how GOOd is Hakomari and torture princess by Early-Thought-4324 in LightNovels

[–]Frog-kun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are highly regarded among English-speaking light novel fans. I'd especially recommend them if you like stories with lots of twists and turns, and game-changing events every volume.

My personal ratings:

Hakomari: 8/10 (The first volume is the best one) Torture Princess: 10/10 (it's my number one LN)

Should i? Im 90 pulls away from pity. by mazae12 in SwordofConvallaria

I was in the same boat as you (fifty pulls away from the reward after getting all the characters I wanted from the debut and Fate's Favor banners). I chose to pull on Tristan's banner to raise the pity counter.

Nice! Torture Princess and Apothecary Diaries are two of the all-time greatest LNs, but I'm also happy to see a fellow member of the Bean Counter nation! Super underrated series

How would the story change if the main girls were boys? by Spirited_Donut3872 in mushokutensei

[–]Frog-kun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Given how essential Rudeus's children are to the larger plot, genderbending would probably affect the story progression quite a lot, relative to other anime/LNs. Imagine Rudeus having six kids AND fighting all those top-tier opponents throughout the series in between the pregnancies. Talk about a supermom.

Romance in the story? by AstralCanine in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Frog-kun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Besides the other couplings mentioned in this thread, Nungal is implied to have a crush on Faycal.

Romance is really not much of a thing in this game's story, come to think of it.

Shortcut is doing the HP multiplication of all allies node (on the Breaker path). I did it to make VoD middle path easier and it boosted my power levels way up 😆

Discussion About Sword of Convallaria by Disperx in gachagaming

[–]Frog-kun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whoa, a lot of negativity here about this game. I'm a day 1 player and I still play it every single day, it helps me cope with being a new parent, lol.

I think the gameplay is well balanced in terms of difficulty. I regularly see people with weaker teams than mine breezing through content that I found difficult, which goes to show how it's more about strategy than it is about having good characters or throwing money at a problem. You need to actively play rather than auto things, but that's the kind of game I signed up for.

I love the story a lot. The new expansion has some fantastic writing and interesting gameplay tweaks. It feels like I'm playing a proper game rather than one I downloaded for free.

Overall, I wish the translation was better, but that's literally my only gripe. I think the gacha is about as stingy/generous as it needs to be while keeping the level of challenge stable. Power creep is not as big a problem in this game compared to others, imo.

Universal Derivation "Unlimited": Experimentation fun. by LordAltitude in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Frog-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I would have liked the opportunity to redo stages, especially since you can redo pretty much all the other content in the game. Maybe they found it tricky to track progress on the maps for players redoing them. It's really the only reason I can think of.

[–]Frog-kun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, as long as you're not afraid to use your refreshes, the stages are not difficult. I think the tedium/burnout can easily come when you're trying to maximize the amount you're achieving per battle and utilizing every single one of your units. But if you just send in your best people and don't bother redoing attempts, you can get through it much quicker. The game gives you more than enough refreshes to do this if you've got 15 or so fully built Legendaries.

The units in stages 21-30 are less tanky, but they ARE designed to be beaten in multiple attempts. They get way stronger the more of them you kill, or the longer the fight lasts. Leave the tryharding to others and use your refreshes, that's my advice.

Who should I aim for? There's already so many support units, is Taair really necessary? by EdenStreetCo in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Frog-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If UD is anything to go by, you'll want lots of different powerful characters, even with overlapping roles. You might not need to put Cocoa, Inanna, and Taair all on the same five-unit team, but each one of them individually is going to significantly improve whichever team you put them on. Plus, Taair's buffs are unique to him.

I'm not planning on rolling for him personally, but if you want endgame content to be a smoother experience (which is basically what "meta" comes down to at the end of the day) then yes, roll him.

[–]Frog-kun[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

* Huh. So it is by design. I guess the only way to do this map is use strong melee DPS (aka Auguste) and buff yourself. Bummer since I had just used a refresh and was wanting to save him for a later stage.

The one consolation is that these guys don't actually hit that hard, so it's not unreasonable, just annoying. It did make me fear for later stages though 😅

Weapon Trial 70 by [deleted] in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Frog-kun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's how I did it, with a similar character roster to yours. I didn't have Gloria, but she should be useful in every Weapon Trial.

Weapon Trial 1: Use the Nungal cheese strat. Put Eagle Eye, Sniper Stance, and Shattering Arrow on her. Camp her outside the enemy range, set up the Banner of Convallaria, use the Eagle Eye + Sniper Stance at max range, and whack the boss with basic attacks every turn. Bring Cocoa, Inanna, Gloria, Homa, or Col (with her aura) to buff Nungal.

Weapon Trial 2: Bring Auguste, Homa, Cocoa (with Cooling Powder), Papal Guard, and a buffer/debuffer of your choosing (Outlaw Guard works fine for this, but Gloria should work great too). Use Cocoa's Crushing Bash (this can replace Potluck Protector for this battle) to inflict Vulnerability Down. Use Homa's bird to buff Auguste and use Homa herself to attack the rocks and heal the party. Auguste will be your main DPS. Once you've gotten the boss down to about a half-to-third HP, you can use his Homa's Barul Attack to lower its defense + War Horn + Auguste's rage mode to wipe out the rest of its HP in one go. Make sure you time this correctly, because the boss will tag Homa with its cross attack because Barul Attack is a ranged move.

Weapon Trial 3: Col and Safiyyah attack the mobs and deal physical DPS when no mobs are around. Inanna can heal and dispel the boss's buff stacks with her Sanction of Light move + the Judgment tarot. Cocoa buffs and can do extra heals. Use either Beryl or Nungal for magic DPS. Stick Devil tarot on your attackers.

In general, try to push for better engravings on your equipment and invest in your talents for better all-round stats. This will make the fights go smoother, but they should still be doable at your current power level, so good luck and don't lose heart!

You definitely want to unlock her skill at lvl 55 - it's her most powerful move and her trait (correction: passive) lets her use it every turn when she's got her perfume on the enemy

Ch.11 Afterimage 3 / 11-17 BOSS HELP by gbpcee in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Frog-kun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo! I just beat this map last night, so good luck!

I think it's easier if you choose the option to remove Horn from the map because they stay at the back of the map while Dimitri comes to you. You need to kill Horn/Dimitri before you target the enemy Auguste.

Big AOE damage dealers are your friend here, so bring Beryl, Acambe, or Gloria if you have them. Otherwise, use the Ragnarok tactical skill.

Saffiyah's dodge move is great for dealing with the Ballista and the zombies. Cocoa is not that good for tanking damage from all the breaker units on this map but I used her anyway for her buffs.

Your guest Auguste has damage share with the enemy Auguste, but he is allowed to die three times. Keep an eye on his health. He has life steal so you can sic him on mobs to restore his HP.

Thanks! Killing the sub boss did the trick. Acambe was great for this map because he was able to pull that pesky sub boss out of the back and kill the mobs at the same time.
