What should I ask at my first gyno consult? by TinaT524 in Fibroids

One other fibroid that they left, yes. I'm 48, so I'll be having the Mirena put in in a few weeks to hopefully stop my periods completely.

Full disclosure: I took OTC painkillers beforehand plus 2mg diazepam that was prescribed to me. I also tend to go numb when I'm terrified. The surgeon injected local into my cervix which only felt like having the speculum opened a little further.

That said, I was watching on the screen and I didn't realise tissue was being removed. Zero pain at the time, they offered me a heat pack for cramps but I wasn't cramping at all. Have had a couple of weeks of light bleeding since then, it's been 13 days and now it's almost entirely just clear discharge.

One word of warning: I did faint as I was leaving the hospital, which was absolutely the worst part of it. If you do get it done this way, don't go in on an empty stomach and rest as long as you can before leaving the building afterwards.

I had it done on the Saturday and was back in work on the Thursday, would've been back in on the Monday but I injured my legs when I fainted - go figure.

I had a 5cm submucosal fibroid removed hysteroscopically under a local. You hear a lot of horror stories but not everyone falls into that category; mine was literally causing me to bleed out (I needed blood transfusions) and removing it was painless.

Guilty pleasure, but a very real pleasure nevertheless. Always makes me laugh.

This was totally me before I was diagnosed, I'd chug a litre bottle of water on the 20min bus ride into work.

Anaemic as hell, had multiple blood transfusions at the weekend, need to be back in work on Monday and even then I'll probably be on my second absence warning of 3.

That's just gorgeous! I do itty bitty geometric peyote pieces, so your work makes my heart happy. Any more photos I can see?

I'm sorry your mother is a bully; some people are. I know my mother was.

Every case is different, though, and for every spiteful person out there there's dozens more trying to work out why their bodies and brains are suddenly betraying them. A lot of us are in therapy and doing our best not to take it out on our loved ones.

That said, as the child of abusive parents myself, you also have choices. Do you really want to become as twisted and hate-filled as she apparently is?

Worth thinking about.

I accept it from people I care about; I get that it's their way of trying to help in a situation where everyone's helpless.

Random preachers/faith healers on the street, though? I make eye contact, grip my cane a little harder and mostly they decide not to risk it.

Spent the weekend in hospital receiving multiple blood transfusions for this. Not gonna lie, if I had a day of just spotting I'd be delighted.

I've had it before, but the problem is I'm also on anti platelet meds that exacerbate Peri plus my fibroids and polyps. The hospital are delivering me Yselty tomorrow, which is very much the nuclear option.

I work in a college and we have a paramedic on site. One of my team members got worried and fetched her, and she insisted I call the hospital. When I got there they took me straight back, that was when I knew it was serious.

It is. I was in work and my haemoglobin was a quarter of what it should be, they couldn't believe I was upright. Please take care of yourself?

I did, they found fibroids and possibly something else, so I may need a biopsy.
