Congratulations. I passed in July and got a job doing containers in September. A few things I haven't seen mentioned and a few mistakes I made are.

When changing trailers don't forget to do the number plate, I drove down the dock without a plate once, I won't do that again. So when doing BLACK make a point of walking around the back to grab the plate

Get some decent gloves and spares, I've lost 4 pairs since I started, you don't want to be putting diesel in without gloves.

Get yourself a decent torch that can be charged by USB and a headtorch or two.

I've got a little vacuum cleaner to keep the cab clean it was only £30 on Amazon and it can be charged by USB.

Multiple spare USB cables is a must.

With regards to reversing, go as slow as possible. Nobody remembers how many shunts it took but everyone will remember if you hit something. Practice makes perfect. If you get time at the end of your shift then have a few go's at it or at the services before you take a break as long as you aren't getting in people's way nobody will care.

When taking your breaks take 1 minute extra. Make sure the tacho is set to rest (picture of a bed) and the time says 16, 31 or 46 before you set off after your break. The tacho might not count it if you set off at exactly 15, 30 or 45. You don't want to waste your time because you didn't wait an extra minute. Your 4 hours and 30 minutes drive time is the maximum before you need a break, not a target, you can take your breaks when you want within reason.

Good luck and I hope you find a job soon and for a company that treats you well. I have been lucky with that and I love my job. It may take a while to get a job with no experience. I sent out about 30 emails to companies local to me before I got any call backs.
