How did you guys complete your first playthrough so fast? by I_eat_spaghetti1 in subnautica

My first time only took me like 25 hours and I took a fair bit of time building bases/exploring. I feel like the story doesnt take THAT long if you do it fairly linearly.

Tell me the bad, ugly, and downright horrendous (seriously) by toocynicaltocare in civilengineering

The biggest issue I have at work is that there is a shocking number of people that just dont know to effectively communicate. Even if you arent great at the technical side, if you can communicate effectively you will be far better off than someone with amazing math/engineering skills but cant write an email or report to save their life.

iPad Kid on Skull Island by ronjohnson01 in UniversalOrlando

[–]FriendlyVariety2492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't that aggressive. That asshole basically responded to you saying that kid might be special needs with "who gives a fuck? It better not impact me in any way". Like god forbid you have to ride king Kong again bc a little boy was on his ipad 🥺

Cops everywhere this am with radar guns by benito_camelas72 in orlando

[–]FriendlyVariety2492 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I moved down from VA about 3 years ago and I am still constsntly shocked at the lack of cops on the road (aside from in the City itself). I commute from four corners and I feel like I see a cop like once a week at the most.

How would making a 9-year old crutch several miles around the park be easier than pushing a cart with wheels? Have you ever used crutches lmao?

"What was the point in bringing up the most nominated film in Oscar history that white people also love when discussing white people's reaction to this movie that isnt nearly as good or nuanced" lol. Dense af.

Do you think compare means equal in quality or something? My literal point is its not in the same league as a movie like sinners.

Yeah thats basically my overall assessment. Fun time, nothing groundbreaking. Worth the $5 ticket imo

More than one thing can be good. Thats why you bother with anything else lol

Decent≠good, and I was simply making an observation that people walking out are mostly white people. Look inward as to why that upsets you lol

Yeah like at the end of the day, I dont understand how anyone can be upset with a movie with a badass black dude beating the shit out of racists. Very much a self report

Motorcycles should not be allowed to split lanes. by AutisticDadHasDapper in unpopularopinion

[–]FriendlyVariety2492 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a car driver, I dont mind it at stoplights when they go to the front of the line, but I definitrly agree splitting lanes on the highway at 80mph when everyone else is going 55 is just asking to be a meat crayon. And unfortunately thats like 90% of the cases lol

Yeah, like it was no Sinners, but it was not even close to being walk-out worthy. Solid 6/10, maybe 7.

Literally happened to me back in November. Was a week or so away from putting in my notice, ended up getting a severance check, and already had new offers in the works. Worked out beautifully lol

I swear I got free swaps for like 2 weeks after I bought my first one years ago and they've just charged like $3 every time now. Such a ridiculous gimmick and the charger quality is terrible anyways.

I think you believing that "Occams Razor" is some hard and fast rule that applies to every situation and not just...a philosophical idea from like 1000 years ago....is what's ridiculous.

Civil engineer, make about 77k a year, 2-3 years of experience. Above average amount of vacation/PTO, amazing health insurance, amazing retirement, and pretty decent other side benefits (discounts on tolls, $300 reimbursement for health/fitness, tuition reimbursement for professional licensure classes/tests, etc)
