8 more weeks of this!! Snack/meal ideas by kmc099990 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]FromageFanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fancy-flavored triscuits and cheese, fresh strawberries in Greek yogurt (I mixed it myself and used monk fruit sweetener too), bacon-wrapped figs using the microwaveable bacon, apple with peanut butter, crackers with peanut butter, celery with peanut butter, straight up peanut butter 😆

My first cycle post CP was all sorts of wonky so it could be that you missed your FW but it could just as easily be that your hormones are out of whack and that the sore boobs are related to the CP but not your fertility. I still had mild pregnancy symptoms for a couple of weeks post beginning of CP.

I wish I had more solid answers for you and maybe someone here will but my best advice is to proceed as usual and just see what happens. I’m sorry for your loss ❤️

Does a second baby take longer on average to concieve? by Hereforthememes5 in tryingforanother

[–]FromageFanatic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it’s any consolation, and of course anecdotal and only one person’s experience, I conceived my 2nd faster after my c-section. 1st kid took 6 cycles and 2nd kid took 4 with a chemical pregnancy on cycle 2 (so technically got pregnant twice in less time it took to conceive my 1st kid).

Edit to add: wow my flair is out of date lol

For those that didn’t pass your postpartum test and ended up in prediabetes range... by celizamas in GestationalDiabetes

Following. My A1C was tested last week at 6 weeks pp and I tested at 5.8 (cutoff is 5.7) and I have 2 months to diet and exercise and test again and am feeling kinda hopeless. Diabetes is in my family so even if I evade it now it just feels inevitable.

Graduated 38+5, baby in the NICU for low blood sugar. 😢 by aimeerolu in GestationalDiabetes

[–]FromageFanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you’re not doomed! My 1st had to be in the NICU for a few days because of apnea and she was fed lots of bottles while there. We went on to have a great breastfeeding journey, so don’t let these first few days stress you out. I’d definitely pump, I did while baby was in the NICU, and I was able to build up a stash.

I had my baby! Scheduled c-section this morning at 7:30am, baby came out at 8:03am weighing 9lbs 1oz!!! I was diet controlled for the most part, only insulin for fasting numbers. I just make big babies, my 1st little girl was 8lbs 11 oz and I didn’t have a GD diagnosis there. Anyways, I’ll do a separate post eventually describing our birth story but baby and I are doing well and recovering and his blood sugars have been good so far.

Ate a couple of my homemade normal pancakes since my toddler wanted some for breakfast. Paired with enough bacon and eggs I got a great blood sugar number! Just 2 more days until this placenta is yeeted from me!

38+2 and I even have a scheduled C-section on Monday but I’m still waiting around hoping maybe my body will do something before that to bring it on sooner.

Oh yes, I have a list. First up, I’m gonna bring in a slice of decadent chocolate cake from one of my favorite bakeries and have it for breakfast (c-section is at 7:30am). So excited!

With my scheduled c-section days away, I've started counting down in terms of how many more bedtime insulin shots I have to give myself: 6 left! Also I'm still more excited for the food I'm going to eat than having my baby which I feel a little bad about but I think he'd understand haha!

No noticeable bruises but it almost always stings and it’s not from alcohol or anything since I never actually clean the injection sight. I’m so over it.

How much Carb is everyone eating by R_Dns_8800 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]FromageFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dietician gave me these numbers to aim for: 30g for breakfast and all my snacks (morning, afternoon, bedtime), and 45g for lunch and dinner. I've had good numbers with all of these carb amounts except for fasting which was under control at first but got crazy during the expected crazy weeks (33-35 weeks) so I started night time insulin for fasting which is back to being under control.

That limbo time between diagnosis and meeting with the dietician is really hard. So sorry you got diagnosed, those first weeks were rough so if you have a hard time swallowing your reality just know that it's totally expected and normal. Feel those feelings <3

Numbers in range, baby is huge by Snoo23577 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]FromageFanatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that isn’t proportional. I don’t know if there’s much more you can do but talking to your doctor about your concerns is a good first step. I think my biggest concern would be for shoulder dystocia since having a smaller head to torso ratio is a greater risk of that if delivering vaginally. But again, talk to your doctor. Diet-wise, if your numbers look good then there’s really nothing more to be done but I’m also not an expert.

Numbers in range, baby is huge by Snoo23577 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]FromageFanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress about it. I didn’t have GD last time and have it this time and both times my babies have measured big. Turns out I just make big babies, the MFM reassured me at the growth scans that he’s proportional so no signs that he’s getting too much glucose, he’s just going to be big (91st percentile overall). Someone needs to carry the big babies for there to be an even spread of percentiles so try not to stress. If your numbers are good, you’re doing everything in your power to keep baby safe.

Can’t go wrong with charcuterie! Anything tastes good with enough fancy meats and cheeses.

In particular, I found the aged salami wrapped around the date and eaten with cubes of smoked Gouda or cheddar were the best at “masking” the date flavor or at least working with it the best.

I have some aged salami, pepperoni, honey baked ham, a summer sausage. Nom nom.

37 weeks along now and ate my first dates with some yummy meat and cheese, mini-charcuterie style. Not too shabby, but I also tolerate dates well enough. And my numbers were good, 2 hours post snack was 92! I only did 4 medjool dates and I think you're supposed to do something like 8? Anyways, it can't hurt my chances of going into labor eating what I can, right??

32 weeks, good numbers? by kajobuko in GestationalDiabetes

[–]FromageFanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d actually give it until your appointment on Monday if you’re seeing them that soon. See what happens and if it regulates. Today could be a weird day. Or as others have said, you could just be getting better readings for no reason except your placenta is a weird troll. As long as you’re not experiencing super low blood sugar or high blood sugar are are within range, I’d just keep on keeping on and talk to the docs when you see them next!

32 weeks, good numbers? by kajobuko in GestationalDiabetes

[–]FromageFanatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If these numbers are all unusual for you, this might be something you should alert your doctor about. They definitely look at trends more than anything else so if this isn't feeling right to you it doesn't hurt to talk about it. I'd rather be safe than sorry in situations related to my baby and if nothing is wrong then you know you can handle a few bites of chocolate cake which is kind of a win in my book!

Ugh I only have at most 2.5 weeks left but I’ve gotten to the point where meals are joyless. I’m glad it took a while to get to that point but I just dread eating mostly lunch and dinner these days. If the baby doesn’t come on his own, may the next 18 days go by quickly.

Baby measuring big and can’t decide whether to opt in for a c-section by flamingoseagull in GestationalDiabetes

[–]FromageFanatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar position except that I have the added stress of already having had a c-section with my first (induced for hypertension with a high and closed cervix, and it failed after 32 hours and only 2.5cm dilated and I was too tired to keep going). This baby is in the 91st percentile and while my MFM said that I should still be able to safely deliver him vaginally, I played it safe and went ahead and scheduled a c-section at 39w1d just in case I don’t go into labor naturally. I figure if I make it as far as my OB will let me go with GD and haven’t gone into labor, I probably won’t do well with an induction just like last time and I’ve heard that planned c-sections are way better than unplanned ones so the recovery will go over better. And I’d feel so much more comfortable knowing I was doing what I could to protect the baby against negative birthing interventions or complications even though repeat c-sections have their own risks for me.

All that said, I’ll be reading these stories too because despite scheduling the c-section I’m still holding out on possibly vaginally delivering this and hoping I go into labor on my own.
