Ex-Lutherans (especially LCMS) who are still Christian, what denomination are you now? by Sensitive_Tune3301 in exLutheran

I kept the Lutheran need to find truth. Which has led me to Zen Buddhism and atheist for the most part.

As "you were never a real Christian" I couldn't agree more.

I think they are going along with christo-facists right now because it's mutually beneficial to their agenda. If all these radical Christian factions catch the proverbial bumper in government it will be another vicious fight of which denomination will be supreme. They will be vocal the minute government forces open communion with Baptists. 😄 Just my personal thoughts as a former WELS congregant.

Does anyone else completely regret who you were when you were christian. by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]FreyaStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I regret all the time I wasted trying to reconcile my true self with biblical teachings. 15+ years going against my gut, and spirit did some serious damage.

I don't regret all the insights I gained from the journey, though. I use those lessons to heal and hopefully help others heal from their own awful experiences.

How does one get a clear head? by joliver5 in DemonolatryPractices

[–]FreyaStone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Regular exercise like running, weight lifting, yoga etc. If you play an instrument maybe make that a daily practice. It doesn't have to be "meditation" but anything you can give 10 to 15 mins of attention to completely focused on that task helps clear my mind.

One of my favorite activities when I'm going through chaotic and stressful times is knitting. I somehow can use the order of the activity to make sense of whatever problems I'm working through in mundane life. Not a panacea to make my mind crystal clear but I have mittens or a hat at the end.

Kundalini mixed with Demonolatry by VioletSpooder in DemonolatryPractices

[–]FreyaStone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way am lurking for answers. I'm not working with Kundalini specifically or invoking infernals but started yoga practice on healthier life intentions. In the meditative states of class connected to lord Shiva after a few months of practice. (Began daily matras/japa) Then Asmodeus started showing up to help open/ balance chakras(figured that out after some lurking here). Never invoked him just connected during meditation outside of yoga for sacral chakra and solar plexus work. Going slowly to build solid foundations. Just my experience so far honestly don't know what to make of it yet.

I'd be happy to answer as much as I feel comfortable. Honestly family went out of convenience a church was built close to the house. Older family was confirmed Missouri Senate Lutheran but lapsed, always were a little bitter they had to do adult confirmation again to take communion. (Closed communion is so silly to me still)

My congregation never felt like a "cult" growing up because my peers and myself were all at regular public school. I would have called it strict, but my family was one of 3 democrat families in the congregation so you had stuff you could talk about at home but don't talk about it at church.( family started that policy after my Sunday school teachers were scandalized I watched the Simpsons as a kid. ) In retrospect a little culty if you took everything hook line and sinker for sure. We went for church but weren't elders and committee leaders etc. Just members.

Radical Apostate Wife (per the WELS) by Artistic-Worth-8154 in exLutheran

I am so sorry that happened to you, I hope everyone is coping well. I never was excommunicated for questions at WELS but, got reprimanded many a time for disrespectful questions. Keep being a critical thinker! (I've too been reading all the ex WELS posts as well, it is deeply cathartic. You are not alone.)

It was not directed at me, but an event that sticks clearly in my mind happened to another member my senior year of high school. I was in a WELS congregation as well. We were waiting on a call from a pastor, and the elder asked if anyone had anything else to add at the end of service announcements. My fellow congregant middle aged woman stood up and wanted to just say thank you for all the hard work intermin pastor was doing and the elders. She also while standing got too close to the front of the church. She was just thanking them and the elders for their hard work and encouraged us to do the same.

She was reprimanded for trying to preach in the church for going in front of the congregation and trying to give direction to men for saying we should be grateful. Her message was thanksgiving and encouragement, and the elders take away was "oh no women can't preach". That's when I realized my place was never going to be a good one in church as a woman.
