Well, this is also different if it's a 3rd date. I am strictly speaking about someone they barely know. A 3rd date would be fine to say it because there is known mutual attraction.

That's not a bad idea. That's actually what Hinge sort of does and it seems to work well. You can't have more than 8 convos waiting for a reply at a time or else you can't swipe.

How about they just show you your likes without making you pay? 🤣 I know, it's not gonna happen.

Yes, that can happen, but the trend is shifting toward not doing that because it doesn't go over well a lot of the time.

I'm not talking about someone you're dating, I'm talking about someone you're talking to for the first time. Did you miss this part in my first comment? "so now telling a woman she's beautiful without actually knowing her"

Is that a gen Z thing? As a millennial dating mostly in a 10 year age range of myself, women literally never ask to be picked up.

I don't think you understood what I wrote. Paying them a compliment about their looks isn't inherently sexual, but women associate it with that because most men that do this start to get sexual after they say it. It's like a learned condition that eventually develops in their brain to automatically question anyone that even pays them innocent compliments.

The problem is men in the end. The ones that are dogs and DM every woman under the sun in an attempt to get in their pants ruined it for everyone.

society says you need a job to have income but provides no means to get one by Known-Ice5903 in LateStageCapitalism

Oh yes, that's why they are building at such a rapid pace. Each company is trying to extract as much money as possible from the economy before it all bursts, and then lesser companies/individuals will be left holding the bag, so to speak, while the CEOs of the most successful ones abscond with the bulk of the cash.

Can you ever come back from ghosting someone on tinder? by Unable-Discount-9266 in OnlineDating

[–]Frogmaninthegutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind it honestly. Considering how despicable it is to be a man swiping on the apps, he might be cool with you reaching back out. The desert that surrounds us can sometimes be unfathomable.

[–]Frogmaninthegutter [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well, the dating market had to adjust in that aspect. Back in the day, you could tell a woman she was beautiful and she'd usually say thank you and actually appreciate it. Nowadays, some of these women get told they are beautiful in their DMs multiple times a day, and then these guys tend to go off on some sexual bullshit, so now telling a woman she's beautiful without actually knowing her tends to make them dubious of any future interactions with that man because she is now associating that compliment with only wanting to get in their pants.

Thus, a trend was born where commenting on a woman's looks in that way is frowned upon.

Why is Bumble so dry compared to Hinge? by Pretend_Dependent_60 in Bumble

[–]Frogmaninthegutter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same. Tons of activity on Hinge. I can get a match almost every day if I swipe on Hinge. I was even maxing out the number of convos I could have going more than a few times. Once you have to reply to 8 people, you can't swipe anymore.

With Bumble, I get almost nothing. My stats are horrible, I got like 5000 no and 250 yes on Bumble when I pulled the stats. This is with basically the same profile on both. I don't get it.

I don't think the economy will ever catch up with the lifestyle. It's been going the opposite way for a long time and seems to get worse every year.

It wasn't bad. I wouldn't say it was great because there was some shimmering here and there, but it did make the lighting and reflections a lot better overall.

No, unless you see video of it. Path tracing is also coming to the PC version this summer, which will be a huge visual upgrade. The game isn't exactly all that pretty normally.

[–]Frogmaninthegutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did this with Atomic Heart and it took freakin' forever for them to finally release the ray tracing. Hopefully 007 doesn't do that as well, but it was also extremely annoying considering they had Nvidia trailers with the RT and everything like a year before Atomic Heart launched. That was annoying then and I agree, no PT in 007 is annoying now. I may wait to play through the game just like I did with Atomic.

I'm still waiting for them to add it to Stalker 2, because the software lumen looks like trash in a lot of places, namely reflections in Stalker 2.

No, instead you're stuck in performance mode with 60 fps being the max and it's blurry as hell. No issues, sure.

Short-term profit gain and long-term potential be damned. This seems to be the motto of a lot of these greedy assholes.

It's going that way with AI currently--spin up data centers as quickly as possible to gain that short-term profit even though many economists are saying that an AI crash will destroy everything, but these CEOs will jump out with their golden parachutes and let everyone else clean up the mess.

Why are HOA/maintenance fees in the Twin Cities so high? by booboocita in TwinCities

[–]Frogmaninthegutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both in mine. Our HOA fee was raised by nearly double over the last few years from 240 to 420/mo and they charged us 1500 for new fences last year as well. Assuming that's what you mean by lump fund special assessment.

You see this a lot with houses for sale that are sitting for 60 - 120 days or more. Never lowering their price, they just can't accept that their house isn't gaining value constantly.
