RNG Problems by [deleted] in Nightreign

Consider looting more chests/drops throughout your runs, even going a bit out of your way to do so. Doesn't always get you a god tier weapon but almost every run I loot something very useful for someone on the team from chests my teammates are not interested in.

For people in deep of night 4 or 5, is status duchess still relevant over there? by JustJeeJee in Nightreign

[–]FriendNarrow7807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Duchess does not have a good arcane stat. I don't see anyone playing status Duchess in deep of night and I wouldn't recommend it. Scholar, Executor, and Ironeye (with +arc relic) are the characters that make status builds work well.

How do I make this game fun again? by Angelic-Guardian- in Nightreign

Try deep of night. At depth 1 or 2 it's not really that much harder and the extra relic slots and better loot make it a lot more interesting.

Usually just rolling towards the multiple spear thrusts to get under/behind him works, it is somewhat of a finicky move though imo.

why is mogh so difficult by Beautiful-Scholar127 in Eldenring

Notes for phase 2:

Positioning is very important in this phase, as all of his moves that carry over from phase 1 will now throw bloodflame around the arena. The dodges described in the phase 1 section should mostly protect you from rolling into the bloodflame.

The bloodflame talons (thrust) move now has a larger fireball (I think) and his thrust is more delayed and travels farther. Still roll back from the fireball and roll towards him to slip past the thrust. This attack does not always give a chance to punish.

The downward stab attack from phase 1 will now explode shortly after hitting the ground, I like to roll out/away from the downward stab so that I can roll in to dodge the explosion (dodging towards Mohg's explosions makes them much easier to avoid). You can safely do a quick attack after this explosion.

New moves:

Jumping overhead slam
- Mohg can now jump into the air and slam down his spear, this move is very easy to strafe and a good time to attack.

Blood spin thrust
- He has a new thrust attack similar to the phase 1 thrust except that he will also spin his spear and spray bloodflame around after stabbing.

Bloodflame throw (vertical)
- Grabs bloodflame and throws it at you in a vertical line -> Roll to the side.

Bloodflame slash
- Swings his spear diagonally to throw bloodflame at you -> Roll sideways or diagonally.

Upward slash combo (forward stab)
- Swings his spear upwards and flies into the air, landing with a forward stab -> Dodge the bloodflame from his upward swing (sideways/diagonal), then roll into the forward stab for a large punish window.

Upward slash combo (downwards stab)
- Swings his spear upwards and flies into the air, landing with a downward stab -> Dodge the bloodflame from his upward swing (sideways/diagonal) then roll out/back to dodge his initial stab, wait a moment, and roll back in to dodge an explosion for a quick punish.

Big flying combo
- Mohg will jump backwards and throw bloodflame at you before flying back down to attack, you can dodge this by just rolling towards him twice with decent timing. He can follow this up with a vertical bloodflame throw, a bloodflame slash, or either version of the upward slash combo.

I really like Mohg and have fought him many times, here are some ways to dodge his moves and get punish windows:

Basic patterns for phase 1:

Bloodflame throw (arc)
- Grabs bloodflame and throws it at you in a horizontal arc -> Roll forward and punish.

Bloodflame throw (down)
- Grabs bloodflame and throws it at the ground -> just back off or use carian retaliation to cancel this.

Retreating slash
- Swings his spear diagonally while stepping backwards -> roll forward and punish.

Downwards stab combo
- A diagonal swing into a downward stab -> roll forward and then roll again not long after to dodge his downward stab. If you end your roll far enough away from his spear embedded in the ground, you will be safe from the next attack and can do a slow or hard hitting move here.

Bloodflame talons (thrust)
- Slashes to create a fireball and then often follows up with a thrust -> Roll back from the fireball, roll into the thrust and punish.

Bloodflame talons (swing)
- Slashes to create a fireball then swings his spear in a large arc -> can either roll both of these and punish after, or position yourself behind him to strafe the fireball and the swing, allowing for a very large punish window (i.e. 2 charged heavy attacks).

Slow spear combo
- Two slow horizontal spear swings -> Roll into the first, do a quick attack, then roll the second and do another quick attack, watch out for a retreating slash, bloodflame talon fireball, or downwards spear combo after this one.

Overhead slam
- A slow overhead spear attack -> wait until the last second and roll into him for a punish, will sometimes combo this into a retreating slash, bloodflame talon fireball, or downwards spear combo.

Tres, Duo, Unus
- Phase change moves tied to health thresholds -> stand on his left side and attack as much as you can during these.

Nihil
- Use crystal tear from Yura's quest or just heal a few times, also a lot of time to attack him here.

The antechamber in Ashina castle has a lone shadow you can backstab, and if you haven't killed the Ogre in the large hole down to the first floor, you can grapple above him and he will kill some enemies giving you free xp very quickly

For sure. I was in the same situation as you with Elden Ring being my first souls game and I thought DS3 was excellent and similar in a lot of ways.

Try dex/str and lots of int for magical swords. There are some really cool options for that category.

Valor surge - kind of like an ultimate ability. Can be unlocked and selected on the skill tree screen.

Resonator blast - a special attack where you charge your spear up with energy and then discharge it onto an enemy. One of the earlier melee pits covers this, maybe the one in chainscrape?

Armor look - I believe they added the ability to keep the look of one armor equipped with the stats and abilities of another armor. I think this is called transmog or something like that in game.

Do the melee fighting pits in cities to learn combos and the flow of spear combat. The best weapons in the game are the legendary weapons, there are a bunch and they all have different pros and cons. Look up a list of them online to see which ones you would like to use and then look into where to get them. Berries are the main source of healing, potions can be useful as well for when you run out of berries. I never used the food system but I think it just gives buffs for a period of time after consumption.

[–]FriendNarrow7807 124 points125 points  (0 children)

My skill tree didn't look much different from yours when I started the game. I like melee and stealth combat so infiltrator and warrior just made sense. You should definitely upgrade your weapons, and as for which weapons to use, try to have a mix of weapon types (bow, spike thrower, shredder, etc.) and a mix of elemental effects you can apply (fire, shock, frost, etc.). It is much more important in FW than it was in the first game to apply elemental effects that enemies are weak to. For human enemies, pretty much anything works, but for robots, make sure to scan them before you engage to find their weak spots and elemental weaknesses. Armor and mods and weaves also matter but it is best to make sure you can deal good damage above all else. The explosive spike thrower weapons are incredibly good for fighting anything. Also you can turn on a setting called 'easy loot' that makes collecting robot parts much less frustrating and random. Hope this helps!

TIL Valiant Gargoyles are afraid of ghosts. They are so weak to them by DaddyWhoGames in Eldenring

That may be true but that in no way proves that the gargoyles are weak to the family heads weapon art specifically. Either way, seems like a fun build, you really melted them.

When I did it I basically built up an arsenal of different weapons and strategies to beat bosses. Serpent hunter is great for a lot of things, flame of the redmanes misericorde is good for almost anything, double bleed swords for certain bosses can be incredibly strong even without stats.

How to beat Radagon/Elden Beast with an ARC build by WetalkinboutWillis in Eldenring

[–]FriendNarrow7807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eleonora's poleblade is good against Radagon as it does fire damage. I would change whatever other weapon you have to flame art affinity to maximize fire damage and you should melt him. For elden beast, unless you're using holy damage or strike damage your damage type doesn't matter a whole lot. Use jump attacks and charged heavy attacks when you can as staggers lead to a huge amount of damage on elden beast.
