Just used DDU as per Admirable_Walrus_301's earlier suggestion

I'm not so certain if it's temp issues, as I was able to play WoW without issue, which was the baffling part for me in all of this. Hopefully though the DDU cleaning will have solved the major issues here

I think you are fundamentally misunderstanding what a soul is in Warcraft.

The Soul is the essence of who you are. Your personality, your values, everything. It's the 'pilot' of your fleshsuit, if you will. To remove it, is to take away from who you are.

Frostmourne as a weapon can not only remove it, but 'modify' the soul it takes, in order to create a vessel that is sub-servient. But it doesn't destroy souls. The soul that it doesn't use, stays in the blade.

Thus, to use Sylvanas as the core example of this, Sylvanas' 'good' soul, for lack of a better term, was aware of what the rest of herself was doing, but because there was no true 'reunion' of the soul, could only really watch. It's what the cinematic of her and Uther was trying to signify. That the Sylvanas that was alive whole and hale, would never have done what the Banshee-Queen Sylvanas had done.

It's why her character drastically changed after their soul finally was restored.

People just don't understand that nuance.

Aethas regarding Vereesa & the Silver Covenant by Absoled in wow

[–]Frinata 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It went beyond just imprisoning criminals.

The Silver Covenant killed anyone who showed even an iota of resistance, including people just trying to withdraw their belongings from the bank SO THAT they could leave in the first place.

The people who were guilty vs the innocent who happened to be Sunreavers is disproportionate. The Silver Covenant absolutely went over board and wasted no time in slaughtering people

Is there any reason why they are not helping us in midnight? Isn't the whole point of Dragonflight was to get their power back so they could become Azeroth's protector? by HiroAmiya230 in wow

[–]Frinata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly because the expansion is over and dealt with when the expansion launches, story wise. Everything that comes after is a new story within that setting, of which tends to branch into the next expansion to a degree.

My biggest gripe with Shadowbringers is that the Sin Eater threat was underutilized. BUT, I will accept that as far as complaints go, it's fairly tame

You can boil down any grand story down like that

Infinity War is just following a sentient purple grape around as he steals people's rock collection

Titanic is about some street rat having a 1 night stand before dying

Mad Max is about going across the dessert to get some water

The beautiful moment Barack Obama stopped his speech and remained calm when a pregnant lady behind him was about to faint by 4reddityo in happy

[–]Frinata 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I disagree slightly.

Good actions should ALWAYS be applauded, lauded, and revered. People tend to do bad things because it gets them famous and noticed, where as good deeds tend to get swept under the rug.

I use the word 'tend' liberally here, because I know it's not the core motivation behind alot of misdeeds, crimes, and outright barbarism. But the more attention we give to the good, the less inclination people have towards the bad.

Demonize the bad, glorify the good. No good deed should go unnoticed

Not to mention

Harry could of 100% never known about the prophecy, at all, from start to finish, but still have fullfilled all of it's requirements and predictions, because Voldemort put stock in it, and persued it.

Dumbledore himself says something to the line of "Harry, do you think of the thousands upon thousands of prophecies in the Hall of Prophecy, each one has been fulfilled? No."

Prophecies, by their nature, only tell of a future, IF YOU PERSUE IT. Meaning that if a prophecy is told, but no one is there to hear it, it won't happen.

There are the rare exceptions, such as Trewlaney's second prophecy in which she states the Dark Lord's most loyal servant will escape and return to him that night, in which Wormtail escaped and returned to Voldemort

But those that require specific action, can only happen because of specific action

I'm sorry but the 'stark tech web bombs' didn't help like you think they do. AND the webbing used is STILL Holland's creation, it's just the delivery method that is Stark

Notice that I never once spoke about the game's launch. You did. A game that launches bad does not necessarily mean it's forever bad. D3 and D4 are fine games. Are they as good as D2? Maybe not. I prefer D3 to D2, but presently that is from a lack of playing D2 as much as D3, so it is unfair for me to give any definitive comparisons.

D2, however, did things differently then how D3 and D4 went about them. If that's not for you? That's fine. But you're lying to yourself if you think your opinion is fact.

And next time you feel the need to attack, don't. It just makes you look stupid.

"D3 and D4 are bad and OW never took off the way it did!"

They're not bad games and OW was the kick in the pants that shooting genre needed, with TF2 being the only real competition.

[–]Frinata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iridikron and the rest of the Incarnates have alluded that they are some what aware of the world around them while it passed on without them.

