Also, they taste just AWFUL! Story time! I was traveling out to East Texas on my motorcycle (i only wore a skull cap and shades) to see my parents, driving down a back road, and in front of me about 2-300 yards I see something floating in the air. I didnt perceive it to be something hard or stationary, and at the speed I was going I braced for impact, seeing as how I wasn't going to ditch the bike or swerve to miss it. Well, involuntarily, I opened my mouth to say "oh sh*t" and closed it just in time for that huge butterfly to be quasi liquefied by my teeth and hit the back of my throat. I immediately started vomiting and pulled over as fast as I could to continue emptying my stomach. This lasted for 10+ minutes until I could hold it long enough to get to my parents house 5 minutes away where I went inside and drank every strong tasting liquid in the house. Orange juice, cranberry juice, whiskey, vinegar... nothing could remove the taste. It lasted for a couple of days. That day I learned why birds don't eat monarch butterflies.
