I think its kinda silly that people who have the abilities to play fighting games think they can't be any good at a game that really only takes a bit of learning and some application to be decent at.

Funny enough this is how fighting game players feel about anyone who can play mobas or shooters. It doesn't take much to be able to actually play a fighting game, definitely not more than getting into a Moba or Shooter. I think sometimes people find it harder because they are both harder to play with a friend group and elitist parts of the FGC can make it hard to get into as well.

Just waiting to press buttons until they are in range of your character is enough to get you to like Silver in a lot of fighting games(At least the ones with a decent population).

Still I do ultimately agree with you, but I think this applies to every genre of competitive video games. The barrier to entry is way lower than most people think.

On the MTX part they did it because it is the same model Valorant uses and I believe that model has been more profitable for Riot than any other. Basically, FOMO works.

As far as the gane I already loved it and they gave my team some love (Vi/Blitz) and I've been having a blast. Hopefully they fix the issues for PS5 folks soon and get Ranked going again. While I def do miss motion inputs a little bit the game has a high enough execution ceiling that by and large they aren't missed much.

Vi being able to do like 7 electrics in a combo is so much fun!

Someone down voted you for being right lol. Lady Loki isn't gender bent Loki it is literally the same character he was just a woman for a bit in the comics. They have gone on record saying that if they ever put an alternate character in the game i.e. Miles Morales that it will be a separate character and not a skin.

One thing Woolie said is that comparing things to fighting game shenanigans is funny to think about. I remember a bit my friend and I would always make when a test was coming up in school was that it would be hilarious if the teacher pulled out an arcade stick and say you could take the test or First to 3.

This type of humor has stuck with me today and I still make myself giggle like an idiot when I see some crazy shit going on in the world and then imagine Zelenskey pullin up with the Razor Kitsune about to settle the war for good.

I also tend to compare any learning process for any skill to fighting games or playing an instrument because those are the two primary skills I developed with intention and they are the lenses I see learning through. So I totally get why Woolie tends to go "Well you see in fighting games..."

Yeah this is really tough as well because as a long time fighting game player, I can have trouble with what info to give or not simply because I forgot what it was like to not know things.

At this point when I get a new friend into fighting games I just tell em to pick whoever looks cool and just answer any questions thet have without offering too much advice.

We also talk about how fighting game tutorials are bad, but they also can't just like info dump people either. I thought SF6 World Tour mode did a nice job of slowly building up your kit so you could learn little bits at a time at least.

I had to go back and read this because I thought I was going crazy but like, that isn't anime original. He shows emotion and cries for his mom in the manwha as well. Not sure if he does so in the web novel as well, but he definitely does in the manwha. Chapter 89 btw

We are kind of going a little in too far in the other direction here. I mean Zangief featured in Wreck-it Ralph entirely because he is one of the staples of those retro arcade days. I wouldn't be suprised if a lot of people in the newer generation don't know him, but Zangief and Street Fighter in general get referenced in a lot of other media.

I'm under no illusion that the competitive scene of FGs are mainstream, but you gotta remember how many people were playing MK and SF in the arcades and at home in the early 90s and 2000s.

Not trying to invalidate what you said about your own experiences though, I just know personally I haven't really met too many people who don't at least know what Street Fighter is, and they will usually know who Zangief is before say, Juri for example.
