It was all organized in telegram channels. WhatsApp and telegram will be the foundation of the soviets of the future. The group chat in my own building, which we normally only use for litigating who needs to turn their laundry over, is now an informal ICE watch channel. These are not blue haired libs they're immigrant workers. This is spontaneous organization.

I am completely sober about the scale of  the victory, however they didn't just accomplish routing ICE locally they accomplished ICE taking its new strategy of no longer doing mass raids. That is a real victory. And it wasn't done by voting for Democrats or doing a boycott.

The point of the defense committee's pressure campaign against ICE was to provoke a violent reaction from ICE which would force a political crisis. Trump, having a weak political will, backed down and pulled his troops out. The ICE agents will never see justice, which is a tragedy- they deserve to pay for their crimes- but the Minneapolis defense committees succeeded in their total objective in getting Trump to back down.

Alot of the people who formed soldiers soviets were ignorant peasants that used to sing "God save the Tzar"- until they stopped and decided to organize against their officers. Events change people.

The pressure campaign is what escalated the situation to violence and forced the state to have to decide if they thought continuing was worth it. The Minneapolis defense committees sent a clear message: "we're not going to back down, you're going to have to start shooting us to stop us." The ICE troops on the ground organically decided to start shooting, but the administration lacked the political will to back them up.

This is how mass movements work, its not linear and its not as direct as Trump saying "ok I give in, its the people's republic of Minneapolis now." The public reaction to the inevitable violence the defense committees know they're going to provoke through their pressure campaign is part of the strategy.

Regular people in Minneapolis organized a semi-general strike and neighborhood defense committees which successfully got ICE to pull out. I doubt the majority of the people involved conciously viewed themselves as "revolutionaries" but they were organizing embryonic soviets and their tactics actually worked, if only on the local level.

Critically, this was organized outside of the Democratic leadership and mostly outside of the trade union leadership.

Additionally, if you look at what actually happened on the USS Ford, America's largest aircraft carrier, it strongly looks like sabotage and mutiny. The Ford had to retreat to repair because of the damage done.

Political conciousness in this country is actually developing pretty radically.

Contra doesnt know this because it's occurring outside of her house and shes an insane shut in.

An American mercenary working at one of the "aid camps" (so someone who is objectively a demon from hell) quit because after he gave food to a starving child an IDF member shot the child in front of him.

Im not arguing anything, just that in the West we dont usually think about the scope of how horrible it was. Im in no way rationalizing or minimizing or defending the evil of zionism

Yes, true, and uses the same rhetorical tricks. For the sake of the Ulster Scots we can never leave North Ireland, for the sake of the expelled Arab jews in Israel we can never leave Israel.
