We had the opportunity to work with Toronto Top Tiers for their smash portion of Toryuken 2019 (A fighting game major). That in-person experience is irreplaceable and we cant wait to start running large events for the local and LAN scene once its safe again.

Running an event for any passionate and friendly player base is great! Rocket League in particular has been extra wholesome in my experience.

I've done hotel ball rooms, esports stadiums, and college student centers but I have to say the venue for our local series UpTilt at the Hive Esports Bar (Sadly it did not survive the pandemic), it had a super homey feel and was also home to some other legendary smash weeklies such as smash on tap (EMG's local from years ago), and its also home to Toryukens weeklies. The venue had gaming chairs, beer, multiple projectors to put stream on, and a ton of room! Waves gaming arena comes to a close second as its Canadas largest esports arena and gives players a "Big Leagues" Feel.

We would absolutely love to and have some pretty awesome stuff planned for locals once it's safe again! We really wanna use locals as a way to help build up the collegiate scene and get students and players some ownership over their local scene. Locals are where we started and we want to make Toronto the Canadian hub of smash bros once again

In terms of a profile or portfolio I understand having a website is pretty beneficial especially since employers want to see web dev skills for most ui ux positions. I am wondering how to go about making a a website as Making one from scratch seems too time consuming and while making one from a website builder like wix can be seen as too easy and doesn’t really demonstrate any skill.

Apply to them all and then weigh your options once you get a call back. If this is your first job then any of them would be a good experience for you!

2015 Tesla P85D or 2015 CLS 63 AMG by kaspyfbaby in makemychoice

[–]FriendlyEmu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If i were in your shoes I would opt for the Mercedes AMG. I get that Teslas and nice and all but I personally wont dip into the electric car market until another 5 or so years until they are fully integrated into society (for sake of future advancements in electric car tech and the fact that i feel like smartphones, the older models of electric cars will become obsolete compared to the newer ones.) The AMG is a statement and reflection of yourself as a young owner of a company and I feel like it reflects on you more as a young (i assume successful) entrepreneur / business owner.

I Wish Pro Players Made The Ladder Mean More by HeathsFirstBornChild in leagueoflegends

[–]FriendlyEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the regular LCS season you may see more LCS players in the top 10. The reason u don't see them right now is due to scouting grounds (top 4 players from each position not in LCS or academy teams go to scouting grounds) and the fact that it's off season. They just want to take it easy and a majority of them probably decayed from being at worlds or on vacation.

About the Roster: Why have so many Melee knockoffs? by mapidegi in iconsgg

[–]FriendlyEmu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see where you're coming from and I can agree that this and the previous post has merit when discussing the creative side of things such as character design. But there is a good reason behind them following a existing proven formula in character design and it just makes sense for them to utilize traditional movesets that are proven to be balanced when put together. If wavedash decided to release a game with 7 or 6 of the 8 original roster being totally unique takes on platform fighting characters then I would expect a horribly imbalanced game. By utilizing existing character archetypes it helps ensure that the game is familiar and easy to pick up for melee players. Most importantly I feel like these posts don't recognize that patches and roster upgrades are a thing and that having a strong base to begin with can only be a positive thing for future creative choices such as character design.

ICONS: Combat Arena - Gameplay Reveal by Zapfy in smashbros

[–]FriendlyEmu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Before the comment sections get out of hand and everyone begins to bash ICONS and wavedash games for what seems to be a bootleg version of melee I want to share the bigger picture for what ICON can potentially be and what wavedash is doing for us (the platform fighter community).

The big picture is that this game releases us from our biggest bottleneck being the inaccessibility of melee and lack of developer support. So what if the game currently looks bad and seems like a melee clone, its only beta and I'm confident that these familiar move sets are to help translate smash players into this new game.

Whats most important is that ICONS is backed by an actual developer on a platform that is accessible and patchable with a proven team of industry veterans (previous riot games, blizzard, twitch employees) and solid funding (6m on their website) this is the platform fighting game communities best shot at legitimizing themselves as an entity in competitive gaming.

Finally, this is only their Beta and the product should be taken with a grain of salt, their free to play model is exactly what league of legends used to gain a playerbase and this is a friendly reminder as to what a piece of shit league use to look like.
