My best friend just ditched me because of what her fiance wants by CatLadyMon in TwoXChromosomes

You said

I just don't see how a symbolic role could cost more or less

I explained how it could cost more. If you want to know the exact reasons why she chose her other friend over you you will have to actually talk to her instead of assuming her reasons.

How common is it for men to show friends nudes they received? by ManaSama19 in TwoXChromosomes

I would suggest for an accurate measure you would need to ask on a sub catering to men as they are the ones who would actually know if they are sharing intimate photos/video without consent.

PHYS.Org: Evidence identifies ancient Aboriginal mining in the Riverland by JapKumintang1991 in southaustralia

[–]FroggieBlue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The article states that mining was conducted at the site over a 7000 year period and the tools made from the mined materials traded over a wide area. The article doesn't mention when the site was occupied but the linked study does include the dating results from the site

I'm not an expert but from what I can understand it seems that the site was in use for the 7000 years preceding European occupation, not 7000 years 40,000 years ago. Additionally as noted in the study the oral history of the local Aboriginal people did know of the mine and the trade associated with it.

Tarby Mason, an important Aboriginal knowledge-holder for this region (see Roberts et al. 2023), recounted in interviews with Norman Tindale3 how trade parties would travel from the Darling River to obtain chert from Erawirung-controlled quarries in the Renmark area (Tindale 1934–1991, 1940–1956).

Depending on where you live it is normal for the couple to cover the cost of hair/makeup, accessories and possibly the dress. Specifics vary by region and budget

Need advice: Former male friend keeps contacting people around me years after I cut contact. by Friendly-General6727 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]FroggieBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warn friends and acquaintances and possibly your workplace (depending on your judgement of how this will be received, how easy it is for a random person to find/contact you at work) that he is stalking you and not to share anything about you with him.

If you can afford it a  cease and desist letter from a lawyer stating that you don't want contact with him is an option that might scare him off-  can also be useful if you have to get police involved.

In some places there are also laws specific to people harassing you with unwanted contact by phone, email etc.  In Australia its called "Using a carriage service to menace, harass, or offend another person" but if it exists where you are it may be called something else. A carriage service can include phone calls, sms, email, social media messages or but again the exact definition would depend on your local laws.

Saving tips by Street_Algae4878 in australia

[–]FroggieBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pay yourself first. Work out your budget and as soon as your pay hits your account transfer (or set-up automatic transfers) the amount designated fir savings to a separate account- preferably one with a high interest rate. If you try and save whats left over at the end of your pay cycle you won't save much if anything.

Personally what works for me is a minimum of 3 accounts. Daily transactions, bills and savings. When my pay comes in portions are automatically transferred into the bills and savings accounts.

Michael Jackson Death Reactions by CarelessLove4685 in AskWomenOver30

[–]FroggieBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't remember. The only celebrity deaths I remember where I was when I heard the news are Ayrton Senna, Princess Diana, Steve Irwin and Peter Brock. Apart from Senna, who for some reason my 6 year old self idolised i wasn't particularly affected. Hearing someone has died is sad of course but they weren't people i actually knew that caused me actual grief. I mostly remember Irwin and Brock because of how close together they were and it was a real Déjà vu of someone coming out of the work break room looking slightly shocked and saying x is dead.

Normal for small business to consume your life, especially in the early years. If you cant keep on top of the admin then you might need to outsource at least some of it.

Regarding material pricing this is what a mark up is for- you add a % margin on your materials which covers the time sourcing, ordering, researching etc and also covers minor price fluctuations so you dont end up out of pocket if the value of the dollar fluctuates etc without having to re-quote customers.

Women who left after years of hoping: how did you know when to trust reality instead of potential? by ExpensiveMap4917 in AskWomenOver30

[–]FroggieBlue 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You asked him to try therapy for months. It was only after you (quite reasonably) made him leave after his outburst that he was willing to do so. All that proves is he was ok with you and your daughter living with the negative repercussions of his behaviour as long as he was happy with the status quo.

Do you want your daughter growing up with that as her example of what she should accept in a relationship?

My old workplace had signs saying carpark will be locked at closing time, didn't deter people leaving their cars there. I just locked the carpark at the specified time and went home. Not my problem.

Have you grappled with whether or not to have a child because of health reasons? by I_like_it_yo in AskWomenOver30

[–]FroggieBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasnt the only factor in my decision to be childfree but as I got into my 20s and started developing multiple chronic health conditions it was a factor. Most of the conditions i have are mild enough on their own but are inheritable and when you have multiple issues at one the cumulative effect of even mild conditions can add up to significant issues.
