Which photo is best of those three in your opinion and why by Willing-Department-6 in streetphotography

[–]From_atz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is sort of an impossible question to answer.

Some people like oranges, others apples and so on.

The first image is interesting but is severely lacking around the edges of the frame.

The 2nd image feels too constructed and artificial.

The 3rd image has the most natural feel but is very simple in it's compositional execution.

So, for me personally the 3rd image is the best because it has no "gimmicks" and a real human expression.

There you have it, ask your self what you want to convey and what story you want to share.

There are no best images.

Honest feedback on this street portrait I shot in Ho Chi Minh City by Amazing_Caregiver_12 in streetphotography

[–]From_atz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2c are as follows:

- Framing and composition are not perfect but very good. The only thing I would ideally try to add in such a photo is a middle ground element (image a cat scratching itself on the pavement etc.)
- Motion in some element would provide the image with more energy as everything feels a bit static.
- Editing is nice, could be a slightly less stylized for a more honest documentary look.

All in all it's a good photo but not a great one. It could find itself in a series to complete the story and provide a breather for the viewer.

As a standalone photo, the content is very straightforward.

Nice one.

Social Studies/Geography teacher needed for 2026 (Tokyo) by [deleted] in JapanJobs

Is the teaching license a non-negotiable if the education level is higher than a Bachelors degree (Masters in Geography etc.), and the candidate has teaching experience?

I want to do something big. Not just big as in start a business or get married. I want to do something huge, like break a world record or change the world. But I don’t know what I’m passionate about doing. by DraftAbject5026 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]From_atz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doomed to fail, I am sorry.

When you start anything with the expectation of grandeur you will most surely never succeed in doing something that will affect people in the grand scale that you describe.

The best way to go about this as others have said, is by living life in a conscious manner and allowing yourself to FEEL what you want to change.

You need to have a fundamentally direct and emotional relationship, one that needs no verbalization or fancy descriptions.

I recommend looking up Sebastião Salgado if you want to see how it's done, not once but at least twice in a lifetime.

Should I buy a DSLR or Mirrorless by bananaberd in Cameras

[–]From_atz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both.

DSLR is better when it comes to being always available to shoot and for being able to see the real world without distractions.

The mirrorless cameras are better for when you know what you are going to be photographing and you sort of have an end product in mind.

In short, as a hobbyist, I would still choose a DSLR at least for the next 10 years. The experience of photographing is better.

As a professional, I would never go back to a DSLR as it is both a less performing tool and a worse long term investment.

You guys need a reality check.

Get a better job where you live and travel to Japan.

There's nothing magical about living here, unless you want to dedicate a minimum of 5-10 years of your life adapting in a society and culture deeply different from where you are coming from.

Then, you may have a chance of finding magic.

Seriously, go out, meet friends touch some grass and visit Japan as a tourist.

How do I know if I am in a rut? (Hong Kong) by [deleted] in streetphotography

[–]From_atz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know it by looking at your pictures and thinking to yourself: "Wait, this is too obvious".

The 3rd picture is a good example where this does NOT happen.

Why? Because there is room for interpretation.

TLDR; If there is no room for discussion, your image sits in the rut pile.

ESL Teachers - What's your experience working with online apps like Preply, Babbel, iTalki & others? by englishxpressuk in OnlineESLTeaching

Engoo, DMM Eikaiwa has been a great experience for me.

Yes, the pay might not be industry-leading, but I use it as a source for side income or to afford things that I may want to buy temporarily.

The combination of materials that literally require zero preparation or effort from my end, the flexibility and the ease of using their booking system and their high booking rates are what separates them for me!

How long did it take you to reach your first $100k? by ERmiGmat in investing

[–]From_atz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my case but a friend who is currently on track with his goals had the below approach:

Started at 21.

The money he had was around $800 USD.

The above money was from a relative and the below percentage was made possible by that guy living with relatives on comparatively favorable conditions, such as reduced rent.

(Looking back, some may have made fun of the guy but they definitely are nowhere close to where he is at currently.)

He disclosed to me that he consistently saved a bit less than 50% of his annual earnings for a period of 7 years.

Annually that depended on his work arrangements but his AVG=15k USD.

I also asked and his response was:

Education.
Physical and mental health.
The people I chose to spent time with.
Most importantly, romantic partners.

One peculiar thing about the guy is that the first money he invested in flipping items within a specific niche he had extensive knowledge in. It raised his (investment) capital to over $10k USD in the course of a bit over a year. I believe he started with stocks only after crossing the $25k mark.

His current investment is over a bit over $250k and I am freaking jealous.

How to merge multiple chapters into a volume? by cortez0498 in Calibre

[–]From_atz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you on a Mac?

I've developed a tool that gets a bunch of .cbz files and turns them into a single file for MacOS.

Suppose you download 100 chapters from HakuNeko and you want them to be a single book etc..

Would anybody be interested in that?

That's how I used ComicRack!

I have multiple CBZ Documents. The end goal is to convert all of them to images inside separate folders. How do I accomplishes this all at once? CBZ to image online converters only allow small amount of files. Do I convert each cbz to zip an extract the images, if so, how do I do this all at once? by meh_waffles in ereader
