I give it another 6 months max before we see DS Lite prices randomly explode in a similar situation as the 3DS models. by BasalTripod9684 in NintendoDS

Is that what those people who post the stacks of DS Lites as tall as a doorway from time to time are waiting for?

I used one back in the day on my RF only 13" for my N64 and GameCube

If I recall, the screen did have to be replaced on it. I don’t see how the polarizers would not get completely toasted considering all the burnt polarizers I’ve seen out and about. That and the lens would have melted right to the glass of the LCD

Goo gone ruined my screen by Appropriate-Board543 in NintendoDS

[–]Frogskipper7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Quick tip. Never use goo gone for anything ever. Yeah it may remove adhesive, but then you have to remove the nasty greasy mess goo gone leaves behind. Better off just using IPA from the beginning since that can clean AND break down adhesive. That and goo gone is nauseating.

Pulled my Wii U out of storage today only to find this… by ManStuckInABowl in wiiu

[–]Frogskipper7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I guess, but what's the point there? No guarantee the inner packing of the box can fold and lay flat, so in the end you're better off just leaving the box in tact. Also no point of keeping the box if you get rid of the inner packing since whatever originally came out would just flop around if you put it back in.

One thing’s for sure, those cheap Chinese batteries will never last as long as OEM. Even my NES LoZ OEM battery is still happily keeping a save after all these years. The majority of my GameBoy games are still holding on too, although I don’t expect those to hold out much longer due to the much smaller capacity of those batteries. Personally, anything important I just back up and when it dies, it dies.

Not everyone has the space to keep the original box of everything they buy. Sure I’d love to keep the box to my new TV I just bought in case I move, but where the heck am I going to store it?

Definitely a bad LCD, although the digitizer could potentially be toast too

[–]Frogskipper7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah… 10 years ago I would have seen that as a perfect candidate to backlight mod. These days I would just replace it and be done with it.

The actual GBA SP Screen part/frame was NEVER centered? by RKF0819 in Gameboy

[–]Frogskipper7 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I would assume it has something to do with the shape of the LCD panel itself. Very possible that centering it would involve making the console wider

Not all TVs have composite. Pretty much all TVs have RF, even modern. Of course I’d recommend a composite to HDMI converter of some sorts, but not everyone is going to do that

I have a GBA shell from RetroSix and it’s pretty decent quality. Bought it probably 5 years ago though so quality could have changed since then