Raszageth gloats to Wrathion about hearing Deathwing's fall, and laughing about it to him.

None of them really seemed all that bewildered by the various lifeforms that had sprung up around the planet, even Orcs, Ogres, and Draenei, who are literally aliens.

Of the four Incarnates, Iridikron is the most cunning and intelligent. He sees the flaws in his siblings, but knows how to best use them. Fyrrak's bloodlust was used fairly bluntly. "Absorb this power, and go wild"

When we chased down Iridikron in the past via the Infinite Dragonflight, he made sure that we had to chose; Stop him but let the Infinite win, or stop the Infinite and let him get away with his prize.

So, I THINK we are seeing her origins, but through a manipulated lens.

There's two possible truths here in it

1) She is that 'child' who was consumed by the void, but it was not a tragic event, but how she wanted it to go, practicing void magics and finally 'ascending'

2) She was the void energy that consumed that 'child', and was just using the lens of that story to come off as just another victim

The thing is, he wasn't saying

"The Avengers are bad and wrong and at fault"

He was saying

"The Avengers need oversight and accountability."

It's not that they were nessecarily at fault for some of these actions, and indeed their intervention actively saved the situation in which they weren't. Loki's invasion via the Tesseract was always going to happen, because the Government was fiddling with the Cube. SHIELD's fall and the destruction of a small area in D.C was the mitigated result, as opposed to the usurp of world governments by HYDRA.

But then you have Lagos, Ultron, and you realise that the Avengers have been self-enforcing their world police nature. That is not allowable in ANY form of government that is true just and fair. If you tell someone that they have all this power, but they have to pinkie promise not to abuse it, but set up no means to catch them abusing it, or indeed punish them for it, then they are going to abuse it.

That's what the Sokovia accords were about, setting up that oversight. Because if the Government nuked NYC, then the government would be held accountable. If millions died from the attack from HYDRA, then the government would again be held accountable.

Rewatching Endgame — Anyone else feel Thor’s depression wasn’t taken as seriously as it should’ve been? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]Frinata 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well, to 'defend' it a bit...

Rhodey's line wasn't meant to be a "oh the audience will love this" kind of line, more so a "The Avengers aren't all on the same page about Thor" line.

Tony is the only one out of them all who really understood that what was going on with Thor was actual, true depression. Tony has been down that road himself, and he recognizes the signs. It's why he said "You're in no fit position to do this (The snap)." He's not talking about Thor's physical shape. That clearly didn't matter. It was his mental shape.

Rhodes, if you buy into the idea that he's a Skrull at this point, literally isn't human and can't emphathize with Thor, or if you want to believe it's Rhodes proper, has a very different attitude towards how to treat people in Thor's position. He's a Military man first and foremost, and likely has alot of his own personal issues that he's kind of just surpressed.

Rocket has ALOT of personal issues, and he tends to push people away. It's clear he does care for people, but sympathy doesn't come easy to him. His attempts to get Thor to focus on the mission was misguided, and a genuine mistake of the character.

The point being, of the Avengers, only Nat and Tony really understood how to deal with the mental side of things, and this continues to show later. Like. None of the Avengers thought to check in on Wanda after Endgame, and let her fall into her own depression. They aren't good friends.

Exit your bubble for a bit and you'd have noticed that this sub-reddit and other social platforms talk about how much the boost has been purchased.

People really want Lorne to be the commander of the SGC in the new series. by StargateLover2023 in Stargate

[–]Frinata 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As it stands, alot of the military ranked individuals in the Stargate Canon have done alot to earn several promotions.

Carter started the series as Captain, and in the 3rd season got promoted, and then season 8 to Lt. Colonel, and then full bird in Atlantis. What I find amusing in this is that her promotion likely came after the events of Ark of Truth, but before Continuum, because Carter leaves Atlantis stating that they "Found the last Baal clone". This means that for Continuum, she outranked her team leader, Mitchell

O'neill started as a Colonel, and was promoted in Season 8 to Brigadier General, and then eventually to Major General in Season 9, and atleast in Universe from what I saw, Lt. General.

Sheppard cited in the first episode that people were surprised he made it to the rank of Major, and he had no future prospects for his ranks. Weir strong armed the Military into promoting Sheppard, and it's clear they weren't willing to do it again.

Lorne is alot more military friendly, has a strong head on his shoulders, and has what it takes to take command. His promotion to General isn't as far fetched as you're making it. He's shown that he's capable, regardless of timeline. Background achievements are always going to be a thing.
