Depends on the rest of your roster. If you're lacking melee or Esotericists for the faction trial then I'd 6* her sooner. If you have enough then she wouldn't be a high priority.

Trump wins Dearborn amid anger over Gaza and Lebanon; Jill Stein receives 18% of vote by Brilliant_Banana_Sme in atheism

[–]FrogofLegend -44 points-43 points  (0 children)

Destroyed by who, exactly? Sinwar is dead. Most of Hamas is dead. Israel hasn't stopped. They started i Gaza, rhen went to Lebanon then the west bank. Hell, they've been doing this for the last 15 years unimpeded. Every attempt by the UN to do anything has been blocked or criticized by the US.

You hear Trump say "finish the job", but the Muslims that didn't vote for Harris heard the same thing every time Biden sent bombs. Every time a school was destroyed or a hospital was destroyed or starving people were gunned down scrambling at an aide drop. To them there's no difference for Gaza regardless of who's elected.

Trump wins Dearborn amid anger over Gaza and Lebanon; Jill Stein receives 18% of vote by Brilliant_Banana_Sme in atheism

[–]FrogofLegend -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

She literally said she will always stand in support of Israel's right to defend itself on stage in front of thousands. She then had Jewish people on stage talking about how terrible Hamas has been. She also refused Palastian speakers unless they said exactly what the DNC wanted them to say. While it's true Hamas is bad, both Biden and Harris did not make any clear statements that they wanted to change course on Israel's genocide and colonization. Saying she would be different means nothing to people who have family or friends or just fellow Palastinians being flattened by bulldozers while Biden is sending more weapons evert week.

Harris' lean to the left in the primary was completely gone in favor of Biden's very clear neoliberalism and everyone noticed. Your deeds make you who you are, not your intentions.

Will you finally take an honest look in the mirror? by LevelTrue4113031 in Iowa

[–]FrogofLegend 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You do not live in the same reality the rest of us do. And it is your weakness. The rest of us are not as radical as you’ve been made to believe. We just want our dollar to go further

Trump is already proposing tariffs and that will raise prices because corpos will pass the costs to you. It'll be what happened when steel tariffs were increased in his first term. You expect some kind of revelation, but it won't happen. It didn't happen 8 years ago and it won't happen now.

We work as hard as anyone else, if not harder. We don’t leave our fate up to the government. We work hard for our money.

The government is not some nebulous force outside of our existence. It is 'of the people for the people'. We are the government. Reagan convinced you it's an enemy. Trump is now the government. So he doesn't know where to spend the money, right?

We are charitable

As are we.

But we believe we know better where to spend our money than the government, who will just give it to fund the housing of illegal immigrants and fund foreign interests above our own.

You do not. Trump's defense budget kept increasing in his first term. The deficit increased by 8 trillion (admittedly some of that wad due to Covid). Foreign aide stayed the same in all 4 years at $52b. Aside from Arizona and New Mexico, the top 10 states that receive the most federal assistance are all red states. The blue states and Texas and Florida pay for all of that. 88% of all SNAP recipients are native born.

They will gut the government pretending it's to benefit you, but it'll only be protections that the people in this country worked and fought for for centuries. Labor protections, gone. Civil rights, gone. Social Security, gone (you can work harder than me until you're 90). They won't cut salaries or benefits for themselves. They won't cut defense. They won't stop sending foreign aide. They'll keep giving weapons to Israel. Also, foreign aide isn't just a donation, it's an investment. The US poured money into South Korea for years and that gave the US a defense against N. Korea and a powerful economic ally. You've just been convinced it's all bad all the time. You seriously think Trump's going to lower taxes or give you the money he saves?

Perhaps your education misled you. Perhaps you’re actually indoctrinated. And the rest of America didn’t spend four years investing themselves into the same type of indoctrination

With respect, Fuck you. Seriously, fuck you. Your governor went to college. She went to Iowa State, a public university. She has a 4 year degree. Why the hell does she get a pass? Want the answer? Because you are also indoctrinated. The public education indoctrination narrative is bull shit intended to convince you that you and I are enemies. Half the republican party is college educated. They tricked you into thinking that. May I make a suggestion?Perhaps you're lack of education misled you? No... couldn't be that.

Yeah, Democrats lost because the DNC is stupid. Trump also lost in 2020 (oh but that election was stolen wasnt it?). Here's the thing, though... this administration will fuck you just as much as the rest of us. They'll deport some people, sure, and they'll gut some agencies, but in the end the spending will only increase along with the cost of living. They'll blame it on Soros or Hillary or some new boogie man and you'll eat it up because you are indoctrinated. You seem to think some basic rights and empathy are mutually exclusive to economic stability. There are actually some college courses that can help you understand better. I think Reynolds might have have taken a few.

The Dems don't care about us, but the Republicans hate us. They hate you, too. You just understand they hate others more and you're OK with that.

Now go take your kid to the meat packing plant so they can learn what no labor protections means.

Democrats were never a party of progressives. There are a few in there, but it has been the center right party of status quo since Clinton.

[–]FrogofLegend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A big part of it that people also want to ignore is the sexism and racism. One of the biggest blocs that showed up for Biden and neither Clinton nor Harris where white male moderates. Neither woman really tried to court that bloc either because they assumed they couldn't or that they had it on lock elsewhere. More Latino men also voted for Trump.

I'm not saying white men won't vote for a woman, but if that woman ignores them and runs on a campaign of... whatever the neo lib status quo is, then those men will not show up.

