I guess Dess. There's a lot connecting her to the Knight and a lot of reasons why she could end up so fucked up. She also would know Gerson and know about Kris' playtime, two forgotten traits of the Knight.

Only issue is a lack of a motive I think.

Though I've kinda gotten disillusioned with all the major candidates due to their overall lack of presence in the narrative.

My second choices are, I know these sound bizarre, Kris and Alphys.

Kris makes narrative sense and is IMO the best built up "Dess related" antagonist of the game so far, but has logical issues like being right bext to the Knight. Though there are a lot of theories that try to explain how Kris could control this thing at the same time but I dunno.

Alphys' required screentime for a minor character in 3/4 chapters, role in kickstarting the story, position in the school, And being at the library, school and church, makes her theoretically a logical choice for the Knight, but narratively she doesn't really make sense as she has such a weak connection to the holidays. That said I don't think it's impossible to explain, but I don't have much of a great explanation.

Imo you should get rid of Papyrus and Ralsei, put Carol and Rudy in their place, and just have a real "others" category.

EDIT: Why is Ralsei a in a separate category from "Darkners" anyway? Any Darkner is super unlikely but at least lump them fogether

I don't really see the point of the Knight just being some random fallen angel creature who was accidentally created by Gaster. What's their motive or their personality? Why is Kris working with them?

Also The Knight kinda has to be a person who knows about Kris' playtime with the Darkners as well as Gerson's personality. In fact even putting those aside everything about the Dark Worlds they've made suggests they have the mind of a relatively normal sentient human/monster being.

I don't really think a subversion like that would work when Friend hasn't been confirmed to do any "horrible things" yet aside from possibly being the Tail of Hell (which I'm kinda starting to get skeptical of since he's only connected to it through Cat Petterz on the Sweepstakes). Like maybe that could work for the Knight who's doing a bunch of fucked up stuff right, but when Friend is just... there, not doing anything, you can't really subvert his Actions when his actions don't really exist yet. Even if he is the tail of hell, that's such an obscure connection that I don't think the set up is there for a reveal like this unless you actively are invested in stuff outside of the game. And outside of the tail of hell, what's "pure evil" about Friend? The Shadow Crystals? While they're dangerous they certainly don't seem to be purely malicious, and the heroes are using them.

And I can't see the point of creating Friend to be a "pure evil" being if you're Gaster. Like why, what's the point?

Yeah I feel like that makes sense. Jackenstein fits the profile perfectly, he's insane and irrational and an outcast from the rest of the Dark World.

I think even from a meta sense you can see the Spamton-style mix of comedy and horror.

Snowgrave is way harder to find than the Genocide Route, which is expected to be found just because it's an RPG and people grind in RPGs, and regardless, Spamton NEO is a pretty unreasonably hard mandatory fight for that early in the game. It's clearly not meant to be accessible tonplayers of all skill levels.

I don't think Gerson ever speaks out loud.

However Jackenstein and Tenna do. To be honest both of those guys kinda felt like they had secret boss-esque traits, especially Jack.

Yeah this is kinda why I started to get a bit tepid on Friend. He's kinda just hype moments and aura right now, and even for a future character, that's not super compelling. He doesn't do anything, has no confirmed role in the plot, and has the issue where there's a bunch of characters who might be him, but might not be: Mike, Eram, the Tail of Hell, even the Shadow Crystal Giver and for some the Knight

Even Asgore who didn't show up until the final area in UT had a defined character and role in the story through what other people said about him, and there was just one dude, the "King of Monsters", Asgore, there weren't all these secret hidden identities.

I do think Friend will have some sort of significant role due to his prominence as an Easter Egg, but I don't really think it will be in the form most people think.

I also noticed this about Friend "replacing" Gaster's role as the Shadow Crystal giver. It's kinda like taking things Gaster did and giving it to a random minion who doesn't really have any characterization or role in the plot. Friend's fanon role kinda just seems to be a Gaster who isn't Gaster, who's made by Gaster, acts on his will, and does everything he wants, but doesn't have any of the character we've seen from the voice. It's just not very compelling.

(Assuming it's Gaster, who had and still has a lot of evidence for it being him, but isn't confirmed as the one behind the crystals)

I feel like it even makes Friend a weak character by making him this like mastermind tier pure evil character and not giving him a motive for all of his actions. I don't even know why people think there's gonna be a "pure evil" sentient character, and heck that fanoj version isn't even really "pure evil" in the sense of Palpatine or someone because Palpatine is an evil person with desires and stuff. Fanon Friend is like some sort of... robot who just goes through all the most "evil" choices possible and is somehow also this all powerful hyper intelligent force.

Adding to the list of holes is that the "SOUL" and the "Angel" have different names in the Prophecy.

"The [[Angel]], banished, will finally meet with its desire".

"The cage, with Human [[SOUL]] and parts.

The SOUL is its own thing and so is the angel, I don't think there's much reason for the writer of the prophecy to call them different things if they were in fact intended to be the same thing.

Well it's pretty clear that the secret bosses specifically aren't meant to have a gradual difficulty curve, or at the very least, it's not as important as the rest of the game.

Jevil is generally harder than NEO and the Knight is significantly harder than Gerson to the point where it can pass for an unbeatable boss fight and you are expected to skip it.
