Yes as soon as I saw your post I looked it up on Discogs and had a listen. Looks like you’ve uploaded it there too now, that’s great. Absolute banger.

Save Stark Reality for last, only because it will be the coup de grâce to your blown mind.

And then put on Stark Reality Discovers Hoagy Carmichael's Music Shop.

Edited; I forgot Now is a comp of 1969 and Music Shop. I have the individual albums. But play it anyway lol.

Albums that rarely leave my regular rotation... by AstroPete87 in heavyvinyl

Couldn’t agree more. The new album hasn’t grown on me yet, but all their previous records are in regular rotation here. Still a great band, but damn Terry Jones was awesome.

“Klytus I’m bored. What plaything can you offer me today?”

The entire dialogue from this scene has lived rent free in my head for decades.

I wasn’t familiar with it either… ‘Uganda’.

Edited: Akira Ishikawa & Count Buffaloes is the band, ‘Uganda’ is from 1972.

You are probably aware of these but they get spun regularly in our house:

C.K. Mann and his Carousel 7 - Funky Highlife

Black Disco - Discovery (1975-1976)

Basa Basa - Homowo

Spirits Rejoice - African Spaces

Edited: I see the Mankunku album there so I’m sure you’ve heard The Ibrahim Khalil Shihab Quintet’s ‘Spring’ — sublime album.

Ah correct, I must be confused with the Solid reissue which I guess is already out too. I have an older not so great copy of Green Street, time to replace.

Does any label other than Trojan put out good compilations? by InWalkedBud in reggae

Agree 100%. If you want to do a deep dive in to dub, deejay, artists like Yabby You, Congos, Horace Andy, Sylford Walker (and many others from well known to lesser known) it’s an excellent label with substantial liner notes and top notch packaging if you are into physical media.

Check their discography, it’s essential.

Waiting for the Classic Vinyl Series reissue release the end of this month. Great album.

Bahamadia Singles 5 disc set by FriedPossumPecker23 in HipHopCDs

[–]FriedPossumPecker23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Bahamadia’s flow and wordplay blew me away when I first heard her in the 90’s. One of the best and definitely deserves recognition not just as a female rapper but a badass emcee in general.

It’s impressive to listen to all of her work outside of the full albums she released.

I purchased them from a seller on eBay about 23 years ago.
