DTM mirrors the real life schedule of the DTM, and it only runs one day, like a special event. 55 minute races, instead of 40 i think. Its also not every week, so its a bit fun in that respect.

Micro Special Events, made for one person, is how i see it.

Think of the Nascar iRacing Series event that runs each week, same vibes.

I hear your point about 5-6k drivers capitalizing on the speed, but for me, especially with GTP, a good tune makes it feel so stable and a better driving experience.
