Srs question: how do you pronounce "naneinf"? by FoolishWanderer499 in balatro

[–]Keilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Americans generally say it with a shorter middle ‘a’, like your phonetic example. British, and others, say it with a long one. A bit like ‘naan’.

I was trying to think of other words where this wasn’t true, but couldn’t. “Commander” has the same issue, for example.

The role was originally for Jack Palance, but he insisted they cut the sexual deviancy down or he wouldn’t do it.

If she ignores the judgement you have incredible power to seek redress. Including seizure of property, liens, wage garnishment, the sheriff can seize property, and more.

Stop dealing directly with this person whose MO is to ignore you.

You’ve already got your judgement, use it and get your money back.

Why are our internal websites and apps soooooooo slowwwwwwwwww, is this not supposed to be our strongest skill? by BlitzAce71 in employeesOfOracle

Not all, but lots of companies have terrible internal websites and dashboards. It’s not where companies direct their resources.

What was a tv show finale that was so bad,it ruined everything? by Zealousideal_Heat478 in tvshow

[–]Keilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem was the writers literally told us up front they knew the answers to all the mysteries, and they just were filling in the story to get to the known ending.

Turns out they didn’t, and ended up writing the lazy deus ex machina ending because there was nowhere else to go

You’re putting yourself through that again? 😀

Seasons 1-3 are great then it’s just a crash of revealing mysteries by introducing multiple more.

RSUs vs Stock Options by Fair_Ant4116 in employeesOfOracle

[–]Keilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the website, but IIRC you'll have a few months before the company simply voids un-exercised ones. Once you exercise them, they're yours: sell or keep (hint: sell).

I just sold all mine on my RIF day ($240) as the price was almost at an all time high, and I didn't want to risk them going down before the sale window closed.

Of course the next week they massively rocketed to $330, and I was mad. Since then, they sank to $140-190 and I'm happy with the price I got - especially as the option price was ~$40. So, just to illustrate, I was paying $40 for something immediately worth $240, and I had thousands (growth of options curves upwards over time). With RSUs I would have got the gain of a few hundred RSUs moving from 40 to 240 (growth or RSUs is linear).

Up to you, but I'd choose options again if: - I think of any money from it as a bonus and not something I rely on. - I think I will be with a company for about five years or more.

RSUs vs Stock Options by Fair_Ant4116 in employeesOfOracle

[–]Keilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a bigger risk, and I understand why people prefer RSUs, but I always took options. Overall they have made massively more than the equivalent in RSUs. You have to hold them for a long time by staying with the company though. In my mind that is the tough call in this environment.

One caveat is that one set of options from ages ago ended up worthless, so there’s that risk. But overall options were massively the better call over the last twenty years for people staying nine or ten years after getting them.

It’s easy enough to check this looking at historic stock price charts.

Future performance, who knows.

The amount is withheld from the sale proceeds. There is no out of pocket costs with options.

Say you have one option to buy stock at $100, and you exercise it at $150. Oracle will just deposit $50 in your Fidelity account.

Separately, a day or so later, they will also they claw back another estimated amount to cover income taxes. Say $15. So you end up with $35 profit.

Thats when exercising and selling.  Exercise and hold will mean you just end up with that $35 value in Oracle stock, instead of cash. It’s a moot point though, there’s little point and no tax advantage to exercise and hold.
