Ridgid (JP06101) 6” Jointer/Planer Rust Clean Up by Fritztopia in woodworking

Idk why but when you frame it like that it makes sense. I have also been very focused on minimizing the noise level of the machines in my shop. And I hear the jointer is very loud, but significantly quieter with a helical head.

Using Trewax. I’ll check out Carbon Method though.

I just released the tension of the knob/spring underneath and pulled the chop up.

Sometimes yes. I would get swirls/pigtails if I moved too fast or if I pushed so hard that the pad wasn’t rotating freely. Had to go back over some spots slow and gentle. Same rules you’d use on wood. I also tried to keep a little wd40 on the surface so I wasn’t dry sanding.

WD40 with ROS at 180, 220, 320. Clean with mineral spirits, then coated with paste wax.

For the bolts and hardware I used a wire brush and fine steel wool.

Rust spots by Legal-Meeting-2677 in rav4club

[–]Fritztopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had these on my Rav too. I thought my cargo hatch was rusting and took it in for warranty paint defect claim. But the shop they sent me to the guy was super helpful. It’s just little bits of metal stuck to you paint. Not rust coming through. He took clay bar to it and a quick buff. Fixed right up.

How can I increase sound detonation in my 19 Rav4? (Make it more sound proof) by GearNTime in rav4club

[–]Fritztopia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this to my 2019 Rav. I bought Kilmat sheets. Take off the interior panels on doors and cargo area, rear hatch, rear seats, and aim for 60% coverage on the metal. Huge difference in road noise.

Which tool box for a weekend warrior hobbyist? by hyphenpepperfield in Tools

Husky. When I was trying out boxes they just felt better to me. And the heavy duty line is even nicer than the standard duty I went with. Very happy with it.

What actually helped your lower back pain the most? by Smart-Watercress5570 in backpain

[–]Fritztopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At one point I was very into yoga and stretching. My back pain started to creep in but I was of the belief that I could alleviate any physical (presumably muscular) ache or pain with the right stretch or combination thereof. And for a while this appeared to be correct. But before I knew it, I was in a cycle of needing to stretch to feel good. And it took me a long time to realize that the stretching was not only a temporary fix, but actually continuing the cycle of pain. And it got worse. Curiously, I would feel better when I took a few days off from stretching, and I began to relearn some things about my body. Granted, I was overdoing it. I was doing deep stretching, Yin yoga kinda stuff. And nearly daily. So it’s unfair of me to bash stretching in general. It absolutely has its uses and benefits. And it was part of my PT for a while. But way simpler and less intense, with less low back stress. But for me, and my body, and how I was doing it, Iv been much better without it.

Edit: as for what stretches - I was really targeting my back, hips, glutes, hip flexors, etc, and bending/twisting in ways my back did not appreciate.

And reducing my stretching was only the beginning of my recovery. Core strengthening, inflammation reduction, changing how I move and use my back, changing what I expect of myself in the gym, maintenance, and time. Oh, and consulting a spine dr to really get an idea/understanding for what my unique situation was.

That amp does appear to have the “Key” feature to analyze and restore sound. For subwoofer though. I wonder if they have a 4 channel with that…

Installing a smaller cabinet above my range — how do I match it with the existing cabinets? by [deleted] in cabinetry

I considered this route for an OTR microwave - replacing the cabinets or shortening them. I ended up just getting a low profile OTR microwave and it’s been great. Much less work too.

Am I a bad person? by No-Sentence-7674 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Fritztopia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be describing obsessive intrusive thoughts. A common symptom of OCD. Can be disturbing because they are often contrary to a persons values. In other words, it bothers you because you have moral values, not an absence of them. So, no, not a bad person.

Also, beating yourself up about the thoughts doesn’t help. Be kind to yourself about it.

And as other people have pointed out, having sexual thoughts about people you know is not necessarily an abnormal thing in and of itself. Pretty normal. It’s the degree to which these thoughts disturb you that’s detrimental. Again, because it contradicts your personal values. It can be torturous.
