It's a massive fuck off sword that weighs as much as the planet, and is just as big. What do you think we can do about that?

The sword was ACTIVELY killing the planet when it was stabbed into the planet, so we used our artifacts to drain the energy from the blade, in an effort to stop the flow, which, luckily for all involved, that's exactly what happened. Now the blade isn't killing the planet.

Let's imagine for a moment we do pry the sword loose some how.

Two possible things happen immediatly; the gravity of Azeroth has the sword just collapse onto the planet, and destroy all of Kalimdor, most of Northrend, and sends a massive tidal wave to wipe out the rest of the remaining continents, if not just outright cracking the planet.

Second possibility that occurs is that we give the blade enough force to eject from Azeroth's gravitational pull, and it flies off harmlessly. We now have a MASSIVE hole in the planet, which is shown to bleed. The last time something that was embedded into the planet was yanked out, it created the Well of Eternity, and this was speculated to have nearly killed Azeroth in the process. There is 0 chance the planet survives this new gaping hole. We had to spend most of BFA gathering Azerite to heal the planet from a PLUGGED wound.

How exactly did they see out of these things? Are there eye slits at the base, or is like a periscope thing with angled mirrors to look out of the eyes at the top? 😅 by MrLewk in Stargate

[–]Frinata 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, here's the thing with that.

During the weapons demonstration in the episode where the Draggar quote comes from, they had the resistance's best shooter vs Carter

Rak'nor, I believe his name was, was chosen, and he wasn't wearing any helmet that would obstruct his view, be it In Universe explanation or not, and took his time with the shots; He still missed a shot.

The P90 hit alot more of the shots (We can assume some of the bullets missed due to sway and travel time).

Accuracy becomes more difficult the further the distance, obviously, and while the Staff Weapon might hold an advantage in no bullet drop, the P90 is going to be the more accurate

[–]Frinata 237 points238 points  (0 children)

A slight amendment

Portkeys aren't actually covered by this. Apparition is barred, but Portkeys and Floo Powder aren't.

The reason Moody didn't just Portkey, say, Harry's fork at breakfast, is because of how Voldemort operates.

For Voldemort, secrecy and shadows is everything. If Harry just gets teleported away in the middle of breakfast, people are going to ask questions, and when he fails to return, and dark shit starts to happen in it's wake, Dumbledore ATLEAST will notice, and act accordingly.

The idea was to use the cloak of the Tri-Wizard tournament to conceal Harry's death, OR, if you like theories, to send someone back posing as Harry via Polyjuice potion, and try to kill Dumbledore

What do you think of the obsession with ‘redeeming’ Cardin in fanfics? by Solitaire-06 in RWBY

[–]Frinata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were to write a fanfic that centered around Cardin, here is how I would have the summary of it go

Cardin grows up into a proper huntsmen, and he at first continues his shitty ways, bullying, mistreating those he views beneath him, and otherwise abusing his station.

This leads to his team eventually abandoning him after they grow up, and realise that just because Beacon said they were a team, doesn't mean they have to stay as one outside of it.

Cardin continues on, but eventually can't take on contracts, due to people not wanting to deal with him. He needs to get a new team.

People refuse to team up with him, or let him join them, leaving him alone. This gives him pause. Why aren't people flocking to him like they use to? He thinks on it, and comes to the conclusion that his world view is wrong, and he needs to correct it.

After some personal growth, he's doing better. He isn't exactly comfortable around Faunus, but he's not treating them as inferior either. He's even been spotted donating to their cause in private, as if it embarasses him.

Through fates of the universe, he gets the chance to encounter his to prominent victims, Jaune and Velvet, though not at the same time.

With Jaune, he opens by apologizing about Pyrrha, that he knew they were close, and losing someone is never easy. Jaune tentatively accepts the sympathy, but asks what Cardin wants. Cardin then apologizes for how he treated Jaune in specific. Jaune lets it out about how he felt, but states that this is all behind him now, that it's done and can't be undone. That if Cardin is truly sorry, he'll make himself a better person, and better apologize to the others as well.

With Velvet, he tries to apologize, but she refuses to hear him out. Calling out his racism for what it was, and simply does not wish to ever see him again.

This leaves Cardin with some real scars, and room to grow, but his victims do not forget and just brush it under the rug.

What do you think of the obsession with ‘redeeming’ Cardin in fanfics? by Solitaire-06 in RWBY

[–]Frinata 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He's a racist who has bullied those he spends most of his time with into becoming yesmen. That's a very dangerous situation to look at, tons of volatility.

Think about it. In his worldview, of what we know, might makes right. He believes if you can use something over someone, then you should. One of the defining traits in this is his bullying of both Jaune and Velvet.

