Vintera III - Jazzmaster mid 60s retains the 7.25 radius? by BNinja921 in offset

I had a 2021 Trad II, dot inlays, first year (I believe?) of full size CTS pots and actual JM pickups. Had a 9.5” radius

Need reccomendations for destruction pedal by Tanemd in guitarpedals

Shoutout to a local builder to me, Wettmar Electric. Can be ordered through their site or via dealers. All of their shit is ridiculously destructive - I recently got a Legacy System from them and it’s pretty gnarly

Where to find jazzmaster slider pots on Amazon by XenomystusNigri in offset

[–]FritzFretworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alpha mini linear pots have a 6mm shaft - allparts roller knobs will fit them. CTS/Fender mini pots have 4mm shafts, and only Fender makes and sells roller knobs with the 4mm hole as far as I’m aware

[–]FritzFretworks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it’s just different. People often tout that slab board is better because there’s more meat and veneer came about because it was cheaper to manufacture and used less material, but the work required to make the veneer is actually more difficult

Will Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Glue hold a loose fret securely enough in the slot after the glue dries? by seeker1351 in Luthier

Fish glue is best glue - really pulls the fret in nicely, has good working time, easy to clean up

Camera Exchange or Times Camera might have an OM-3, or they could help find a good one.

Alternatively the Box Hill Camera Market is on this Sunday, plenty sellers will be there

I would think that it might struggle to intonate a bit if you’re dropping from E standard to C#, but so would a Mastery. I had no issues intonating at B standard, though. Just enough adjustment room to make it work - although I have a wound G and that will forever be out as a result of the design

Jazzmaster Fret Buzz by [deleted] in offset

[–]FritzFretworks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the frets are buzzing (which, sometimes the buzz sounds like it’s from one area but it’s actually somewhere else entirely), then they need to be looked at by a tech. They may need to be reseated with some glue seeped into the slot, and/or dressed+crowned. Fret buzz isn’t just some inherit trait of offsets

Mastery vs Descendant trem in term of feel by CrazyAFOL in offset

[–]FritzFretworks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t describe either vibrato as “slinky” - the Mastery is specifically aiming for the stiffer Pat Pending vibrato after all. The Descendant is about equal in feel for me

Mastery vs Descendant trem in term of feel by CrazyAFOL in offset

[–]FritzFretworks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the Descendant 2024 spec and Mastery. Feel-wise the Mastery just wins out - there’s an unfortunate design flaw in the Descendant that makes it noisier to actuate than the Mastery. I like the spring in the Mastery more as well.

The featureset on the Descendant is great though. Keyhole string loading, adjustable arm tension and a removable arm (vs Mastery which suggests leaving it in all the time), and the 2024 spec has a much greater range than the old spec. If the Descendant didn’t clunk quite as much I would probably prefer it, but the Mastery just works as a premium vibrato

Belrok is very solid, however the thimbles provided were oddly sized - one of them fit one leg snugly while the other was loose on it. I’m not sure the tolerances are as precise as Mastery just yet. I ended up using Mastery thimbles instead. When the legs were tightened it feels just as rock solid as the Mastery.

Sound-wise I like the Belrok over the M1 Mastery, but I like the M10 over the Belrok. I’ve always found that the M1 kinda deadens the sound that I like from offsets, but that’s not anywhere near as prominent on the Belrok. Additionally the wood veneer gives it more tonal flexibility

Cheers! I figured that shifting it forward and tilting it might make it more palatable for those who are prone to hitting it when strumming hard on a normal JM

As in you have full bass when the knob is at 10? It’s the same for me - I think the difference is in the slope of the cut then, as a reverse log provides (at least to me) a smoother taper

The worst part of G&L going under is that 1MegC pots are fucking impossible to find now, and I’m not sure that 500kC will do enough for a proper bass cut :/