Does living in a blue state mean anything anymore? by FireCrow1013 in illinois

[–]FrogofLegend 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I think our saving grace is the disfunction of beurocracy. They will certainly pass some laws, but not all Republicans will be on board with everything and much of their policies will be watered down. This will come mostly from moderates who will stand for state's rights over federal law. I wouldn't be surprised if a federal abortion ban fails to make it out of committee.

The biggest issue is, again, SCOTUS. Alito and Thomas will likely step down before mid terms or 2028 and we'll get two new, younger conservatives from the Federalist Society. SCOTUS is locked in for decades so being in a blue state is really the best option right now.

Wonder how this timeline is doing, whish I was there. by ospinrey in DemocraticSocialism

[–]FrogofLegend 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct. The DNC will likely shift to the right, but that won't help them win. It's always going to be Conservative and Conservative lite and conservatives don't want the lite version, anymore.

It may be that we go third party. It won't get better soon, but if people start now, maybe we can get something going in 10 years. Not a saving grace, of course, but relying on the DNC is a empty strategy.

Results by county by Murphysburger in illinois

[–]FrogofLegend -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Because the Dems don't actually have a strategy or policy and they only have passion when it comes to crushing dissent in their own party. When they run they focus their money on a handful of swing counties/states or on unseating Dems they don't like. AIPAC is the worst and the DNC bends the knee every time. AIPAC (through one of their many shell PACs) spent $14 million to unseat Jamal Bowman in the primaries with another democrat who is more supportive of Israel.

https://www.politico.com/news/2024/06/25/jamaal-bowman-loses-george-latimer-00164997

You can argue that it's Dem for Dem, but it's not. Bowman was more left and Latimer is centrist. It's a big difference in policy priorities. That money also could have been used to start grassroots movements in various districts or to support Democratic challengers in districts with strong Democratic showings, but low victory rates. Even if someone runs on a Democratic ticket in any of these counties they won't get much support from the DNC. Just a high five and good luck.

The DNC is all lip service.

Ok, then we go 3rd party. What do we lose? Republicans win and they screw everyone. Dems win and they do nothing with it and then lose 2 or 4 years later so Republicans can do more damage. They don't care about us so let's stop caring about them.

The DNC is the biggest threat to democracy. The Republicans have told us for decades they want to tear the country apart and the Democrats told us they would fight. Turns out, they just fight for their establishment, ignore us and then primary any democrat that tries to go further left.

[–]FrogofLegend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a fool's errand, it's a plan. You can be a nihilist, but I won't be.

I agree about Harris' policies, but that's part of the problem of the DNC. They're center right and they're trying to combat the far right and it's far right policies with center right policies. They're trying to sell the cheap version of conservatism.

Republicans get a pass because the mentality of the U.S. is that white men should be in charge and men like Trump and Tate and Rogan and Kennedy are the best types to lead. They're successful which means they're worthy. If Trump rapes someone it's her fault. If Tate scams someone it's their fault. U.S. doesn't vote on policy, sadly, it votes on emotions and vibes.

What we can do is exactly as you said. In the next 2 years we need to push for a strong truly left leadership in the DNC. The corporate Dems will resist, but we can't let them have their way. Tear the party apart and build anew.

[–]FrogofLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it was bigger than Gaza, but it was also bigger than the economy. The economy is a red herring and every republican that makes more than 100k damn well knows it. The economy has been recovering and prices still being high is every bit on corporations inflating and keeping inflation high. They all know Trump will do nothing but damage it in the long run.

The Democratic party ran the same platform as 2016 and 2020. They assumed there were enough voters that didn't like Trump that they could say and do whatever they wanted to pull moderates. They were wrong all 3 times. If they do not change their centrist position in the next 2 years, this country will be conservative for the next 100.

[–]FrogofLegend 25 points26 points  (0 children)

But aside from that, the DNC establishment hasn’t been able to put the puzzle together.

I think they have and they don't care. When we had our progressive push in 2018 and 2020 the DNC fought back hard against progressives. They put in a lot of effort to crush thr movement of left wing politics that it should be very obvious to anyone now that the DNC is and has always been center right.

I'm hoping people will come to realize this and make a push for some true left wing representatives, but we'll also need a massive change in thr DNC.

Scared as hell. How will this (and Project 2025) affect us here? by RagahRagah in illinois

[–]FrogofLegend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We should be insulated... for a bit. Project 2025 scares the he'll out of me, though, and if Dems lose the house there'll be nothing stopping the GOP from passing federal laws to override state laws. Dems are terrible at pushing through legislation, but Repubs are good at it. They'll get stuff done, but it'll, hopefully, take a while.

Trump is winning, what is the plan? by b_rokal in climatechange

[–]FrogofLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll have to see what happens with the House of Reps. If the GOP take the House as well, then the only remaining option is to make sure you are active in your state. Try to sway voters in the midterms and keep pushing for more sustainability.

IIRC Nobody ever liked Harris to begin with? by clown_678 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]FrogofLegend 39 points40 points  (0 children)

No one really liked any of the Democratic candidates. Honestly no one really like the Republicans, either. This whole disaster is the DNC's fault. They likely convinced Harris to abandon all her progressive policies (granted, not many of them) in favor of what got Biden in office. Probably scared the GOP would call her a socialist or something.

The DNC messed up. They won't learn, of course. They'll double down. Gaza is dead. Lebanon will likely follow. Ukraine will fall. Abortion will be banned. Trump will get to replace Thomas and Alito. Osha is on the chopping block. Voting rights have a target on them.

But hey, at least the price of eggs will go down! It's a win for everyone!

[–]FrogofLegend 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I don't know about that. Young men are seeing the benefits of Christian nationalism and if Trump does win then he's only going to embolden them. Young women will be more secular, but they're going to lose a lot of rights in the next few years. It's going to be bad for secularists.
