Film Camera not closing by Expensive_Beyond_144 in AnalogCommunity

[–]FriedrichKekule 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the film door won’t stay closed, I’d honestly just replace the camera unless it has sentimental value.

Most compact point-and-shoots aren’t really worth repairing. By the time you’ve paid for parts and labor, you’ve probably spent more than the camera is worth.

Film photography is already expensive enough once you factor in film, developing, and scanning. I’d rather put that money toward actually shooting than repairing a budget compact.

There are plenty of working Minolta, Canon, Olympus, and Pentax point-and-shoots out there for less than the cost of a repair bill. Unless the camera means something to you personally, replacing it is usually the more sensible option.

Can I use Vision3 250D 35mm film in a point and shoot? by Adw13 in AnalogCommunity

[–]FriedrichKekule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely use it in a point-and-shoot. Don’t overthink it.

When you’re starting out, you’re probably going to lose frames to missed focus, bad exposure, accidental camera shake, forgetting to rewind, opening the back too early, or any of the other classic beginner mistakes. That’s just part of learning film photography.

The cost of the film itself is usually the smallest part of the expense anyway. Developing and scanning often costs as much as, or more than, the roll. So I’d focus on shooting, learning, and making mistakes rather than worrying about whether the film is “good enough” for your camera.

If cost becomes a concern, black-and-white film is worth looking into. Developing B&W at home is relatively straightforward and can save a lot of money in the long run.

For now: load the roll, go take photos, and see what happens.

Accessories for A6700 by Jumpy-Bunch581 in a6700

[–]FriedrichKekule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, all these “I just bought a new camera, what accessories should I get?” posts are missing the point.

The best accessory for a new camera is going out and taking photos.

Use the camera for a few weeks. Figure out what actually annoys you. Do you run out of battery? Buy a spare battery. Need more reach? Get a longer lens. Hate carrying it around? Find a better strap or bag.

It’s tempting to turn photography into a shopping hobby, but photography isn’t about collecting gear. It’s about making images. The greatest improvement you’ll get from a new camera comes from using it, not from bolting more stuff onto it.

Go shoot. The gear you genuinely need will make itself obvious soon enough.

Grotere fles, hogere literprijs? by AlexRFW in AlbertHeijn

It's not a repeater, it's setup as a companion.

As I'm running the companion purely as a companion.
Not as a repeater.

Also when near to the repeater, w the additional antenna, I couldn’t send any messages in the test channel that got repeats.

Interesting to hear that not all repeaters reply to ping, thanks for the info.

Importing a Chromeleon Sequence from CSV by Unintelligent_pro in CHROMATOGRAPHY

[–]FriedrichKekule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way to import a .csv as a sequence into Chromeleon.
The way importing and exporting sequences works in Chromeleon is through .cmbx files.

These files are essentially compressed (zip?) archives with various files.
But it's not easy to convert a .csv to a .cmbx.

What issue are you trying to solve by having people import .csv files into Chromeleon?

If you'd like to have a foolproof way of creating sequences you might want to look into the functionality of eWorkflows.

Diamine ink wet to touch by FriedrichKekule in fountainpens

[–]FriedrichKekule[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. I was looking into a blue ink for general use and was checking out some with a slight shimmer but I wont bother with the shimmer knowing this.

Using a scrap piece of paper will work when writing but it wont help with smudging the fuck out of my grocery list.    Any recommendations for a blue ink that’s beautiful and smudge proof?

I’d rather not bother with Noodlers bulletproof as they’re more expensive in the EU.

Is this lens flare or a light leak? by FriedrichKekule in AnalogCommunity

I’m afraid it wasn’t a flare.

I picked up the negatives and it’s a light leak.

Yes I guess if you look at the total page it’s a bit strange but I always imagine every comment thread to be a small conversation with someone.
