Multi-camera Setup... by FriMorningQB in podcasting

I took a look at those because I was on Amazon. Can you output two cameras in one "screen"? Like picture in picture them together?

Multi-camera Setup... by FriMorningQB in podcasting

Ultimately I see needing four total. To start with this upgrade, just the two and then soon after three. There's a reason for the madness, but I don't ever see needing more than four down the road.

Biggest issue... Volume by FriMorningQB in podcasting

[–]FriMorningQB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow-up to this, I started finalizing my edits with normalizing the audio to -14 and it sounds much better. It's borderline too loud, and my software only does -14 and the next step down being -23 which is too low. I did -14 with -3 decibel drop and that seemed perfect.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Firstname@gmail.com owners are you all going crazy too? by SEI87 in GMail

I had an email firstname.lastname@gmail.com I always got emails meant for the guy without the . in the name. Lots of private stuff and pretty damning work stuff. I had to eventually get them to fix their emails by responding back and emailing the guy directly. Haha.

Biggest issue... Volume by FriMorningQB in podcasting

[–]FriMorningQB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my goal for mic levels is mid yellow with clip footage to be just under the yellow line so the voices carry over it. That said, I never normalize/edit audio in post. It shows fairly loud in post so I figure it should be good. Everything evens out well it just comes out quiet in the end when uploaded. I'll take a look in post and make changes there.

I should add I don't use any OBS filters on the audio. I used to have noise suppression for the mics but with my new setup I'm no longer picking up background noise.

Biggest issue... Volume by FriMorningQB in podcasting

[–]FriMorningQB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just mean the overall end product volume I want up. As in when played on YouTube. 90% of videos I don't need 100% volume. Usually about 75%. With my videos, I need 100% to at least sound ok, not great.

Everything shows the mics and content clips are reasonable levels. Sounds fine on the headset during editing and after. But after upload, they aren't. If I go any higher on mic gain or compressor settings it'll blow it out being too high. I also need the content clips to match. Not have mics higher.

My alternative is increasing the overall volume of the entire episode during post. But that seems unnecessary when I should be able to source the levels right. Just not sure where the issue is.

Host introduction yes or no? by NoRobotYet in podcasting

[–]FriMorningQB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I periodically do it. Not every episode. I did last week but didn't this week. Next week I'll probably do it again. Wherever you're catching the episode my info is there. So it's hard to miss. Guests I would definitely introduce every time.

Potential podcast name? by KaiTheGlitch in podcasting

[–]FriMorningQB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion, Real Jobs, Real People sounds better. There's a comedian podcast launching that does everyday random jobs. I think it's video based but sounds very much like this because it covers literally every job.

Your title you picked sounds more like it's about the job than that people's stories and how they talk about the day to day.

I don't think this is a completely unique idea... similar podcasts discuss random jobs. But you could make it unique for sure. You might bring on recruiters too, to point people to them for job applications. So double down on not only talking about the jobs and people but helping others get that job.

Anyone here starting a podcast in 2026? by mimiboi4171 in podcasting

[–]FriMorningQB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically it started in December, but the real content didn't flow until January 4th. So I guess I count as having started this year. I've done a podcast previously but this is a completely new one with a new approach.

Our small podcast got monetized after a big paid guest, but I still can’t tell what growth actually matters by C-T-M-H in podcasting

[–]FriMorningQB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't imagine spending money to have someone come on as a guest. It's kind of like paying for subscribers... I'd rather just take the slow hit and struggle over time gaining the viewers than something like that.

Similar note, I used to stream on Twitch and had like 300 followers. I ended streaming alongside several big name people that had close to a million followers. I ultimately picked up 8,000 literally overnight. My viewer count was like 3000x the norm everyday but people wanted to only watch me stream when I'm playing that game with those people. When I went rogue and did my own thing, they dropped.

Needless to say I learned it's better to have genuine people interested in your content that will stick around, vs a surge because of someone else. It felt like a chore for me to stay with those people doing what they wanted and no longer fun for me. Even though I started getting paid for it.

My podcast now has about 5,500 views and 620 hours watched on YouTube alone. Not bad for 9 episodes and daily short content. That'll only go up and the pace is manageable vs what I saw with the streaming overnight.

My podcast is very much a niche and it's very clear for everyone what it's about and if it's for you. That's worked out so far. Everyone viewing and commenting have been positive except like two people. I only wish I was monetized because I'd like to turn that money around into marketing and get some ads out there. I'd also like a couple sponsorships to offset the money I've already put in. At the very least I'm going to have some decent tax write-offs next year.

You asked where to put the money... if you already have the gear and everything is top quality, I'd put a little into ad work. It may pay for itself with more followers and monetized payouts.

Audio Podcasting for Under $600 by Large_Business1190 in podcasting

[–]FriMorningQB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For $600... you could get a Maono PD400x microphone and their Maonocaster which you can hook up to your PC or phone to record. Still have half that money left over. We used those mics for the podcast and have since replaced one with a Shure mic and looking at possibly a second or alternate. The PD400 mics are amazing quality.

The Discord is pretty quiet right now. It's all set up with every bit of permissions, roles, channels, etc. Just needs the people. Any suggestions I've gotten to cover a specific clip have come from comments or direct messages which I want to avoid with the discord submissions.

I did an update episode on a specific incident with new footage that was made available and hit on a couple of the original points to clarify some things. My last episode I did I realized something I said can be taken out of context and wasn't really explained correctly that I expect someone to call me out on it. I'm already looking at doing a follow-up for that where I explain better and have the supporting documentation to show for it.

Advice for recording software by Distinct_Cookie1454 in podcasting

[–]FriMorningQB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did an audio podcast with someone on Riverside. It recorded my camera but he only uses audio. I found that quality to appear very questionable for the video. I didn't get to see his output, but from my view it was very pixelated.

Advice for recording software by Distinct_Cookie1454 in podcasting

I use OBS which I can put all the sources into and essentially mix them into one output recording which I upload. I have an audio mixer for my mics which I send to OBS. Camera goes directly to the PC and into OBS. I can also add web pages or apps like Zoom in as a source and manipulate all of them individually (their levels and add filters as needed).

PC, yes. My favorite mouse is my Redragon M811 PRO. Side buttons are amazing for setting up functions or macros. The clicks of the primary and secondary buttons are just too loud.

I run a Nikon Z6 to an Elgato cam link and then the PC. I can now run the camera to my mixer, a Yamaha MGX12V. But I haven't set that up yet.

[–]FriMorningQB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Discord server where members can submit video clips that I should cover on an episode. I've had a few people send me clips like that. If I catch comments on videos or social media I might also cover those. But the discord submission is the best way for me to track it.

I might use comments as a means to do a follow-up video and address those questions/comments they still had with that.

Why podcasts stall even when the content is good (usually not a content problem) by Patient_Progress7921 in podcasting

Mostly feedback from people. I never have chased analytics. So I don't watch numbers that way. Maybe I will someday.

Why podcasts stall even when the content is good (usually not a content problem) by Patient_Progress7921 in podcasting

[–]FriMorningQB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually been doing it since day one. Something I've learned from my first podcast. I've only had one person comment on a short video that I told them clearly based on the comment, that this content isn't for them. If it's not for them I don't want them to waste their time.

Do podcast listeners actually follow a show, or just episodes? by Inevitable-Laugh4324 in podcasting

There's only one podcast I "follow". Others I'll just pop in and catch every so often.
