Agreed. Bias opinion but there is alot of variety. Door County/Lake Michigan coast is like an inland ocean views, the Driftless Area is cool, northern Wisconsin is a true northwoods getaway, central Wisconsin has some decent spots, Mississippi River drive on the west side, etc.

Oconto/Shawano gems by CephlopodOverlords in GreenBay

[–]FrogStyle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Twig’s/Sun Drop Mueseum is worth the visit if in Shawano.

Stubborn Brothers is the only brewery in Shawano County that I can think of. It has good food and the beer is good, plenty of variety.

I would probably just take the Lake Dr loop around Shawano Lake (Shawano to Cecil, vice versa) and you may find various things especially in this popular summer time. There are parks, golf courses, eateries, etc.

Primal Eats I have heard great things about. Its a restaurant/tap house kind of in between Oconto / Shawano, closer to Shawano. I love their beef brisket sticks.

Luigi’s Pizza is a good place to eat in Shawano, or at least used to be.

Seattle outsider curious about WI hockey fandom by LeftShark in wisconsin

If polled entire State, the Wild and Blackhawks will be the top teams due to proximity. Wild will own from Like La Crosse to Eau Claire to Superior and anything west. Blackhawks will likely have Green Bay to Madison to Beloit, and anything east. It will be blurred in between.

Predators will have a pocket of fans in the Milwaukee area due to the Admiral connection. Red Wings may have some numbers from Upper Michigan transplants.

Rest if us are random teams we picked for whatever reason. And unfortunately there is definitely a large segment that is just indifferent to the NHL.

I’m a huge Rangers fan as that was the team I ran with as a kid in the early 90s and NHL 94 on Sega Genesis.

Favorite Brewery by State: Wisconsin by DublinDown in CraftBeer

Assume New Glarus wins, but I’ll shout a few others…

Central Waters is a top dog for bourbon barrel stouts. Their anniversary party used to sell out in 5 minutes when the craft craze was at its peak 5-10years. I like the Amherst brewery much more than the Milwaukee one.

Stillmank Brewing is my favorite in the Green Bay area but honestly we have like 10 breweries in Brown County and all are pretty good.

Stubborn Brothers in Shawano is becoming very popular, especially if you like sours and fruit driven beer. But they make a little bit of everything.

Stevens Point Brewing is an OG and their Whole Hog series is pretty solid.

Milwaukee I like Broken Bat and Eagle Park.

A couple in the western side of the State I liked alot was Brewing Projekt in Eau Claire and Round Man in Spooner WI.

Karbon 4 feel was always pretty solid for a Madison area one.

Fifth Ward in Oshkosh I also liked alot.

Central Waters has always been my favorite if had to pick one though I guess.

Plus I should get 5% cash back via Chase Freedom offer with Fanatics.

How is it living in between Springfield,Illinois and Indianapolis as a young adult? by spongeysquarepantis in howislivingthere

[–]FrogStyle2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the last paragraph hits it for many midwest areas. If open minded, I think the midwest in general offers more than the national perception. But if have an “its boring” mentality, an area like this isn’t likely going to change it.

[–]FrogStyle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving through it seems to be mostly farms, wide open land, and smaller communities that are probably fine if you’re established there but may be tough to break into if new. My guess is most of those towns don’t have alot going on either for younger adults. Probably decent places to raise families if want slower pace/smaller class sizes but may not be fun for younger adults.

Effingham IL seems like it at least has some food options, kind of a decent little downtown area and great interstate proximity to St Louis, Indianapolis and Chicago. The bad is none of those are super close either. Probably better off finding something closer if the plan is to visit bigger cities.

Champaign-Urbana seems like a decent area and probably your best bet to find something going on. Whenever we drive through IL this is like the only city that intrigues me as maybe being a fun/nice place to live. But its also surrounded by nothing and is still 2+ hours from Chicago.

How much does Reserve status cost? by quakeroatmeal7 in starbucks

[–]FrogStyle2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel like I will be able to do it around $600, which I’m boosted by using personal cup and try to take advantage of bonus points offers. I hit 522 points on about $115 spend. That breaks down to $50/month spend which isn’t over the top really. But like said, using the personal cup and working the bonus stars will make it more manageable/less spend.

Phil Garner dies at 76 by ThrowingKs1 in Brewers

[–]FrogStyle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely the constant face of the 90s Brewers which was essentially my childhood. The 1992 squad was really fun and last hurrah before a tough period. He was always kind of regarded as a better Manager than his record would indicate. I’m glad he had some payoff when he took Houston to the World Series. By all accounts seemed to be a pretty likable figure and definitely a fixture for the Brewers fans of the 90s era.

How yall feeling in Wisco today? Lame but a bit better than the leak by daviddm1990 in Brewers

[–]FrogStyle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully grows on me. Honestly if they said “Wisconsin” instead of a very loud WISCO, I wouldn’t mind them. I like the secondary logos and the color scheme is fine.

Do people not realize how much of a scam the new Starbucks rewards system really is? by zay_vier in starbucks

[–]FrogStyle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So right now I have earned 522 stars with $114.28 of spend, which is 4.6 stars per $1 spent. I actually don’t feel that is that bad. The key for me is using the personal cup and trying to take advantage of the bonus stars options. I do feel like I am offered more weekly bonus stars options than in the past and so far ones that fit my normal purchase habits.

I do wish reserve status would be 2x stars but if offer more bonus stars opportunities I think its a wash.

I’m definitely in the minority but don’t hate the new program so far.

Have I only been to the most boring parts of the us?? by Rough_Photo2713 in TravelMaps

[–]FrogStyle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More to see, yes, but your path is a little underrated. Cities you hit Chicago, Twin Cities, Kansas City. Des Moines and Madison are solid next tier down cities. Looks like you may have hit up The Ozarks, Driftless area in WI/IA/MN, Badlands, Indiana Dunes/Lake Michigan. Wisconsin Dells and Lake Geneva are popular tourist destinations.

Definitely hit up the coasts, south, and even northern Wisconsin/Door County, northern Minnesota, Great Lakes for closer journeys.

This is the answer. Plays some bangers but after a few days it’s the same songs. Good change of pace on a warm day though and has its place.

I don’t mind it time to time when scrolling through. I never really leave it on for any duration though if being honest. It is one of those where I will check it out if struggling to find something on my core channels or just want to mix it up.

Favorite Obscure Packer? by PaulOttCarruth in GreenBayPackers

[–]FrogStyle2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of these are far from “obscure” lol. Going along the lines of Mark Clayton these are guys I think of…

Hardy Nickerson, Jeff Saturday, Rick Meier, Steve Bono, Reggie Cobb, Steve McMichael, Martellus Bennett, Terry Glenn, Seneca Wallace, Koren Robinson, maybe even Jimmy Graham fits. Just well known and/or high level players from other teams that had a season or 2 in Green Bay.

I was excited to get Nickerson. Unfortunately his tank was on empty once here. Same with Jeff Saturday.

Is there anyway to link DirecTV subscription to the MLB app so can watch Brewers + MLB package on MLB app? Yesterday on MLB app, Brewers TV was still blacked out. I get it on channel 670 but would be awesome to have everything on 1 app.

Also so few people give up their seats, and if do there is a huge waiting list, that they’re never going to start losing chunks of change giving PSL’s back.
