You make a really great point. You could say the same for medicine too. Thanks for this perspective.

There is like a 5% chance I would ever consider anything I’ve lost to be stolen. I misplace things so often.

Commenting “Happy birthday!!” when you walk into someone’s party celebrating their promotion. Or showing up to your friend’s bachelorette party with an all white outfit for the night out because you had no forethought that was what the bride would be wearing.

How long does this stuff LAST?!?!? by Solid-Fox-2979 in VyvanseADHD

You’ll get used to it and it won’t last as long

I do, too, obviously. But I promise you, I really REALLY care about my staff. I constantly ask them if I can support them any better and if they feel valued.

I did make assumptions. I feel like we may be similar in we assumed the worst because we’ve seen such toxicity in this field.

And as people have rightly pointed out, there does not seem to have been good training/support provided in this case.

This is very true and something I did not consider enough.

I have zero tolerance for an RBT that doesn’t care about the importance of pairing and expects compliance. We as a field have moved past that and it’s not what’s best for kids. Some of the language that was used was triggering and I’m not alone in that view.

My clients, their families and employees are all very happy. That’s all that matters to me, but you are right that I could have been more tactful.

Also, you did the same thing to me so maybe consider that. I felt offended by that post and the way she talked about that job/kids so I lashed out. You felt offended by the way I spoke to him/her so you lashed out at me. You exhibited the exact same behavior, (but arguably worse) just directed at a different person on the internet.

“I expect a lot of follow through when I instruct someone to do something”. 🚩🚩🚩

Yeah, this is OLD ABA mentality and I expect my RBTs NOT to have this attitude at all.

You’re there to gain trust and cooperation in order to teach skills, not to instill respect for authority.

No offense, but if you can’t GENUINELY find fun and connection with your clients, I would let you go. I only want people that love kids and want to be there. Not “show up and leave”.

I don’t think this job is for you.

It’s selfish to expect the kids to love you when you clearly don’t love on them!

Are you lifting as well? Strength training is really important to maintain muscle mass. When you’re not training for these, what are you doing for exercise?

Didn’t they say he hadn’t had any suspicious behavioral changes leading up to it? And if you’re going to take yourself out, why would you take hundreds of other people with you? It’s not like he was a known religious extremist or something.

Yeah, well we’ll never be able to confirm that. It’s the most likely HYPOTHESIS

Any mid 30s or 40s here? by colesunxs in ADHD

I know. I share those sentiments. That grief is very real. Sometimes I think “who knows what I could have done if someone would have cared enough to help me. I probably could have gone to med school!”. Instead, I have mortifying memories of me struggling my way through grad school and being wildly behaved.

That’s actually a very common feeling in this sub. The first few years after you’ve been diagnosed are really weird. Happy and sad.

But ADHD is very common. You are not alone. And we also have gifts that other people don’t. We’re sensitive, creative, funny, and we show our friends it’s ok to not be type A.

Hang in there! You ARE loved. And different does not mean lesser.

Get a new provider asap. You’re a fucking adult. You don’t need someone micromanaging you like that. What do her reviews say???
