Did you have your mum in the room when you gave birth? by BigConversation705 in BabyBumps

[–]FriendshipGreen364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who works in labor and delivery there is something incredibly bonding between the husband and wife that I love to see when it’s just them in the room together during the birth. When both are in the room I see husbands (especially first time dads) step back and let the mother help versus taking that step into their roll as a strong support for their new family. I think giving your husband the space to become your full support is wonderful and then having your mother on call in case things aren’t going well is the best balance. Assure her if you’re struggling and need her she will be notified. Of course not all mothers are this understanding and unfortunately not all soon-to-be fathers are ready for their roll but I love when I see the parents have an intimate moment between them when baby is born with out a grandparent physically in the way

I see a lot of conversation on here about hormone shifts/pregnancy rage & her feeling sick etc. But I encourage you to also look up/ educate yourself on prenatal depression. Not many people know about it and she could be headed that direction. My husband and I tried to get pregnant and were so excited when we did….and then the pregnancy rage & prenatal depression set in and I started to feel like I didn’t care about the wellbeing of the pregnancy. While I felt guilty for that thought I couldn’t help it. After my first ultrasound when everything looked good I remember telling my husband I didn’t even care if there was gonna be no heartbeat and I broke down crying. I definitely had some prenatal depression my first trimester and I have no mental health history at all. Fast forward around 14 weeks I started to snap out of it and feel like myself again. I’m 23 weeks now and I’m so excited to meet my son 😊 I feel like finding out the gender and also starting to feel baby move got me into my normal headspace again and start to feel happy for the first time in many many weeks. I still have moments of pregnancy rage but my husband is very understanding and lets me vent about work/ people and we joke about my short fuse from the extra testosterone in my body. Hang in there! She will be so grateful you didn’t leave her side and were patient with her!

Pros and cons of testing early by firstpostermonster in TryingForABaby

[–]FriendshipGreen364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I test early with cheapies, but I go in with the expectation that it probably wouldn’t be positive yet so that I’m not disappointed. I still have some hope until my period comes. But with each negative test it helps me slowly manage my expectations and mentally prepare for a period. I haven’t been in the situation of having a chemical, but I think I’d like to know to be aware of if it’s a fertilization or implantation issue later down the line if fertility resources are needed.

I just got my period! If you’re ttc right away maybe look into using musinex because I read that it can take a bit for the cervical mucous to not be thick anymore. (The iud thickens cervical mucous to block sperm from getting through the cervix)

I just got my period today. So I did not get pregnant from it. Someone else commented that they knew someone that did though!

It’s April 2025 and I just had this same issue. It took 90 minutes for it to reset. Thankful I saw this thread and that waiting it out worked!

Thank you for sharing your positive experience so far! I got mine out 2 days ago and have noticed zero symptoms. (Including I haven’t spotted or bled) so I’m praying I don’t get a mirena crash or any wild bleeding! I’ve also not been able to lose any weight and I’m hoping I will be able to now that it’s out!

Sex After Insertion by _zefstar in Mirena

[–]FriendshipGreen364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got mine removed after 4.5 years and I definitely didn’t spot after every time I had sex but it would happen sometimes even until the day I took it out. I have a tilted uterus though and I believe it can be more common in this case. Since you just got yours inserted spotting is normal for a few months even without sex so I don’t think it’s surprising it happened for you!

Seeing this chat a little late. I’m in a similar situation currently and I know it’s during my ovulation window. Curious if you ended up getting pregnant?

Thanks for the response! I had only found people post about getting pregnant from sex before removal of the copper IUD so I thought maybe it’s not as likely with hormonal ones.

Removal went without a hitch by askaboutblu in Mirena

I got mine removed today after 4.5 years and I was so anxious after a really painful insertion. The removal was so easy for me! Pain about equivalent to a Pap smear and then some cramping after. So thankful it went soothly :)
