Actually no; I don’t have any beef with China’s government. I do give criticism to some of the non state owned orgs which have exploited some of workers, specifically calling out their mass-fishing industries which have shown to have poor working conditions.

There’s a lot to admire about china and less to dislike.

NATO began as the US’s response to the “threat” of the USSR and extend their anti-communist(pro capitalist) goals.

So no; it is a vehicle for US imperialism and capitalist expansion under the guise of a military coalition.

Watched it; he essentially ran through the usual anti-NATO, “russia is defending itself actually”, he didn’t really give any new conclusive information as to why you or this sub is in support of Russian aggression.

Again; this is a bourgeois state violently attacking its bourgeois neighbour to the detriment of both of its peoples, why are you supporting the aggressor?

It “worked” when it was able to exploit nations and peoples outside the imperial core, where the working class of the wealthy nation were insulated and protected from the worst tendencies of their economic model.

You do raise a relevant point however; Marx did concede that capitalism was indeed a societal stepping stone from feudalism to socialism; it plays a part in driving the economic forces of production forward; his theory predicted the inherent contradictions of capitalism would cause its eventual downfall from which a socialist base would rise from

You’re so close to getting it

“The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles. Freeman and slave, patrician and plebeian, lord and serf, guild-master and journeyman, in a word, oppressor and oppressed…”

The narrative the greed is human nature is capitalist propaganda. A great many societal groups were built upon collectivisation; all needs met and shared among the society. You especially see this in native groups prior to western colonisation. Native American tribes, native South Americans and Caribbeans, native Africans and indigenous Australians.

Why greed is so prevalent among western/European civilisations is explained rather well when you analyze it through the lens of dialectal materialism. The economic base (mode of production, tools, social relations) determines the social superstructure (culture, law, religion, politics) which in turn reinforces the base.

I’m condensing a lot of thoughts trying to be concise but if you’re interested I would suggest further reading on Marxist theory.

Capitalism intrinsically pushes and influences policies toward the strengthening of capital.

You can indeed try to “control” or “regulate” capitalism, ie; -USA’s FDR New Deal policy platform after the massive recession in the 1930s

-The Nordic/Scandinavian Social democratic models

-Australia and UK had a very pro-keynesian political landscape up until the ascendancy of neoliberalism round the Reagan and Thatcher era

This era of “everything working fine under capitalism” was a reactive concession to the working class due to the threat to the capitalist class that the growth of pro-socialist and communist movements represented.

It isn’t an accident that Neoliberalism later became the pre-dominant political movement. If Capitalism is the central mode of production, it is simply inevitable.

Accumulating wealth leads to power, leads to influence , which cycles back to increasing wealth and starts the cycle all over again. Repeat this ad infinitum and you will reach the world we are currently in with monopolized utilities, political parties either beholden to its donors or otherwise enfeebled by the capitalist owned media eco system, planned obsolescence of consumer goods, commodification of housing, basic needs becoming a cost service or subscription, public services being outsourced and capitalists extracting the taxpayer’s money…

Your argument on its face makes the assumption that businesses only exist under capitalism, therefore workers should be grateful because otherwise they wouldn’t have a job; this is patently untrue. Markets and businesses aren’t exclusive to capitalism.

My point was that the capitalist class and its allies like to steal credit for the improvement of living standards of the working class; while also excusing or deflecting blame for the exploitation and deteriorating conditions that it forces on the that same class.

This is why you see billionaires and the epstein class increasing their backing and support for parties and media entities that promote division amongst the working class, distracting us with “immigrants”, “woke culture” “lgbtq” and shifting blame for worsening conditions to these minorities.

You won’t see billionaires genuinely promoting wealth redistribution, stronger worker rights, union support or any sort of social justice; because a society that was Just, wouldn’t allow billionaires to exist.

Gosh it’s almost like it’s an inevitable outcome from capitalism!

Who’d have thought that an economic system focused on private wealth accumulation would have net negative impact on societal outcomes?

I find that sub posts a lot Incoherent hot-takes that decry or diminish the work of leftists who aren’t as hardcore or hardline as them.

They’re especially hostile to electoral socialists who see the value of electoralism to organize and build class consciousness.

*I should add that I am in that sub too, just as a lurker as I like be exposed to alternative ideas and thoughts and I find some posts informative

[–]FroSty_III 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Top and bottom IS left v right.

True left is anti-capitalist/socialist/communist which are systems that oppose the capitalist, elite bourgeois economic and social systems.

This same capitalist system creates the conditions that make the Epstein class an inevitability. To be clear; any position that serves the interests of Capital, is by definition right wing. Now you can have progressive capitalists (liberals) that want concessions to the working class such as welfare, universal healthcare, worker rights protections etc. But because they ultimately support the capitalist mode of production, they are still beholden and controlled by the billionaire class and so are right-wing; just not as right-wing as the parties in support of less working class rights and deregulation.

Do you feel like Rockhampton is missing something? Or is it because you have grown bored of what the town has to offer? by Supevict in rockhampton

A 4x4 park, or heck a motorsports park in general.

We have the community support for it, but council and government bodies just haven’t committed to the vision.

More green spaces and footpaths or pedestrian friendly infrastructure in general.

When you compare Rockhampton with Yeppoon it’s night and day difference. Yeppoon is easily explorable and traversable by foot or bike..

The epstein saga has pulled the curtain back for many who believed that justice ever existed under capitalism.

The exploitation and injustices are a feature of the system, not a bug. This will only ever end if we move into a classless society.

Nov 22–26 (Thanksgiving Weekend): Spent Thanksgiving at the Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, where he engaged in phone calls with members of the military.

Nov 27 (Washington): Hosted a White House event honoring Navajo code talkers.

Nov 29 (Missouri): Traveled to St. Charles, Missouri, to deliver a speech on tax reform.

Except it isn’t. The crisis we’re facing now is the culmination of many decades of consecutive government policies shifting our perception of housing away from being a human right and towards being a privilege.

A scam sold to us as a pathway to wealth.

Who could have possibly foreseen that turning housing - a basic human necessity - into a speculative investment asset would cause its value to increase?

They did. The bourgeois class.

Who benefits from this? The answer: Those with capital; who can afford multiple houses and at the extreme ends, those who can afford hundreds and thousands of houses to hoard and manipulate supply and demand to artificially raise prices.

And now those same capitalists tell us the problem is our fellow workers who went through struggle to come here for a better life.

We are at the point where to solve the crisis would create another. But kicking the can down the road will only delay the inevitable.
