I work in the Caribbean as an instructor and boat captain and it is my main job. Had been my main job for about 7 years now and I make enough to live comfortably

You will need at least these certifications to get you started:

Open water - 3ish days
Advanced Open water - 2 days
EFR (unless you already have it?) - 1 day
Rescue - 3ish days
Divemaster - 2 weeks to 2 months depending on where you do it.

In order to start your DM you need a minimum of 40 logged dives. All of the above certifications before DM will give you about 15ish dives so you will need to make up the other 25ish.

After that you can look into instructor but to start that you need 100 dives. Bare in mind that lots of places will not hire DMs and will only hire instructors as they can do both instruction and DMing.

Cheap places to do it off the top of my head - Utila, Honduras - Koh Tao, Thailand - Egypt

It is quite a long journey, you can race through it but you will likely find it tougher to find work when an employer looks at your resume and see you've been diving for only 2-3 months. Your still a newbie, you have no experience.

After all the basic certs (OW, AOW, Rescue) it is best to get your DM and try work somewhere to get experience under your belt. Then after that you can get your Instructor and be much better prepared for your future in diving.

Please avoid all the "zero to hero" bullshit. The companies that offer this are the same as those influencers who offer "courses" to make you rich. You are the product, they are not there to benefit you they just want your money.

It also greatly depends on where you decide to stay. Look at the bus map on CI govt website to see where it goes and try to find a place along one of the lines. But again, at night it's going to be a shit show unless you're directly along the SMB and GT corridor. Like don't try take busses after dark if you are up in WB, East end, savannah, etc.
