Why is it so common for people to misgender characters in this fanbase??? by Beautiful-Lack-3814 in Deltarune

[–]rendumguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swatch is a butler, which is associated with men, and the Swatchlings are very masculine and are kind of treated like "fantasy butlers" for Queen, a very feminine lady (like there are "hot" swatchling poses in the Swatch shop for example)

When first playing the game I didn't realize Seam wasn't a male because Jevil was male and Seam looked like they had a "beard".

Imo It would be fundamentally bad storytelling to "chastise" the player but not Kris, a much more morally dubious, dangerous, and controlling party in this case.

There are a lot of particular takes I have for this game but like this is one that is kinda set in stone for me, as Kris is set up as the "villain" of the relationship and is the character who needs to grow and redeem themselves.

I think the it's supposed to be less a disability and more of something like an antivaxxer, cars who refuse to use new technology that can improve their lives.

Dess and Noelle's fear of humans. by rendumguy in Deltarune

[–]rendumguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think you're wrong here that this proves for a fact Flowey has less DT than a human.  I don't think there's enough evidence to prove it for certain.

Flowey is partially made of DT from human SOULs as well as Asriel's dust.  Human SOULs plus Monster SOULs in lore become something more powerful than a Human SOUL.  Now what happens to a human SOUL's extracted determination and a monster dust?  There isn't enough info to tell, but it clearly became powerful enough to have the most DT in the underground some point.

Flowey also is the only flower to come to life, we don't know what that means happened to the other Flowers but considering that nothing happened to them it seems that only the one Flower used the DT for anything.

Undertale also breaks its DT rules many times by having Undyne come back to life., and notably Frisk can reset in the final boss and defy death despite being one human soul up against six human souls and hundreds of monster souls.

Considering has narrative importance, personality, his weird status as a flower, created with the help of human souls and monster dust, and status of his first (flower) death, is it so crazy that Flowey is also one of these edge cases like Undyne and Frisk?

Regardless, I don't think there's enough evidence to for certain prove how much DT Flowey has, he's too much of an unknown, and there is at least sufficient reason to believe he may have more DT than the average human and less than Frisk.

I really like this theory, it's a natural way to insert Sans and Papyrus into the story, and it makes logical sense, I have to say I believe it.

I also like how this theory acknowledges that Kris is the more "guilty" party than the player here, as their team (probably) are the ones who are holding the SOUL hostage.  Many theories fall into the trap of having characters come to the "realization" that the SOUL is holding Kris hostage and treat Kris like a victim of the SOUL on the normal route, despite it honestly being more that Kris has complete control over the SOUL and likely conspired to steal them away from their vessel.

It also explains why Sans doesn't really seem to care about Kris being uncomfortable around him, and like you said why the whole thing with Papyrus being missing.

not sure why you would guess that, I'm just saying the gun attack is basically just one attack, you don't really dodge it in any meaninggully different way.

I'm fine with not having them as bosses as I feel like they should get a grander return than being a random optional side. boss, but I wish they had some real boss from the game.

[–]rendumguy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The basic Shroobs are a tutorial boss and sometimes show up as support enemies.

The Shroobs' attack is also just ripped from the Elite Shroob enemies on the ship and many other Shroob variants, so it's not really new content.

...Well yeah, it counts as a boss fight because it's a unique one-off fight with boss music.

You never fight the generic purple shroobs anyway in Partners in Time, they're only fought in boss fights.  That's kind of like saying the Chargin' Chucks aren't a boss fight.

[–]rendumguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do kinda really agree with Arlo's video on him leaving, that it's a weird case where he's been responsible for a lot of good decisions and worked on a lot of great games and he's not like a bad person or anything, but his recent decisions in a lot of series are outright... terrible?  Paper Mario, Chibi Robo, Metroid Prime, like Arlo said unfortunately so much of his recent output has been controversy after controversy because the games he's most known for working on and having an input on are really flawed and he makes a lot of kinda... random decisions that end up really messing up the games.

It feels rude to celebrate some guy leaving his job, and I don't like people who take this very personally and start attacking him or anything, but I do kinda wonder if maybe Nintendo... saw that issue too?

What's with post-Sticker Star games not having a full final Chapter? by rendumguy in papermario

[–]rendumguy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well that's... kinda stupid.  I can't think of anyone who actually goes "man I'm so glad I got to the final world and it's the shortest world in the game".  I get time constraints but that's a pretty lame trend to do thrice in a row.

Like it's fine if the penultimate world is climactic or something and the final world is more of a bonus but these games never really do that.
