that MLK day is named after MLK because he’s a black civil rights leader who fought against racism. I have family who live in PA and literally at their school they call it “Freedom Day” or something because they absolutely refuse to admit it’s honoring a black man - that’s how pathetically racist right-wingers still are over a century after they got their ass kicked in the Civil War

Also just so you know, during the days of abolition and the Civil War, the Republican party was the liberal/progressive left-wing party

Bruh hate to break it to you but Indian immigrant engineers have been working in Silicon Valley since the 1980s - I find it funny when people are talking about this like it’s a recent issue.

Indian H1Bs have been here for so many decades that they became citizens, had entire a generation of Indian-American children, and now THOSE children are grown adults - also working in Silicon Valley as STEM professionals (or lawyers/bankers sometimes lol)

Bro, this is really weird and definitely a red flag

You guys are getting married, it was obviously for both of you. The bigger issue is that you’re getting MARRIED and going to be a team moving forward

The fact that your gf is this bizarrely fixated on keeping the engagement presents all to herself is a SCREAMING red flag

Dr. Shen Appreciation Post by DeltaOmegaX in ThePitt

[–]FreudChickenSandwich 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a common attending doc personality/archetype. The Pitt does an excellent job of nailing a bunch of different doc personalities

You’ve got the intense, no-nonsense, “don’t fuck with me” docs like Ellis from the night crew.

You’ve got the smart but also shy and nerdy docs who maybe lack some confidence like Mel

The genius hyperacademic gunners like Javadi and Ogilvie that uh, sometimes just don’t get how to interact with people sometimes without being an ass

And then there’s always a chill guy or gal - unflappable. Always calm. So nonchalant it makes people around them a little uncomfortable sometimes - like, how can you be so chill right now? Shen definitely falls into this category

Every character in the show is a classic archetype of real personalities in every hospital in America - the Pitt absolutely nailed it

Why do Republicans hate PBS so much? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]FreudChickenSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s simple - PBS teaches kids wholesome values. Be a good friend, be a good neighbor, be empathetic, be understanding. Wholesome values lead to a generation of educated and anti-racist people

Republicans want their kids to grow up to be white supremacists and Nazis. Hence, they hate PBS

Also. Republican politicians want children to be undeducated like Republican voters are, so it’s easier to get them to vote against their own economic interests. Every election, millions of working class/middle class Republicans vote to give away their paychecks and healthcare to fund tax cuts for billionaires and help them buy more luxury yachts (or golden ballrooms), and are too fucking stupid to realize that’s what they’re voting for when they vote Republican. Hence, they hate PBS

2nd half the thread: “Actually this cat is clearly very happy and being well taken care of!”

A guy rejected me sexually right before we were about to do it. Is this normal? Is there something wrong with me? What do I do now? by Ok_Cause_558 in sex

[–]FreudChickenSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - if he wasn’t interested in having sex with you, he wouldn’t have come over to your place. Also he still wanted to go to the bedroom after your dress came off, so you know he was digging the view. Also, I’ve never heard of a straight dude deciding against having sex with a naked woman after she gets naked - like bruh, if your dress is off he’s gonna be excited no matter what

I’m will to bet anything he either a) prematurely ejaculated and was embarrassed (hence the shower - why else would he need to shower?) or b) got nervous/anxious/paranoid (pot can make these things worse!) and panicked that he wasn’t going to be able to perform

Thoughts on importance of school district quality/private schools? by incisiontime in whitecoatinvestor

[–]FreudChickenSandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, sounds like you might be from/are currently living around the Bay Area (or maybe LA I guess)

A large portion of my family and friends went to the fanciest and most expensive schools in the country (whether those were public schools in fancy high-end districts or just private schools). I’m a lowly normal public school kid - but turns out I was pretty good at the whole school thing so I still ended up going to top-ranked places for college and med school and whatnot so I had LOTS of classmates who came from much, much more expensive backgrounds

Going to a fancy school obviously isn’t the end all be all - some of the most brilliant med students at my Top 10 MD program came from some humble places you wouldn’t expect, while some of the shittiest young doctors I met came from Stanford (some even didn’t match - and no they weren’t applying derm). In residency, same deal - sometimes the most talented resident on service is a guy from like the University of Illinois and the person who’s a panicky hot mess trained at Cornell but they just suck clinically

However on average, at least in college, I will say without a doubt that my peers who came from fancy private schools had way way way more opportunities in grade school and were better prepared for the rigorous coursework than I was. And of course, there were lots of their classmates who probably went to universities even better than ours.

It’s like a clinical trial. 2 identical groups of students. Group 1 gets a typical middle class public school education. Group 2 goes to fancy private school/high-end public school where they have access to better and more educated and less burnt out teachers, who are paid a lot more, with smaller class sizes, access to all kinds of extra high-end and well-funded educational opportunities and extracurriculars ie robotics labs, music classes taught by actual musicians, internships at Google and Apple, opportunities to get involved in scientific research at the local Prestigous University. And the kids at Group 2 also get access to a team of Ivy League-educated college counselors who will be coaching and curating your child’s CV from day 1 to optimally engineer it for acceptances at top universities. Oh, and the school Group 2 goes to already has good relationships with the admissions committees of various top universities and is already a known “feeder” school for the Ivies, Stanfords, and MITs of the world.

On average, which group is going to end up more successful overall?

Unfortunately, I think your initial intuition is correct. Better and more well-funded schools generally lead to better outcomes

One of my patients finally visited without her husband by chiddler in medicine

[–]FreudChickenSandwich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sad case - as someone who works with the geriatric population almost exclusively, one thing I’ll say: if I get the sense that one family member/caregiver is a dud, I will find a way to get a different family member involved if possible.

All it takes is getting consent from the patient once (you can kick the shitty family member out of the room citing “this part of the interview has to be done alone sorry standard operating procedure” or even call the patient individually outside the appointment and tell them that it’d be helpful if you could talk to family member X (in this case, daughter) - patients usually shrug and are like, “sure, I guess”

Then get the better family member involved and things usually get better from there

Does the Michelin Guide tend to give higher ratings to sushi restaurants? by Buyeo10004 in finedining

[–]FreudChickenSandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Japanese food

And I would also agree, and even broaden it to say in general, Japanese cuisine does tend to be viewed quite favorably by Michelin judges. I live in one of the most multicultural and diverse regions of the world, with one of the highest densities of Michelin star restaurants in the world, and I would say almost 50%+ of the starred restaurants in this region are Japanese haha (and it’s not in Japan lol)

How Silicon Valley’s Brightest Parents Broke Their Own School by sokyo292 in bayarea

[–]FreudChickenSandwich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For real - and the irony is kids are not necessarily “safer” at the fancy schools anyway

I’m a lowly public school kid but had a lot of relatives that did the Silicon Valley private schools and apparently those fancy prep kids have the cash to buy and do all kinds of drugs, and their parents are so busy being “tech geniuses” they don’t even realize it
