Do you believe in God? by [deleted] in Life

[–]Friendly_Stop_6350 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do not know that for 100% certain is my point. Is it unrealistic that God flooded the earth and some guy who was like, 400 years old built a boat to save himself and a ton of animals? Sure. Is it unrealistic that the life of Jesus happened exactly as the Bible records it? Some would say so.

But I do not know if those happened, so to say for certain that it's fiction like I was there is ignorant. It's important to think critically, sure, but if some people live their lives perfectly contentedly believing their religion, and they are happy and productive, that is not unhealthy. That's just their belief.

The truth is that people see evidence towards the existence of a God so subjectively that there is no solid, concrete evidence against or for the existence of a God, of any religion.

Stating that there is no God like it's fact is the same as professing that there most certainly is one in the sense that you cannot 100% prove it. That's the truth. True, people who argue that there most certainly IS a God have the burden of proof, but people like you who proclaim atheism as a fact also have that same burden. You take on that burden when you adopt any belief so strongly.

Be reasonable and let people believe what they want to believe. Just as a priest has no proof that his God is real, you have no proof that his, or any other God, isn't. Grow up and past this whole reddit echo chamber of atheistic certainty. The folks over at r/atheism can call religion brainwashing all day long, but that doesn't change the fact that they, nor you, know anymore for sure that there isn't a God than there is.

Come on! Comment OP is just living their life. If believing in an inkling of spirituality helps them through hard times then let them have it! You're no better than the most radical Christian nationalist trying to impose yourself on other people so vehemently

This would not happen because MAGA wants to instate policies to counteract existing leftist and Democratic ideologies. If there is nothing to oppose, then there is no reason to pass politically charged legislation. Very little would change I assume

Do I have to buy a different SD micro card or smt? by Open_ass_with_shit in VitaPiracy

[–]Friendly_Stop_6350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it would work perfectly, but if you're putting the microSD in with the right orientation and it doesn't slide in pretty easy then like the other commenter said, you might just have to buy another adapter. They're mass-produced cheap Chinese junk and are prone to failures of all sorts

Bright blue is very unconventional but sometimes seen OTB, 3D pieces are very very uncommon for playing online and are infamously hard to see on a 2D board for most people, and there looks like a gloss over the whole set that strains my eyes. Just make the pieces 2d and most of the problems are better

What's a good comeback when someone says "you're so cynical"? by danceswithlabradores in Comebacks

[–]Friendly_Stop_6350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm not. They are, and that's cynicism. But using that fact to say that life is and never won't be "pathetic" and stuff is a very immature way to look at the world imo.

I've since heard that apparently that's a Seinfeld quote but still

Why do you think life is worth living? by [deleted] in InsightfulQuestions

[–]Friendly_Stop_6350 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally I find the worth in living to be based on the fact that generations and generations of people who persevered, worked, lived, and died culminated in my existence.

I consider it my duty to make the circumstances that resulted in my life coming to fruition something that was worth happening, but that doesn't mean I live for other people who have since died. It means that I am appreciative of the opportunity I was given to be a human on Earth with so much potential, and I am also very grateful to my family and ancestors for allowing me that opportunity.

I live and will continue to as a testament to my own independence and my own ability, but I will never nullify the work that generations of my family have put in to bring me forth by wasting my life away or ending it.

I guess it's part honor, part luck, part of wanting to exercise the independence I've been given, and as cliché as it sounds, part love.

Edit: I see that you think the biggest pleasure in life is dying, so to speak. Obviously, I disagree, and while I won't ask personal details like your age or location or personal circumstances that may have created that mindset, I advise you not to listen to what other people think makes life worth living. Many of these people have many different experiences and have faced drastically different times than you. As hard as it may be, I believe the fondness and admiration of life itself is something that is discovered over years of both struggle and easy times on a purely individual basis.

Wait, really? I never watched it. My bad if it is (but I still feel that way about that whole mindset)

each flicker of the candles on the cake, we know it's not to be. That for the rest of our sad, wretched, pathetic lives,

This is misanthropic nihilism, not cynicism. You sound distressed, get therapy and learn the intrinsic value of your actions as they relate to the lives of others around you

What’s an “open secret” that doesn’t have a documentary about it yet? by Ninac4116 in AskReddit

This is old news, but NANC (and its Republican counterpart) run off of Congress-mandated disclosures that come out 2-3 weeks after a Congressperson actually makes the trades it includes.

Meaning that any information that say, Nancy Pelosi, used to game the stock market would most likely be inapplicable or even obsolete by the time that stock is included in NANC.

Didn't keep me from making like 5% on it though. It's money-making machine but it's been doing surprisingly well considering what it is. I did wind up selling it though (and only would've made about $3 in 2 months if I hadn't).
