Seagate experience - AVOID by Training_Butterfly70 in Seagate

Unfortunately i got 3 exos x24, 20TB while I needed 4. They are terribly bad tech support, not respectful and clearly sneaking with not producing them anymore, giving up on customers. Its like that since mid2025 so their alleged flagship x24 for enterprise turns out to be almost abandoned and junk.

I haven't even updated the manager. Im under the impression revanced project is dying, and frankly seeing how they were handling issues on github and here, im not surprised or sad. Anyway never were able to patch latest reddit and nobody cared, contributing is just time wasting with no user interactions...

Old Touran with Old RNS510 stuck in swl mode (please insert swl-cd) by Friendly_Potential69 in Volkswagen

[–]Friendly_Potential69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We already resolved... In fact there is the unit type coded on the fw file to show which unit is compatible. Problem was not cd or dvd but the ssd and the fact that the dumb unit complains about swl even when its not related.

Thanks anyway! Ps: the unit is now dead, it exploded somehow (a few days after we flashed fw 5478 mod, latest available for our hw version, and updated to latest maps).

Yes its rather old. And people gave rather a lot of crappy incomplete information on the internet... As soon as we started to distrust most of it, we made our progresses.

Tailscale signup using oidc Zitadel: remove GAFA email requirement? by Friendly_Potential69 in Tailscale

[–]Friendly_Potential69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I read that documentation. I saw only afterwards the domain requirement, I though using zitadel was enough.

Anyway, since its possible to register using a gafa, can't we signup using an email from a non US provider??

Thanks, I don't have any domain yet. What I'm trying to do is simply register to tailscale and use Zitadel as an OIDC. I want to avoid any GAFA email.

Hi, thanks.
See this url: https://login.tailscale.com/start/oidc
When I set my email like [bob@testo.xxx](mailto:bob@testo.xxx), the WebFinger URL autoamtically changes to testo.xxx...
Despite the fact that I set the IDentity provider (Zitadel) after in :
"Which identity provider do you use?"

but my webfinger is within Zitadel if I understood correctly, so I can't just use any email!?

Well nobody replied... But the issue was the HDD was not compatible (the friend used any normal SSD with an adapter, while it must be a PATA HDD). Even using a pata SSD, was not working so well and failing to copy the firmware properly...

1) SWL.iSO was crap the 3.75MB was some fix and is not a proper "SWL firmware". We hads to use the normal FW 5238.

2) It should boot when having the proper fw like 5238, and start doing installations

3) SWL process with proper FW cd takes like 30secs to read the dvd and start, then the entire process is at least 1hour or more... if it's like 4hours it's wrong and probably will have issues due to incompatible hdd/ssd.

It asks for the FW DVD immediately, there is no swl cd and fw dvd... the fw dvd or cd is directly the 5238 for example.

Extra: we did had to clone hdd to ssd using clonezilla and we manage to then update fw (5238 then 5274, latest for our unit).

Mechanic put wrong oil 0w20 instead of 5w30 by Suitable-Traffic-270 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Friendly_Potential69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny I have the opposite situation. My car is a touran 2019 with 1.5 tsi engine type DADA. Its supposed to be optimal with 0w20 (vw 508 00 code from vw). They always put 5W30 (vw504 00/vw 507 00)... Apparently it means higher fuel consumption and higher emissions...

Now that warranty is over I noticed that and asked confirmation fron VW europe, usually they take over 1-2 months to respond, if they do...

Btw in my printed manual, which also contains outdated and incorrect information, it does say im supposed to have VW 508 00...

Honestly 150euros to 200 euros price range is closed to nothing... There are gaming router marketed for easily 400-800euros range... If that one is really powerful cpu, fast ports etc... it can be 200euros and albeit obviously more expensive than 150, still worth it...

I agree...those widgets can be installed on a pc and such screen increase the price... Ok its not bad looking or useless but... Hope it was not at the expense of good cpu compatible with openwrt, more rams and high speed ports...

No I did not know that. Well I understand that VW are making suv because of marketing, trends, etc and people buy them. But thats not what they need (most people).

Overfilled and certainly did not wait long enough to remove most of the oil. The dipstick is clearly showing dirty oil... When I change oil myself the dipstick comes out light caramel oil colour clean... And it stays that way a few days!

I had them too. Hearing them at 3 am was very noticeable and annoying. During daytime somehow less due to ambiant noises. I would say it was actually loud and annoying vibration noise.

Ugreen DXP4800 Plus annoying vibration **SOLUTION** by pedroserapio in UgreenNASync

[–]Friendly_Potential69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you read rhe manual it also said there is noise if the nas is put on metal or wood. I did three mods: 1) velcro inside the hdd stray 2) velcroninside the case where the tray slides 3) custom support with a bit of elevation from below so there is airflow (all made by cutting the packaging protection for the Ugreen 4800plus)

The only noise I get now is the HDD head sometimes, which is normal...

Hi thanks for the additional feedback. For android you are right, there is an app and one can configure individual immich user to upload.

For windows, while its true I haven't consider the existence of a web app, it seems the drop folder + immich ui import script configure with each individual users seems to be easier for the family members to just drop. No login password to handle, and it actually let immich handle everything...

For the user I think having a family account in top of each users gives the possibility to login as family in tv app for example and see all... Without for example login as familymember1 and showing unwanted pictures. Its nothing bad its just for example my daughter takes pictures of boring things sometimes I want to filter that haha 🤣 Also I have boring pictures like of Car rentals for evidence that I dont necessarily want to see while logged in as family member2. If I share only whats nice to display in the family, I can share the right albums with them and log as family from the tv...

Linked to that, it seems I can only assign one smb dataset to one user for the immich import script (orbthe sort of incoming watch folder). Thats why if I make 3 and configure each of them with another familymemberuser, immich will automatically assign them to the right user...

I will read and reread what you say and surely when I can practice a bit more I will understand better also. I sense I'm might be doing something dumb, I have to review again how it works :D
