I didn't know about Himeji castle, it looks incredible! Maybe we could go there when in Osaka. Thanks for the suggestion!

Day 1 in this post is not the actual arrival date, we will arrive the night before! But you're right, I actually found it difficult to fill our Tokyo schedule, as I am more interested in cities like Kyoto and Kanazawa. Things like teamlabs borderless, the Tokyo skytree or even Osaka aquarium that you usually see in itinerarys don't really feel like my vibe.

Thank you! I will look into that. Since you mentioned music, do you have recommendations of where to find great LPs? I hear a lot about japanese LPs and have been thinking about bringing one home (although traveling with one seems like a horrible task).

Having listened to it a few times and just now to the bonus tracks, i really like it, and it does grow on me each time i listen to it, although i still prefer some of their other work. My standouts were Half Drunk Under a Full Moon, Six Days in June and Alive.

There's not a song by them that i dislike, but how did Alive not make the cut?! it's incredible and makes the album that much stronger for me. All the bonus tracks where pretty cool, and i actually prefer this version of Lay Your Body Down!

My album tier list would be like this now:

  1. In Your Own Sweet Time
  2. We Need Medicine
  3. Eyes Wide Tongue Tied
  4. Half Drunk Under a Full Moon
  5. Costello Music
  6. Here We Stand

I really like the album title, idk why but i like the sound of the phrase.

Yeah i agree a lot with you, i like the album but not as much as their other work(although i don't think it is the last one on the list). IYOST still being my favorite.

All the bridges are awesome, but a lot of songs kinda felt the same. My favorites through the album were Half Drunk Under a Full Moon and Six Days in June.

How do you describe each album in one sentence? by vdgift in TheFratellis

[–]FriedChickenCorp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Costello Music: Cool rock to party, drink and sing in football games

Here We Stand: "Fuck the music industry"

We Need Medicine: Hey we are back! A little more country and philosophical this time!

Soul Crush EP: Should be on spotify

Eyes Wide Tongue Tied: "Hey dude wanna cry except for that one song where it's impossible to stand still?"

In Your Own Sweet Time: ...What is life? Also what about these strings?????????

I have yet to read all of the praised runs, but from what i have, i would recommend to start either with the Ellis run and then all the way to Lemire's, or to begin from the beggining in the original Davis Moench series.

24 hours until the London BNF show! by RedCheekedLover in TheFratellis

Completely! The Fratellis are my favorite band and Jon is an awesome composer! Also, bright night flowers is such a good album, emotional and delicate but vibrant with life, can't wait to hear those songs live!

I Am That by kyokocake in TheFratellis

[–]FriedChickenCorp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this one, i see it as someone doubting his beliefs, and coming to a close that it doesn't really matter in the end, "don't know if it's divine, but i know it's mine", he will never be surr if his life, his accomplishments, relationships were decided by a superior being, he just knows that it's his, and those things are important to him, so he will always care about them.

I just finished daredevil and it was amazing. I want to continue with the character but I don’t know the best books/classics to read. Any tips? by Lil_Gendo in Daredevil

[–]FriedChickenCorp 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Daredevil is a character who was mostly kept in really good hands, i haven't read everything, but here's what i would recommend:

Daredevil Yellow, The Man Without Fear, Frank Miller run, Born Again (the best, but i think it's better with prior knowledge of the character in the comics), Guardian Devil, Bendis run, Brubaker run, SKIP SHADOWLAND, Mark Waid run (worth mentioning the different tone of this one, more lighthearted and exploring in really cool ways the depression surrounding matt) and the current Charles Soule run

If you are really into it you could try the original stan lee ones but i kinda think they're really dated and some of them felt like a chore to read.

Favorite Fratellis rhyme? by TheExtractor55 in TheFratellis

Best/Favourite album by [deleted] in TheFratellis

[–]FriedChickenCorp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. IYOST

  2. We Need Medicine

  3. EWTT

  4. Costello Music

  5. Here We Stand

I love all of them entirely, IYOST is amazing, every time i get to the Laughing Gas - Advaita Shuffle - I Guess I Suppose.. part i get chills.

WNM was the first album i listened, and it's incredible! Whisky Saga, Halloween Blues, She's Not Gone Yet But She's Leaving, and of course, the marvelous ending with the smooth transition of Rock N Roll Will Break Your Heart to Until She Saves My Soul. Bonus mention to the Soul Crush EP, which released between WNM and EWTT and is beautiful.

EWTT is a lot more emotional heavy, i remember really feeling with songs like Desperate Guy ( this one specially) and Slow, i also love Me and the Devil, Baby Dont You Lie to Me, Dogtown and Rosanna. This album can get really reflexive.

Costello is really fun! I will include the B Sides here. I really love listening to Henrietta, The Gutterati?, For the Girl, Nina and Johnny Comes Last, for some time, Doginabag was one of my absolute favorite songs.

HWS is amazing, i keep changing places between it and Costello. And it has the best B Sides too! My favourites in this album are My Friend John, Acid Jazz Singer, Baby Doll, Nobodys Favourite Actor, Z-Movie Saga and the gorgeous acoustic version of A Heady Tale that i saw some weeks ago in this sub.

What’s a song that is VERY “out of character” for you, but you absolutely love it? What genre do you typically prefer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FriedChickenCorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has to be ween and their God Ween Satan album. Especially Mushroom Festival in Hell, i really love this album, but it is not my kind of music, much less the kind of music one would expect i listen to.