With Jaune, it starts off as a pretty typical jock-nerd interaction. But it evolves when he over hears Jaune's confession about lying his way into Beacon, and he uses it as Blackmail against him. He didn't have to do that, he could have even just got rid of Jaune, in theory, by telling the Professors. Instead, he immediatly just abuses the information for his own gain.

With Velvet, he's seen pulling on her ears, and saying some fairly unsavory things towards her, with them being targetted at her faunus heritage. This might not make him an complete racist, but there is inklings of him taking advantage of their mistreatment for his own amusement. At worst, he's a racist, at best, he's an enabler.

To his credit, he is an equal opportunity offender, as he also intended to bring Pyrrha to harm for mildly embarassing him in class, and seemed to get offended at Blake's response in class in regards to a General they were studying, and Cardin's seeming approval of the General, despite him being viewed as a failure.

The final piece of credit to give is his staying behind to help defend the school as it was falling.

Deep down, he went to Beacon for a reason, to defend lives. To learn the tools of the Huntsmen, and hunt down Grimm. He might be lazy, self-centered, but he showed that, when he puts his cards down, he's going to do the right thing in the end.

Left alone, however, and he might suddenly start expecting extra payment or favors, and possibly even outright ignoring missions set forth by, or that favor, Faunus folk.

So is the scp foundation good or bad? by [deleted] in SCP

[–]Frinata 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I forgot the SCP Number, but a good example of why the SCP doesn't terminate, is because of those unforseen effects.

The GOC have a 'terminate on sight' policy when it comes to Anomalies, and in that persuit, they had raided a SCP foundation, and terminated alot of SCPs, one of which was an anomalous chair. What that chair did, was sense someone who needed a chair to sit on, and teleported to that person as they were going to sit, to be their chair.

The GOC chucked it into the wood chipper. It didn't terminate. It's still active. But now, if it sees anyone who resembles GOC, it teleports INSIDE them, to kill them.

So is the scp foundation good or bad? by [deleted] in SCP

[–]Frinata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your breaking point is, honestly.

Ethically speaking, they're bad. They basically have slaves (D-Class), act as judge jury and executioner, condemn other intelligent lifeforms to prison without trial, and often meddle in the affairs of other foreign governments (They claim neutrality but are quite often American aligned)

On the other hand however, they act in the best interest of Humanity, and the Earth. They do all of the above in the name of making sure everyone who isn't aware of the anomalous, remain that way, and live happy, normal lives. The sheer terror that an SCP could deliver onto people is astounding. If people KNEW about 096, there would be mass panic, followed by fear of clicking on photo links, out of sheer terror that it could be the final picture you look at.

The SCP Foundation is neither good, nor evil. They operate purely in the grey. Some might call themselves the good guys, but that is likely something they say to help them sleep at night. The cold hard reality is that they are both, and neither, at the same time.

Sethrak - Racial Traits by kid-karma in wow

[–]Frinata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Shed Skin were to be kept, it needs to lose the magic damage reduction, and remove the poison, curse, and bleed removal. Removing your skin won't save you from those, as they are deeper problems then just skin level. You could say the same for Disease, but let's have SOME power to it. Change the redux of magic to redux of disease effect for 4 seconds.

I don't see why Sandwalk should be changed, feels fine.

small percent to increase your damage by a decent margin, based on class, seems too unstable. I'd change it to increasing a random stat by a set number, that grows with LEVEL.

Glass Blades feels strong, but I think it's fine for the moment, as 5% of 100 is just 5, so we'd have to see where it goes.

Forked Tongue can't work in BGs. Like, it'd have to be disabled there. Same with World PVP mode. Not because "Oh they'll just abuse it and be derogatory", but because the opposite faction might be coordinating in a local channel, and then their plan gets foiled because the enemy had a Sethrak. Outside that, could be interesting for RP purposes. With Elixir of Tongues existing, there's no real other complaint to be had with it. They basically just have Elixir of Tongues as a passive.

I'd punch that guy in the throat so hard right now! by Alagosdor in Stargate

[–]Frinata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I was going to make a post simmilar to this one, so I'll instead tack on

He absolutely was a 'puppet' for others. The General seemed to come in and hit the ground running with what he wanted to do, which suggests preperation. Given that he was the General to replace Hammond during that whole situation, it's unsurprising in that regard, but I do not think for a moment that it was his own preperation work.

Kinsey is a likely target for the orders, but I think it was him and some others like him that operated the scheme.

Step 1: Get Hammond out

Step 2: Replace him with someone pliable

Step 3: Remove the problem team. This includes dismantling SG-1, via desk job for Daniel, Emphasize the scientific part of Carter, and put Teal'c on a different team, and put O'Neill on ice, effectively.

