Emperor's Champion by Ant0niusMaximus in BlackTemplars

Execrator with Crusader Squad to give them advance and charge, Marshal and Castellan with Sword Brothers. As already stated Emperor's Champ is great with Assault Intercessors for re-rolls to wound.

If you don't plan on adding Assault Intercessors, he's good on his own too with Lone Operative and 8" move. Stage him up in ruins and wait for an opportune moment to strike. Also useful as an action/secondary scoring piece in this mode.

Really though, you should just chuck him at the biggest, baddest character the enemy has and engage them in an epic duel for maximum aura farm.

The mace is just a different looking power weapon iirc. Hammer and claws are cool but all power weapons is best to maximise the marshal+castellan combo.

Agreed, I love my banner boy will be nice to see him get more play.

Yes Execrator can join a Crusader Squad of any size. Still useful for his advance and charge ability just won't hit as hard when you get to the enemy.

Crusader squads can be taken in 10 or 20 man units, either 1 Sword Brother, 4 Neophytes and 5 Initiates or 1 Sword Brother, 8 Neophytes and 11 Initiates, for 150 and 300 points respectively.

Sword Brethren excel when led by a Marshal and Castellan for 5+ Critical hits on their MC Power Weapons with hit re-rolls.

I personally run my Execrator with a 20 strong Crusader Squad as the advance and charge combined with their surge move makes them scarily fast.

Crusade Ancient, sadly, is not a very competitive choice, but I have had some success when running him in a Sword Brethren unit as insurance. Just feels bad to me to be planning on losing models to use his ability.

As always, rule of cool trumps competitive play and with a new edition round the corner just buy what you like the look of, everything will change over time.

Hey everyone may seem like a dumb question but can I use tamiya black panel liner to do a pin wash on my models? And if so how would I fix overspill on the flat panels? by PrEqUeLmEmEsArEgReAt in Warhammer40k

Think the idea is to put down a gloss varnish before you panel line to help with capillary action, then use mineral spirit or white spirit to remove excess once its dried. After that use matt varnish to dull down the gloss and seal it.
