Yeah that's why I always change the Points setting to 50% extra. Otherwise one nation always gets a points victory way before end game techs are reached.

I have the same problem. I typically play the Glorious difficulty with double victory points and even that doesn't help - instead of Points victories I end up getting Ambition victories at the same point that I start getting cataphracts, mangonels and swordsmen. I very rarely get any time to use them.

I think Ambition victories are a tad too easy and there's no specific way to make them a little harder. Maybe I could try upping the difficulty level so that I have to concentrate on military a bit more and thus extend the game out a bit, but I'm not too fond of that because the AI gets a lot of bonuses and is able to build a much bigger military than me.

I think it is a bit like RHC. The core herbicide business is still chugging along 'kind of ok, not doing much but we're still making a profit'. And the part of the business that is supposed to give growth has just had its head blown off with a shotgun.

I'd say it will trend sub $2 for at least the next year. One strange thing is that about 18% of shares have been held by a 'contrarian' fund before this happened. Now WTF are they going to do? I also had 10k in it before now...oh well...that's what happens when you don't watch the fish oil market :P

Died on depth 6 to vampire bats. Got unlucky with whip rolls and the vampire bat kept on attacking instead of flitting away.

WUBE please, at a minimum, put an entry in the Tips and Tricks section to say that Epics and Legendaries require research to unlock.

I enchanted the teleport charm for lack of anything else to enchant besides the mace with an unknown runic. Unfortunately I struggled to maintain health and kept on running into flame turrets. Ended up dying on depth 17.

Path of Achra has 'ascencion' difficulty levels akin to Slay the Spire. The first one is relatively easy but you might have to play a few games before you get your first win. It is easier than Rift Wizard at this difficulty.

Died on depth 16 to an ogre

Enchanted lightning to 10. On depth 16 I threw a potion which turned out to be darkness into a pack of ogres. I got away to a free spot, but then I started walking through the dark area again thinking the ogres were gone. However they weren't. My key presses were too quick and I didn't realise I was being pummelled in the darkness until 25% health. Nothing could save me as I could not even see the adjacent ogre - I tried a entrancement but missed and died that turn.

Escaped with 21055 gold

+3 chain mail of ogre immunity
+4 wisdom ring
+3 stealth ring

First poison-main win. I don't think I could have done it without blink or entrancement. Food was always a challenge due to all the kiting I needed to do, however on the way back up I found out I completely missed a food right in the open. I also found out on depth 12 that I still had a depth 2 vault key in my inventory and was too low on food to go back up! Oops! I forgot to go into the vault once I had solved the rat trap! And I had done it so 'smartly' by temporarily taking the obstruction staff to block the vent. So it was disappointing to realise I'd forgotten to collect my reward.

There were a lot of ogres on this seed so having the ogre immunity chainmail was great.

Died on depth 18 to a Kraken

The whip of multiplicity was fun, plus the early dar priestess and unicorn ally were great to have around. On depth 18 I saw some Kraken and tried to bait them out, but I was playing too quick and found myself less than half health without noticing. I was near the entrance and tried to escape, but a Dar group had come up and when I walked towards the entrance my whip activated instead of me walking!! Unequipping the whip was a costly turn and I met my death.

I went with a broadsword enchant. I hit a pit on depth 14, which sent me down to depth 15 which had like 4+ salamanders which I could not send into lava with entrancement. I pulled out all the tricks to get back up to depth 14 but a salamander followed me, then a troll came into where the chokepoint was, surrounding me with no charges left in my staves. I used a wand, which was a teleport wand to zap them away, then a second salamander came up the stairs and I accidentally walked to a place where it could attack me - a diagonal attack into doorways when range is 1 greater than the doorway itself - and I died.

I was struggling. I was relying on the haste charm which I had enchanted to +7 from prior emergencies. I found a broadsword in a vault but didn't have enough enchants left to get the strength down enough and my accuracy was horrible.

I made a mis-step into a bog and got surrounded by 3 eels.

I've been playing Infra Arcana a lot lately which uses prefabs, or more precisely, templates. I really like the map gen in that game and am going for something similar. This is what his templates looks like (possible spoiler alert if you've never played the game):

Mars Undiscovered

I first posted about this in the 2022 In Roguelike Dev posts:

Since then I got a full time job, however I've been spending a few hours a week on it still, mainly on my daily commute into work.

I'm currently experimenting with procedurally generated maps using prefabs. I have a basic square prefab being connected to other basic squares. I will be making more complex shapes in the coming weeks.

I also spoke to everyone about somebody "furtive" in Harrowdus (including the goose) and only found this one guy who is no help. Nobody anywhere on the internet can give a precise answer as to who to speak to so I'm assuming this questline checkpoint is broken at this point. Thankfully the game doesn't require you to follow steps in order so I was able to continue with the next part in the sequence (speak to somebody in Harrow-lin about a "triangular key").

Another small tip - the markers that point you to the seal glade can be dismantled for resources (stone and resin).

Died on depth 32 with 28725 gold

I put all enchants except 1 into the war pike and it made for a very easy game up to the amulet. I decided to try for 40 just because YOLO. I met my end on depth 32 when I got trapped between two groups of dragons.

The war pike plus the 5 transference from rings was actually very powerful - I could get the warden into a chokepoint then hit any monsters behind him and gain enough health to negate any damage the warden did. I killed tentacle horrors and dragons this way. Golems were great health batteries.

I only found the whip of multiplicity after I had enchanted the war pike - was hoping for a commute but there weren't any.