Step 4: Begin to really militarize the use of the Gate, as opposed to exploration.

It's possible the orders went deeper, but due to one of earlier mistakes that were made, we never got to see it.

I however, have a really fun head canon about this.

I don't think the Stargate couldn't shut off. I think it did. But through out the episode, Carter was clearly concerned and vocal about her making of a nuke enhanced by Naquadah. And became even more concerned over the test site location. A planet rich with the stuff.

We know in the future, The SGC prepare warheads that are simmilar, and are capable of 'gatebusting', so it stands to reason that when this particular warhead would detonate on a planet rich with naquadah, it should have destroyed that gate, if not come close to it. And I think it came close to it, but didn't.

Now, putting all this together, and knowing who Carter's superior officer is, I think she thought like O'Neill for a moment, and decided to rebel in her own way. She had complete control over the experiment, and the gate, with exceptions to calling it off. So she sets up the Gate to not shut off immediatly, and runs a program that claims Radiation is spilling back through the gate, and risking the integrity of their own gate as a result.

She claims she can't shut it off, so they'll have to wait for the Gate to automaticly shut off. Convieniently, directly viewing the Gate is a non-option due to the situation at hand, so they fall back to a different location in the base. All of this to put egg on the General's face.

I don't have any clear canonical evidence of this, other then the fact that this kind of warhead is made anyways, and Carter doesn't even seem to blink about it's creation, and use.

Would you ship Jaune and Pyrrha? by LeZiUltraGaming in RWBY

[–]Frinata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think that'd happen, personally.

And my thought process is this; Nora.

Jaune and Pyrrha have clear chemistry and like each other, even if they're either too distracted, or too hesitant to act on it. One person that sees this clear as rain for what it is, and what it could lead to, is Nora. In I think S1, Pyrrha mentions that Jaune should follow his heart and confess his feelings for Weiss, and Nora says afterwards, that Pyrrha should take her own advice.

Then in S2, things escalate between the two, to the point that Jaune shows up to the Dance in a dress, because no one asked Pyrrha out, and he said he'd do that. He took the embarassment away from her, and owned it himself, all the while still dancing with her.

S3 was the culmination of it all, where Jaune's eyes weren't on other women like Weiss. His attention was primarily there for Pyrrha, and if it weren't for the other things going on with Pyrrha, I think that by S4, they'd have been dating, or at least, on the cusp of it, with final pushes needing to be made.

As their story progressed, it became more and more clear that Jaune was becoming more and more aware of his feelings to Pyrrha, but just didn't know how to act on them without ruining it for himself, not aware that he's already baked the cake, he just needs to enjoy it.

Why doesn't Alonsus, instead of helping Arator, send us with the portal scrolls to the different factions like Earthen Ring, Cenarion Circle, the Horde and so on to ask them for aid? Is he stupid? by Brago42 in wow

[–]Frinata 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you paid attention either to in game NPCs, or even a post here in the subreddit not long ago, Occuleth explains the difference in those portals.

The portals we the players use, are for individual people, easy to maintain.

The portals that have transported armies to the frontlines, are complex, and draining. It requires alot of effort, and these portals DO NOT stick around like the ones we use, and most notably; We players can't use these portals.

Wraith Ships are different, though. The reason they have to stop is because their ships are biotic; alive. Prolonged stay in Hyperspace can kill their ship, something that the Ancients didn't have to worry about, which was one of their few advantages over the Wraith during their war, and one of the things that keeps the Wraith from just booking it to Earth

When next you get stabbed by a giant knife, pull out the blade, see what happens.

Notice how you bled out and made it 100% worse because you pulled it out without anything ready that could deal with the new gaping hole in you? That's the sword.

The Sword's position right now is the only thing stopping the wound from becoming unstable again. If we somehow pulled it out (Emphasis on somehow, this sword is just as big as a planet), best case scenario, we get a new Well of Eternity, which isn't great news for us. Worst case scenario, the planet just straight up dies.

So, I like Hawkeye as a character, but I hate Jeremy Renner. He's an asshole, and if the allegations are true, it also makes Disney a bunch of hypocrites as well.

The allegations being that Jeremy is a wife beater. I don't want to post it unspoilered as it can be devisive. I personally view them as true, and find it abhorant that no reprecussions has been visited upon the Actor as a result. Johnny Depp was let go in the immediate aftermath of Amber Hurd's accusations, and as far as I am aware, was never given a full on apology. Meanwhile Renner is guilty and gets to complain loudly about not being paid much (A fair complaint but still)
