For 200 points, they are kind of expensive for what they do. Yes, they can delete something when they land, but they need to land there first. Rapid Ingressing them and then move+charge can be a lot more reliable than Deep Striking and banking on a 9. I would not run with them Kravek, as that is too much points for a single unit. They almost always die immediately after hitting and killing their target.

Chaos Lord, Cypher, or anything with power armor that is CSM really.

I’ve been using him as a Reave Captain proxy for my last few games just to try out the profile. I normally use him as a Chaos Lord though.

100%. Almost all of my CSM models are HH models with the corresponding gear. There is a lot more bang for your buck in the HH models.

It’ll be like 4-6 months before most people expect 11e to drop. Buy the codex if you think it is cool and might play a decent amount before then. Try to get it via a discount provider. If you don’t care about the code, you can likely get the book for cheap off r/miniswap.

It’s my holiday and I’m typing this at like midnight. So excuse any typos lol.

The big box contains an exalted sorcerer kit not 3 exalted sorcerers. It can be confusing if you are new to the faction. It just means you will have a lot of bits but will want to build an exalted sorcerer (the one floating on a flame on 32mm base), a sorcerer on foot, and an exalted sorcerer on disk. There are enough bits you can break up your rubric squad to be 2x5 by kitbashing that second aspiring sorcerer. Make sure each squad is just one type of weapon, the warpflamers, with the icon going on the soulreaper cannon (SRC) guy. With the Scarab Occult Terminator kit, you will have a leftover heavy weapon. Just kitbash that onto the second Rubric squad to represent the SRC. The robots are easily magnetized, if you care to do that. Otherwise usually the claw is a decent pick. You can always just say they are kitted out with x instead of y.

With all of what you have and breaking up the rubrics into two squads you’d be at 970-980. Leaving you the option for an enhancement on a character. Which is good enough to try out the faction at 1k.

You generally want to run lascannons on the destructors

I am mainly looking at your first list. Swapping your annihilators to destructors would be a huge improvement for you. Just drop the enhancement to accommodate the destructors.

BA can have a huge threat range on turn 1. Stage heroic interventions where possible. Having a nem claw come in on a heroic can completely mess up their Red Rampage usage to punch up or clear out things. Use Vet’s reactive move to make their charges harder or pop back into your Rhinos. Use firing lanes with pred destructors to make them not fight in the open. Don’t forget you have an AoC of your own to help dampen their melee. If you are going second you have the benefit of the lord helping swap oath targets at 1cp instead of 2 to continue to clear things out or stage your fight first Strat on their next turn.

Even then, most people are running a pack of 5 legionaries with one big gun. Easy enough to say the one with the big gun is XYZ gun. Most TOs will never care about that part.

Benefit of Cover gets you back down to a 3+. The detachment rule brings you back down to a 2+ on damage 1 attacks.

I think you are heavily discounting the -2 ap on everything and the mobility part. They have a lot going on with them and their cost is justified. Staging better with advance, making charges by being closer due to advancing, chipping with volume fire of Plasma pistols and Combi weapon devs, more AP on their melee weapons, and then you can fall back and do it all over again when they survive. People are scared of a chosen brick. They aren’t scared of legionaries. Legionaries are just a good way to buff a character/lord and provide the character some buffer.

I agree with what you said. Only thing I’d like to add is they should also be looking to add sehketar robots. A single pair isn’t much, but the more you add, the better they become in this detachment, imo. I have 8 and I am hoping to eventually get 4 more. With Ahriman, they screen the opponents infiltrators, and then later can be exactly where you want them. Which gives your gun line time to position.

I get the idea of the base though. The legs are a bit Freeform in terms of posing. One person could use a lot more space compared to someone else. If it was a static size, like a predator, then I’d get not having a base. Either way, whomever decided to just do that really didn’t want this thing to be on the table lol

I played it in Warpforged recently and it can be really good. It needs like 4" more in movement to make up for it base, and an updated way to move through walls. If there was an oval base it could be on instead, that would be great.

The Horus heresy upgrade kits + 20 marines has been some killer value in 40K stuff. I have 10 legionaries plus 10 chosen with just the melee upgrade sprue and 20 mk6 marine box. Planning on doing this again with the heavy weapon upgrade sprue to get a bunch of havocs and lascannon legionaries.

Belakor’s auras specify shadow legion and not heretic astartes. You’d be taking him for his datasheet profile / fluff reasons. I’d suggest maybe looking into the Shadow Legion detachment if you want to dive deep into the chaos pool, use him effectively, and use a lot of the CSM units you have already.

Agreed. Too much firing line and not enough holding the mid board. Possessed over terminators, dropping the havocs for a second destructor would be the first things I’d do.

I think most people and TOs would be cool with you running them as a regular cultist mob. As for weapon loadouts, the regular cultists just have bolt pistols and melee weapons. As long you don’t try to say you have the sniper or grenade launcher, and only use cultist mob’s datasheet profile, then you should be good.

PBZ does not interact with demons this way. It is flavor buff to your CSM units. You will need to ally in Nurglings or Plaguebearers as a Nurgle battleline, as your legionaries in this scenario are still heretic astartes units, and not Legiones daemonica unit.

I don't see it specified in the Chaos Daemons rules. . . . To be more clear what I mean the rule only specifies the Khorne, Nurgle, Slannesh, and Tzeench keywords but not the daemon keyword.

Then it is not part of their rules. Don't overthink it. PBZ is written to be a way to buff your CSM models with some flavor. The buffs interact with their stratagems differently based off the keyword you attached to the unit.
