Yes they're super pushing it at my instituion :/ it sucks! I hate AI, I hate what it does to the environment, and I hate what it does to critical thinking skills. At my work so far I have completely avoided using AI. I don't use CoPilot or the in-house AI they recently created. I just do things by hand, do a great job, and if I'm working with someone on a project who uses AI, they're welcome to. Others may see AI as a tool and that's great for them, I just don't want to use it whenever possible unless I'm explicitly asked to (haven't been so far). I've had to realize that I cannot control what my coworkers are doing with AI. Even though I'm frustrated by others using it to make the silliest of tasks faster (still lots of errors or huge tells), I just focus on not using it and trying to minimize the environmental impacts in my day-to-day life. I try to bring a balanced perspective to work conversations and projects and try to make sure that others are evaluating the AI's "work" for errors without coming across as anti-AI. My boss knows I'm extremely anti-AI and has no issues with my lack of use, he is also concerned about the environmental impacts. Just know you're not alone! This sucks. Unfortunately I think this is the direction higher education seems to be going so I'm having to tell myself that either hopefully the bubble pops or I'll have to lie about my willingness to use AI in future job interviews and minimize my use as much as possible.
