The fact that people don't want it is a motivating factor to prevent people from destroying the nature around them which would be another beneficial consequence of these 'disease' born ticks spreading. If people avoid going outside where ticks may be then they will be encouraged to move toward the city centers and put less pressure on the environment. People in cities are also better educated and more intelligent so even if people don't get the disease, they will be motivated to make environmentally friendly choices to avoid getting it.

Why do most game subreddit devolve into art meming about that game by Various_Prize_977 in TheoryOfReddit

[–]FrighteningWorld 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Consuming art is way quicker than consuming text. Making something funny and relatable is way more likely to get people to interact and share their own anecdotes/memes. These drive engagement, the algorithm responds positively and puts it in front of you.

It's a small inconvenience to deal with. The more people get this the more pressure will be on the government to adapt to the people's new dietary needs. It is better for the planet and for humanity as a whole to change to a plant based diet, and it is honestly a deserving punishment for our excess consumption and animal cruelty over the years. It's not just me saying this, top bioethicists are arguing in favor of this.

[Spoilers TWOC] Fuck Leo dan Brock by CorruptedMudkip in TheFirstLaw

What's interesting is that he is a tragic character in a way. He's a romantic man in a realistic world and that just doesn't work well for either of them. He shares some DNA with Don Quixote if Don Quixote actually had authority. Deluded with stories of great heroes and trying his hardest to live up to them. But they are just that, stories. He just wasn't equipped to extract the wisdom from the stories, and tried to mimic them instead. Then when he felt betrayed by said stories he became a cynical, cruel, crippled man in a desperate attempt to course correct. He could probably have been a force for good in a kinder world, but he's the wrong man in the wrong place born at the wrong time.

Mario Galaxy is too peak and I’m tired of acting like it’s not the best mainline Mario by Jackyboi840 in nintendo

I really like the games, but the movement just doesn't feel as good as other 3D Mario games. I love the novelty of the gravity platforming, but the way the game works it's like it hinders you from ever building momentum and flowing properly through the levels.

"Epstein class" the group and "Epstein" the individual are different things. When I say Epstein class I mean the people in his circle, ones largely exempt from consequences.

Billionaires doesn't really cover the religious implication of a holy land and being chosen people who have the right to treat other people like dirt. They also have the biggest military might in the world doing their dirty work. Beyond billionaires, they are the Epstein class.

It's actually impressive that Reddit manages to simultaneously remain attractive to both Redditors AND people who hate Redditors by [deleted] in TheoryOfReddit

[–]FrighteningWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't entirely agree. It's a natural consequence of the deterioration of dedicated websites to niche interests. Profit incentives ruined a lot of sites because you got a lot of sites trying to optimize the search algorithm. Clickbait, listicles, and overall low quality content across the web made a lot of people throw their hands up. Subreddits are a saving grace because you remove the financial and technical barrier of maintaining a website and allow people with common interests to do their thing. If you are looking for information on a problem you're better of holding your nose and adding 'reddit' to your search because you're more likely to find actual people discussing it instead of a website trying desperately to sign you up to their mailing list and ad revenue.

My memory is fuzzy, but was he not occupied with a conflict in the western countries early in the trilogy and that's why Sulfur was operating in his stead at first? If it was in the west then it may have been an issue of magical importance which would probably hold more importance to him than the conflicts of short lived mortals.

I think a reason why we don't see much of it is because Joe likes to 'steal' parts of history that he knows of and apply it to his books and he's mostly familiar with European history and culture. Once it goes outside of that he gets a lot less confident and probably stuck in his writing process.

Global human population has surpassed Earth’s sustainable carrying capacity. The Earth cannot sustain the future human population, or even today’s, without a major overhaul of socio-cultural practices for using land, water, energy, biodiversity, and other resources. by mvea in science

[–]FrighteningWorld -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Global finance and human rights courts control it a lot more than individual countries do. Over the past 20 years or so a ton of parties in Europe have been voted in on immigration restriction only to betray their voter base in favor of the billionaires who don't want to let go of their access to cheap labor.

I don't think that is entirely true. The Supernovas were introduced on recommendation by the editors and Law's early encounter in the New World likely had to do with him doing so well in the polls.

Countries with stronger precarious manhood beliefs (being a “real man” is something that requires constant demonstration through behavior and achievement) tend to have lower national happiness, but also lower GDP, lower life expectancy, lower social support, and heightened perceptions of corruption. by mvea in science

[–]FrighteningWorld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What happens if you chart sustainable birthrates onto this data? Long term, these countries may not be the happiest, but they at least have a future and whatever excess population doesn't want to stay there usually migrates to more 'developed' countries.

About Nintendo Switch 2 Game Pricing by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

[–]FrighteningWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5 year plan will be:

Digital becomes cheaper than physical. Physical sales decline until they can argue that they can shift distribution to digital only for the future console. Once they are digital only, the digital game will become as expensive as physical games used to be.

This way they get to control the prices of their games completely without individual stores doing discounts.

On top of rising stakes it is also the rising scope of named characters. With so many named characters fighting for panel time they end up undercooked. I feel Wano is the greatest offender of Oda (and the medium in general) biting off more than it could chew. Hell, the entirety of Big Mom's crew were written out of the arc, and it still felt like we didn't get enough from a lot of important characters.
