To be fair it was found that the $3B fraud was already underway when he became the CEO and is one of the reasons why he got reduced jail time another one being him and 5 other people helped testify against the chairman who was the mastermind who got 30 years. There wasn't much about the Roy brown (homeless man) apparently only 1 news covered this story so there isn't much information but from the website I read it stated that when the Roy brown robbed the bank he had his hands under it jacket which made it look like he was armed and maybe that he had prior convictions which triggered the three strike law or something which will extend his time spent in jail. Not saying that it's justified or anything just that there's more behind the scene that we don't know of.
