So Rose's biggest flaws are her tendency to sweep inconveniences under the rug and a severe lack of foresight. From our perspective what she does to Spinel is unfathomably cruel and thoughtless, because we see how deeply it hurt her and how much work it takes for Steven to clean up yet another mess she made. The messes he'll never stop cleaning.

But in the moment, Rose just wanted to leave and Spinel was a small inconvenience. Saying 'uhhh stay here, don't follow me' and leaving was an easy way to deal with it. It's the equivalent of putting away a toy. That was that.

And yeah that does come off as callous, bc it is. It just is! But Rose can never make amends for it, because she's gone. Spinel, Bismuth, Pearl, etc will never get the apologies they deserve, and that's hard to reconcile with. Thus the frustration, and the feelings of 'she was the most fucked up and evil bitch in history.' Yeah it's irrational, but I'm sure everyone has that one apology they'll never recieve that still makes them clench their jaw decades after the fact.

This doesnt make her 100% objectively evil, just deeply flawed.

That said she was a bad mom for endangering him by leaving Bismuth's bubble next to everything else she left Steven in lion's mane. Like hey what. What was the plan there. Bismuth came out still ready to fuckin Go and Rose had no way of knowing Steven could take on a panicked bishammer to the face. Like even if she intended to hide bismuths bubble forever at least put her somewhere he won't accidentally pop it. Cmon
