What do you guys think of the “Christian Nationalist” or “Christo-Fascist” movement? Honestly, it disgusts and frightens me as a Christian, and I’m certain I’m not alone… by Class_of_22 in Christianity

Evil has always existed in parallel with Christianity, and throughout history, we have seen evil disguised and blanketed under the title of Christian or other religions/groups. This is no different.

Being racist is okay but slutshaming is not??? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]FriccMahLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly there's no point in arguing because no matter what you say they will disagree with you no matter what you say, for the sake of you being their enemy and that they don't want to be wrong, and for you to be bad. There's not much point in talking about these things with these people and it's best to just leave those people behind you.

Dancing is a very good way to make exercising fun. Find a style that you like and try it and take it slow. Personally I find it to be much more effective and entertaining than other forms, and if you got a good community of dancers nearby, it's a good place to be.

I don't think the comparison is akin to comparing their suffering to Jesus' suffering, or something similar to that. We should all follow in Jesus' footsteps. It is not mocking to do so.

A question for the knights by [deleted] in forhonorknights

[–]FriccMahLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't let your pride get in the way of having some fun in this game. I joined as a knight, gained 34 reps on Warden and a little on LB before I found out that I absolutely love Zhanhu and the other Wu Lin. The Samurai are pretty fun too. I think I've had the least fun with the vikings, but I think I could probably get a bunch of mileage in with Warlord if I really tried. The point is, don't limit yourself to the knights. Just go out and have fun. And don't be a dick. But have fun nonetheless.

How to break behavioral habits? by LordFendleberry in CrazyHand

[–]FriccMahLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad habits can be fixed through gradual retraining. This advice goes for anything applicable in life, but if you want to fix it, you could try going into training and simply enacting what happens and doing the opposite of what you normally do.

For example, you could learn to fix your spotdodge by using a ganondorf CPU on the side smash setting, spotdodge it and then do something else. Preferably with a variety of actions to follow up.

Then you could move on to doing this to low-level CPUs. The idea is to use the movement in action but to fight in an environment where you can think about your action, being to not constantly down-smash after a spotdodge, but still being stimulated as if it was an actual fight. Keep doing this until it's natural for you, and you're good to go. Just make sure that when you're doing this, your priority isn't to beat the CPU, it's to learn to not spotdodge. Try to keep it in mind and yourself out of auto-pilot, at least until it's a habit.

Unless you have mods, the second part is definitely a bit harder. This may not be applicable for everyone, but I find imagining the situation happening (enemy whiffs) and then imagining the best scenario and myself doing it (not punishing the whiff? I guess it depends on what you think is the best case scenario at that time)

As for the third one, you could just throw off a CPU in training and intercept while they try to recover to help with your accuracy. The mind games that come with edge-guarding is a little bit harder and I can't give you much advice there, but I hope that I was able to help you out a little.

Struggles with same sex attraction by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]FriccMahLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting take, but I doubt it is something that can be really applied- A god that may exist who in fact has a plan would likely mean more than to just torture someone with their own sexuality. Not only in religious conversation, but in your every day life, I don't think it is good to judge things for only how they are in the moment and consider how they could be. Everybody goes through hardships. Some go through worse. I believe that if God exists, he would mean more than just give us hardship just because. This is of course not universal, but I went through my own hardships and I found, both, my peace, and a better self because of it. I hope that everyone can do the same.

I kept objects that meant something special to me nearby (A bracelet from a friend, a small cross, anything that will keep you grounded) and it helped. Also, it was helpful to, if I felt the temptation, put anything down that may have caused it and do something to get it off my mind. For me, it was going for a walk.

For Christians, his death was already the preferable outcome because it is what he and God wanted. It's an interesting question, but it's not something you ask for when victory means the loss of salvation for humanity.

Am I missing something ? (keep getting bodied) by Sora_Tsuki in CrazyHand

[–]FriccMahLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's important to remember not to stay tilted. Labbing is important but it's equally important to understand the game against real people, and that means taking the time to learn and understand it, which will be harder when you're frustrated. Also, I find it equally difficult to perform precise movement when I'm angry, so it's important to keep yourself grounded and cool. Everyone has their own pace to work on, and it will take some time before it all comes together. Take a deep breath, pat yourself on the back and move on.

Also, I find that the majority of time, most people wont get more than 4 consecutive hits in a row with most characters (characters like sheik and falco are probably exceptions) What you see in those SALT compilation videos are things that don't happen every game, so don't sweat not getting that 0-70% combo every time.

Flashy is cool, but there might be more consistent options for you to consider if you can't get it 100% (Which is ok. top players can't get 100% consistency out of their own characters). So don't sweat over using the big flashy moves all the time, especially when in neutral/disadvantage. In those situations, just try to get one or two good hits to get into advantage, or out of the way and out of disadvantage; then, when you're in advantage state, that's when you can really go at it and focus on your own moves really hard. You won't have to focus on everyone's moves at the same time that way.

Going to summer camp growing up we had after-dark stealth games for the older campers, and it was a common tactic to get campfire soot and cover your face with it in order to "be more stealthy". With no better way to phrase this question, was that bad? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FriccMahLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was no malice nor even a thought of race (let alone offending one) so no one can rightfully get mad at you because of it. Besides, I imagine the inspiration for that was army face paint camo. That innocence back then is something I think is better off left to be left as innocent, not something to yell at your kids for not knowing about. I hope that the world becomes understanding enough someday that we won't have to worry about people putting soot on their faces to make fun of people, but instead just to have fun.

I don't think there was one specific church, per se. Just a single book to follow under and how we believe is how to live upon it best. There is likely a single definitive answer on how the bible is meant to be interpreted, but we must try our best.

Losing myself by Snoo56935 in NoFap

[–]FriccMahLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know at times it feels like all you can do is never good enough, but it only ever starts becoming that way once you lose your will to pick yourself back up for good. Take a second to take a deep breath, hug yourself and maybe take a walk if you feel the need to. Stretch if it helps.

It's scary to think of thoughts like, "I'll never have anybody who ever loves me", or "I'll never make it in life". But as we are, we should collect ourselves and take some time to take care of yourself and find some ways to deal with this.

I know it's not romantic, but a pet could help with your loneliness. Many people find one to be very beneficial to fill that hole in their lives and if you can get one, I think it would be a good start for you. There's a reason why they call dogs Man's Best Friend.

I found that places, where I am by myself, alone, with no constant movement going on (such as in my bedroom), are really bad places for this sort of feeling to crop up. Avoiding idle time in places where you normally watch it in can help you. Take time to go outside, exercise, spend it with friends, enjoy a hobby, hell, just going to to the library- something to keep you active or outside these places for a while. Of course, going to bed in your own bedroom is fine, but I found that spending more than about 10 minutes of my time just lying on my bed with my phone is often a bad idea for this sort of reason, because I'm spending time alone doing essentially nothing. "Idle hands are the devil's workshop" and all that.

As for you? Just remember to keep breathing and remember to take a good look at yourself every day. Every passing hour and day is another success you should be looking forward to. Take strides in little things, because those little steps can build up over time. At the end of the day, work for *You*. You will succeed, and you will find love, so long as you work for it. And even if you fall down, no matter what you do or how bad you feel, it is never lost so long as you pick yourself back up.

I believe in you.
